i dont get why people would complain about paying, honestly just do the two week free trial. i got atleast 12-14 generations out of it... the site is amazing and they are absolutely right when they say "you do not have to know what you're looking for." my only complaint is that most of their world archives consists of UK records.. wish they would retrieve more from other areas like italy, poland and russia where I am still stuck

I find Ancestry.com a necessity for online research but it takes more than seconds. I've been searching for information on one person for 4 years and I still know just basic information about her.

@MrNocaster1 There are a number of things that you can do that may unstall you. Try a variation on spelling of both first and last name. Loosening up the search parameters. You'll be surprised what it can yield.

Couple of issues I have noted with ancestry, 1. its very American based in its content, 2. User data submitted can be wrong, very wrong so be wary and always check with official archives to confirm accuracy. 3. No images from the UK due to copyright issues, best to go direct to Scotland's People and get the official records.

wtf i went to this website to see my great granfather history and next thing u know it said u have to pay wow that is fu*ked up just to see your family members history and info

this is good i am on uk site as in england. you can find all names etc in registers, but my only gripe is to order say a birth or death or marriaged cert, they charge you £20 for postaged, the document only cost £2.50p so £22.50 is alot for a document. and basically you need some to further your research, as with the registers your only getting names. not full info. but still good site i have been on it a week and found over 50 names on both sides of my family and info i never knew about.
