Just watched this for the first time.

My taste is electronic, not musical theatre, so I tend to appreciate everything I hear in such genres uncritically. There are almost certainly objectively better opening numbers than this in existence, but no matter. This is an absolute masterpiece. Totally beautiful in every common and twisted sense of the word.
