  • I have researched my new purchase for months I am disappointed with this camera. It is great for outdoors photos but indoors pictures look underexposed. It underexposes by -2/3 indoors every time. I bought it for my wife, since camera had very good reviews, Leica lens, HD video, excellent zoom etc.. I have played with manual controls for days on DMC-ZS3 and I could not get the camera to properly measure light in i_Auto setting indoors. When we take pictures inside exp.comp. has to be +2/3

  • @Netbist

Well it does require to explore the features a little.

There is a exposure over ride that can be set as well as ISO speed.

Rotate the Knob on top it to the second setting that allows more features. It will say 'Normal Picture' in the viewer when you move the dial.

Now see the setting options in that mode.

Select the right hand button on the bottom next to display button.

    Don't give up so easy.

This camera will out do most $1200 cameras.

Even the flash power can be set.

  • '

where can i find a night video while a full bright white back

  • If some of you are still undecided, panasonic just came out with yet another new camera, the ZS7. And still under 400 bucks.

  • @Philscbx Image quality isn't as good on the ZS3. In fact if you have the ZS3 and want maximum image quality I recommend downgrading to firmware 1.0 or 1.1 as they have much better detail retention.

  • @kernow62

    You made me look.

    It does have vs 1.2.

I suspect a tour to Pano's site to see if version available.

    Thanks' for tip.

  • @Philscbx I wanted to send you a link, but you have your messages blocked unless you add me as a friend. It also won't let me post the link in the comment.

  • @kernow62

    Got ya covered, thanks'

  • your parent's should've named you Holly.

  • Hoo-ray for MOLLYWOOD! That screwy, ballyhooey MOLLYWOOD!

  • my birthday is coming up and i am asking for money so i can buy a camera.

i was looking at this one... but i heard that the indoor pictures were very bad...

here are some things that i am looking for:

super zoom (at least 10x optical), hd video (at least 720p), at least 8 megapixels, and i would really like it to have standard usb so i don't have to use a proprietary one... oh and i want a camera that can fit in my pocket

    Thanks for the help!

  • @MackAndCheeez Good choice & time. I have seen it on sale lately at Cosco. Best Buy does not sell it.

I have over 10k in Canon gear, and this guy is with me everyday.

Tip/ if you have Apple comp, it already has iMovie to convert AVCHD seamlessly & with your tunes. It's so simple, even a guy 50 something can do it.

Get a sandisc class6 16gb card, and your set for fun.

  • @MackAndCheeez

Make sure what you hear has a source.

See Amazon for reviews from people who own it.

dpreview is another. It's the largest review of all cameras.

    Good Luck in your choice.

  • i donno where you get that the indoor pictures are bad but the panasonic makes one of the best pictures of its price range

  • do you can record more than 10, 20 or 30 minutes without stop ?????

  • @mrs9

    yes, up to 30 minutes

  • Yeah, CNET can't review for shit. This is supposed to be one of the BEST point and shoot cameras out and most REAL review sites are giving it high scores all around, their video "reviews" are just an overview of the product itself that you see on the website or product box.

  • Yeah, you get them CNET crap.

    lol

  • Here's the review by Lori Grunin. CNET Editors' Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

The good: Long and wide-angle zoom lens in a compact body; 720p movies; lens can zoom during movie capture.

The bad: Very few manual controls.

The bottom line: As long as you don't want much in the way of manual features,

    * See what I mean?

She rates it as if it's a DSLR w/ no manual controls.

    It's a pocket camera idiot.

    3.5 stars?

If this is 3.5, then nothing else compared is above a 1.

    Worthless BS.Review.

  • @Philscbx

    you are correct sir

  • Like most Cnet reviews, they don't have a fkg clue what they are dealing with or talking about.

I've been dealing with cameras for 35 years, and will bet $5k all reviews are half baked.

They get handed a sheet script.

They never press the shutter button.

They wouldn't know what to say then.

The idiot that reviews Canon's DSLR's will say the kit lens they are using, when in truth it's an L series pro lens fitted.

The fact they deceive and can't tell the truth is a JOKE.

  • @Philscbx

    what would you recommend.

Looking for 10x zoom or higher

compact camera good in low light and outside

also look for camera that will stay in focus when you are zooming to make a movie

  • @kingofthenight1

I love my ZS3's. One yr old now.

With over 12K in Canon gear, the ZS3 kicks Canon's butt every time I pull it out to shoot.

It's not quite fast enough in some cases, but give it a moment to truly focus, it never lets me down.

You'll be impressed with the killer HD done in AVCHD that auto plays in iMovie the second it's plugged into laptop.

See my new vid just added.

I researched for a cool pocket camera for years, & found it.

Panasonic has new gear out now as well.

    Cheers.

  • Didn't even mention the awesome video breakthroughs of this camera: High def, zoom works while shooting in video mode, dolby sound. Come on, get it together reviewer!!!!

  • hej

  • lol

  • In America it is ZS3, in Europe it is still the Tz name. and yes it is a useless video. Tell me something I dont know.

  • is it 12X or 10X... someone.. anyone?!

  • 12x zoom

  • She meant to say "TZ" series, but kept saying "TS" series.

Other that, a useless video, not telling us anything we didn't already know.

  • Yeah i know, but it may be different in America unless you live in America and TZ is correct. BTW i live in England.
