Years ago woman would put the baby in a Plaid wrapped over one shoulder encompassing the child and under the opposite arm especially when the wean was ill to nurse them hence even to-day we say if tired think I need half hour in the Plaid lol great what sparks a memory great vid very interesting.
Useful video Alistair! May I just add a further tip - to allow the plaid brooch to stand upright - give the short end of the plaid a couple of twists BEFORE you pass it over the epaulette - this will create more of a knot into which the brooch can sit. Just an old army tip! (Hope you don't mind!)
