@krazykink i think in some countries over seas like japan they have microwave/conventional oven combos. i'm not really sure how it works but i've seen them used more than once.
@eugelu11 you might have a lot more muscle than her, or she might have heavy bones/ less body water percentage which means just because you weigh the same, doesn't mean you contain the same amount of body fat and/or body water.
@SereneSatellites They don't appear to be doing anything but eating, I can see watching tv, eating, and sorting through bills or something, but eating should be the focus, because that's how you realize that you are truly fool, and pay attention to what you eat.
@SereneSatellites It doesn't when you are an over eater. Your brain doesn't work the same, so you need to consciously pay attention to what you eat, that's how so many of these people get to so many calories. I should know I am a compulsive binge/purger. I overeat if I do not watch what I eat.
@SereneSatellites Actually, it is true that for overeaters, watching television is quite bad. They pay less attention to the amount they put into their mouths as their attention is on something else, and often end up consuming more than they would otherwise. It is not about "multitasking".
Also, the statistics presented at the start of this series talk about obese and underweight people in millions. How do you go from that to the idea that "most people" don't have food issues?
@SereneSatellites It would appear that it is not too complex to alter biological patterns, given obesity prevalence. Besides, many of the supersizers identify emotions as a trigger for eating - emotions are biological impulses too.
These may help you better grasp the association:
- 'Viewing television while eating impairs the ability to accurately astimate total amount of food fonsumed', Moray, Jenna, Fu, Andi, Brill & Kristin, 2007, Bariatric Nursing and Surgical Patient Care
@SereneSatellites You're not supposed to stop eating when you're full. When people eat a meal, they stop when they've had enough - not when they're full. Watching TV distracts us. We stop when we've had enough, but we don't put the food away because we would miss the show. So we stay and watch. And we have a few more bites. A minute later, we have some more. And more. We do stop - many times - but we start again.
@qwexas "You're not supposed to stop eating when you're full". Yes, you are.
Yes, a lot of people do eat that way - but that doesn't mean it's the right way or the way you're "supposed" to eat.
You ARE suppose to stop eating when you're full. You ARE suppose to listen to your body, and it's needs. When you're full, your body is telling you to stop.
@13Bee1 No, you're not. If you're full, you should have already stopped eating. Being full is like when you're giving someone driving directions and you say "if you see McDonald's, you've driven past your turn."
If you're full, it means you have already ignored your body's signal that you've eaten enough. We're not supposed to be full. We're supposed to be satiated.
@qwexas Yes, you are. You say "if you're full, it means you have already ignored your body's signal that you've had enough" What signal? The only way your body can give you a signal that you've "eaten enough" is when you're full. If we are not supposed to be full, and we must stop before our body gives us that signal, then it is US that choose to stop, not our "body's signal."However, why have you started talking about stopping before you are full, when before it was stopping after you're full?
@13Bee1 I never said stopping after you're full. You misinterpreted what I said.
As you eat, you'll gradually get less hungry, and less motivated to eat. The food will become less appetizing. That's when you know you've had enough, and usually should stop. If you ignore this signal and keep eating, you'll get full.
When people eat while watching TV, they stop at the "had enough" signal, but they start again, keep stopping and starting, until they get full.
@qwexas "You're not supposed to stop eating when you're full. When people eat a meal, they stop when they've had enough - not when they're full." I interpreted that first statement as "people are suppose to stop eating well after a meal" and then I replied, and then you replied again with something about stopping before you're full...so you can see where it gets quite confusing? But I'll take your word for it and say that I misinterpreted what you said.
@qwexas However, gradually getting less hungry, and less motivated to eat is the -body's- way of giving you the first signals that you are about to be full. You talk about signals like I was before now, they are the bodys signals of telling you are full...or "have had enough." You ARE suppose to stop then. I agree, but it all depends on the persons self control. I've always stopped when I'm full, that's never happened for me. If it's a problem, you just don't eat in front of the TV.It's simple.
@13Bee1 You were arguing that watching TV can't override the biological urge to stop eating. I'm saying the urge is very easy to override at "had enough". I do it consciously if I plan to burn a lot of calories that day, or won't have a chance to eat for a long time. The signal is very subtle at first. If you override it (like if you're distracted by TV), it gradually gets stronger, until it reaches "full". If you eat until (until, not past) "full" frequently, you'll get fat.
@qwexas No I wasn't? When was I arguing that? I only responded to it after you started talking about it. Maybe the urge is easier to override for you, but for people who understand their bodies and have self control - it really isn't. Therefore it is completely correct and healthy for people with common sense and control, to stop when their body tells them to. It's not that complicated lovely. If it's hard for you, I think maybe you should take your own advice.
@13Bee1 I'm pretty healthy. I usually do what my body says. I only eat past the "had enough" signal if I know I'll be too busy to eat for a while. If I have a busy day ahead and barely a chance to eat lunch, I'll eat extra for breakfast to prepare.
I hardly ever watch TV. My worst eating habit is to be online longer than I intended, and put off eating until I get hungry. The opposite problem of people who eat a lot while watching TV.
@qwexas Okay, that's cool, you did not need to tell me your whole routine. If you think you're healthy, then fine. Just heed my previous words and know that eating until your body tells you you're full is correct and healthy. For those who over eat afterwards - its simply lack of self control. If you over eat while watching TV, don't eat while watching TV. Simple. I'm guessing you might be American, and that might happen a lot in America, but that's because lots of you develop bad eating habits.
@13Bee1 Part of self-control is overriding the body's signals - enduring pain, abstaining from sex, going outside in cold weather, staying up late the night before a deadline - we consider this honorable.
If you're full, it's very hard to keep eating, the body fights it. Full means running out of room. There is a region in Japan known for the people living over 100 years, and they have a saying, "Eat until you're 80% full."
@qwexas "Overriding" the body's signal to stop eating is very much different from "enduring pain, abstaining from sex etc etc" Those have nothing to do with functioning of the body's digestive system. Nothing.
Why are you telling me what "full" means as if I don't already know? As if I haven't been arguing about it this whole time with you? You're not very sharp are you. That is really interesting, thankyou for that fact, do you have a link? Also you completely ignored everything else, but okay.
@odd0odium Well, i'd been vegan quite many times in the last 2-3 years and by Vegan I'm 100%, but the lifestyle only lasted for about 1-2 months, because it's hard for me to eat with family :P
@PrincessKLS you don't have to see yourself as "fat" with an eating disorder. One of the eating disorder girls in this episode, the lightest one, sees herself as too thin. One episode they go shopping, and she didn't want to look at herself in a sleevless top because she hated her arms because they were much too thin
@Fadmam4131 A lot of women get stretch marks when they become pregnant (anyone can get them if their weight fluctuates) It is when the belly grows too fast for the skin.) Unfortunately it is one of those things that we can't do anything about except use moisteriser or olive oil. They fade with time, and some get them worse than others.
I know this isn't really productive for the genuinely anorexic people but as a fatty, I can't deny I watch this for pure thinspiration, the brunette in this was fat and she fixed it with extreme discipline, I absoloutely respect that as someone with no will power. Furthermore she's cute and looks better thin, she only needs to gain 2 to 5 lbs and just eat better types of food. Don't lead her back to the fat side, I WISH I could err on the side of thin than fat, so so much.
@scottylans and no, I'm not saying I'm a skinny chaser, I like shapey girls but some people just look better thin, it's their bodytype. If you've got 'the weakness' inside you - don't damn well tempt it. Good for her.
If you eat 1200 calories worth of chips, ice cream, starch, junk food, take aways, etc, it's just as bad as eating 1200 calories worth of fat free, vitamin lacking, empty calories. You'll look different, but the destruction to your body is equally bad in different areas. 1800-2500 calories is the correct amount IF you eat a well-balanced amount of actual food.
@santiismyantidrug It depends on the food and metabolic rate, but also, with that sort of diet you will have major health problems. Your body will eat the muscle and fat together, including the fat protecting your brain and muscles like your heart.
One year olds need 1200 calories? That seems like a bit much.
I always thought 1200 calories was the lowest amount of calories a woman could eat and still be in a safe, healthy zone, but this show makes it seem like it's really bad.
@writeyourheartout21 1800 is the lowest healthy calorie range. Children need that much because they are growing and their body needs the calories for energy. Restrict a child's calories and they will have developmental problems.
@SuperBenzid Stfu. You posted for attention so I'm doing you a favor. heres your attention. Eating 1000cals a day, depending on ur height and lifestyle is dangerous. If you eat like that often you're probably very disgusting looking. Good job. you've made yourself ugly lol
@qwertyisauiop 17 stone is 238 pounds.. for every 1 stone is 14 pounds.. so yes, i'm presuming that would be classed over weight. but it also depends on height and build.
that guy need a bra more than the girl

@scottylans You took the words straight out of my mouth! I 100% agree

RinzuRozu 2 months ago
how come when i eat 1200 calories per day nothing happens? ugh
santiismyantidrug 2 months ago
@santiismyantidrug It depends on the food and metabolic rate, but also, with that sort of diet you will have major health problems. Your body will eat the muscle and fat together, including the fat protecting your brain and muscles like your heart.

emadruga619 2 months ago
One year olds need 1200 calories? That seems like a bit much.
I always thought 1200 calories was the lowest amount of calories a woman could eat and still be in a safe, healthy zone, but this show makes it seem like it's really bad.
writeyourheartout21 2 months ago
@writeyourheartout21 1800 is the lowest healthy calorie range. Children need that much because they are growing and their body needs the calories for energy. Restrict a child's calories and they will have developmental problems.

@leeshaluv38 depends on the person but yeah it's pretty low.
daBOODA 2 months ago
@leeshaluv38 : You need to go take a nutrition class. Honestly, you have an issue if you think 1200 Calories for a woman is "not unhealthy".

@SuperBenzid Stfu. You posted for attention so I'm doing you a favor. heres your attention. Eating 1000cals a day, depending on ur height and lifestyle is dangerous. If you eat like that often you're probably very disgusting looking. Good job. you've made yourself ugly lol

qwertyisauiop 3 months ago
@qwertyisauiop depends on ur highth
boogiegirl123 3 months ago
@qwertyisauiop 17 stone is 238 pounds.. for every 1 stone is 14 pounds.. so yes, i'm presuming that would be classed over weight. but it also depends on height and build.
