The best mainstream musician out there. Seriously, like you're ever gonna see Kanye West or some noob like that play on the street with an epic guitar style that people can't help themselves from loving it.

@ncadencem he... kind of is... he wouldn't have the recognition he has now if it weren't for the radio playing his stuff... I got the album because I heard Zebra on the radio, and later, this. then again, i'm not so sure if radio play makes someone 'mainstream'

@ncadencem Our radio stations are odd.. Being Australian, it sometimes plays alot of Australian stuff.. I see the idea of mainstream music is simply songs that have a high recognition status due to radio play and big promotions. I suppose it also does define the type of music and the generally conventional layout, which John Butler isn't :)

He was playing in the street because he is cool! No, actually there was a beach clean-up in the morning, and the reward for all the volunteers was a free solo JB show on the boardwalk steps of Ocean Beach.
