  • Im getting one of these amps I hope :)

  • @series1riv

Be careful, I've seen too many people on feebay using my pictures for their ads...this is why I put the annoying copyright on the pictures. eBay doesn't make it easy to have the pictures pulled either. Just so you know, I still have all of the amps in this video and none are currently for sale...

  • @bigdwiz Im driving to the guys house :) hes a friend

  • @bigdwiz just found out for sure Im getting the 250 hcca friday cant wait to hook it up to my 3 dd 10 inch500 series subs :) dont worry Im going there to get it and test it first

  • so what is the point of the "din plug" on the hcca's? what would i hook it up to? if anyone can answer, thanks

  • @DaZeroCooL DIN plug is for connection to external x-overs, preamps or EQ's offered by Orion at the time these amps were available (early 90's)

  • @bigdwiz Ok so i would only be able to use a din plug with the orion brand xovers and eq's? also i have a 250hcca hooked up at the moment but it don't have a low pass as you know, how can i hook up a crossover to this amp? thanks

And could you bench test the 250 hcca you have to see what the real power these things can put out in 1ohm bridged

  • @DaZeroCooL

You can just use a regular crossover w/ RCA's if you don't have one of the old Orion or PPI ones w/ the DIN plug.

I will bench test the 250 HCCA in due time. Thanks for the comment.

  • i have a red hcca 275r just setting here when it was hooked up it had so much power i payed 50 bucks for it at a pond shop

  • i had one of those big ass hcca amps and i used two batterys,i couldnt get it to pound,my 1000 fosgate pounded way harder,i dont know why???i bought it for a 150 dollers my home boy still has it,,,,the power and ground were like 12 gauge ??????

  • @mr010tommy010 Which Fosgate 1000? The old Mosfet Power 1000? The Orion HCCA's want to be run at 1 ohm for the most power output.

  • Awesome amps!! I'm awaiting arrival of 2- Orion NT200 and 2-Orion NT100 amps!! Four of them baby!!!!! Orion all the way.

  • @bottomfeeder73 Wow, U guys are killin' me! We need some vids of those NT's, or send them to me and I'll make a video. You'll get them back, I promise... ;-)

  • @bigdwiz I have received one NT100 and two NT200 amps and one NT100 is in the mail as we speak. They are beautiful! Where are you located. I would be happy to let you test these babies!! ;)

  • Just picked up an Orion NT200. The purple cobalt one. yup. Orion for the win.

  • @mlc7boosted Oh man. You're gonna love it! I just purchased 4 of these amps. Well 2 are the 100s. Awesome. I used to have one and it is probably the best amp I have ever used. Better than the hcca amps no question!

  • @mlc7boosted And I'm not jealous...NOT. Nice amp! Those NT's are more rare than the HCCA's and super nice amps.

  • I had a 225 hcca and a ...cant remember what it was ..but it was black and looked just these did . I had the 225 running 2 12XTR'sdvc and it pounded amazing AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! NOT bad for alittle amp ! wish I had it still cause incredible amps for the day!

  • I really miss my 225. That was a STRONG little amp. 2 12's in a Blazer would smack some heads at 0.5 ohms.

  • What a throwback!! Orion "Reds" where the chit. I had two 250s pushing 4 15' vegas and one 225 for highs & mids. A 1990 honda civic 4 door with no back seat lol.

  • @arahb1 I bet that system slammed back then! Did you have any upgraded electrical? I'm curious to see what the 250 HCCA does on the test bench. I've done some preliminary tests w/ the 225 a while back and if IRC it put out over 300w at 2 ohms bridged, I didn't have the resistive load to try 1 ohm bridged, but I do now! It is rated at 400, but I bet it does 450, maybe 500. We'll see...Thx for the comment!

  • @bigdwiz That system setup was crazy. With an upgraded altenator and running 4ga pheniox gold wire from front to rear, two sets of MB Quart tweets, eight 6 1/2" CV mids, 8-Channel Autotek crossover, AC epicenter, & Denon CDplayer. I had to add two deep cycle marine batteries with capacitors to keep from killing my alt. The 250 "red" amps were power hungry and pushed the hell out of those dual voicecoil CV's. I missed pulling up @ Subway and shaking the food off the rack in the freezer. LMAO!

  • These amps are awesome. I always wanted one but, thy cost too much for me back in the day.

  • @bigassfordsd You and me both, brother. I would eagerly await the monthly car audio magazines hoping they would test output power of amps like the Orion HCCA"s...unfortunately, the amp output tests only came a few times a year and in most cases they were not the amps I was interested in. I couldn't afford them, but I also couldn't afford most of the car audio gear I wanted...

  • I had only seen one of those 2100's once and like you said it was in a competition vehicle the price range was to much for me though I was seriously considering selling a kidney to get one lol!!

  • @mrchrisk36 Yeah, none of my buddies had one back in the 90's. I think the fanciest amp one friend had was a HiFonics Zeus VII. I, myself, could only afford a 2nd hand RF Punch 150. I'm fortunate now to have most of the amps I could only dream about having many years ago. I'm SO glad some other people take care of their gear as well...these HCCA's are 20 years old and look near MINT!

  • @bigdwiz I had a zuess used from another comp vehicle it powered my cerwin vega 12's this was 1990

  • @mrchrisk36 You were ballin' back in 1990 with this gear! A Zeus and CV 12's? I bet those CV's needed about 2.5cu/ft each and prolly SLAMMED with the Zeus...

  • @bigdwiz what can I say :) I was young worked construction and other odd jobs so I had money to burn and the cruise night in san jose I had to be loud to stand out and it was I had a cat battery in the trunk a fan for the amp for the hot summer nights one of the few cars to ever have 1/0 wiring going from the front batt to the back and an alpine cd player that I got at cost but was still a pretty penny ended putting my alpine tape player back in cause it skipped to much it was loud back then :)

  • id like to pick up a 2100 someday :)

  • @mazda2284 At the rate you "pick up" amps and subs, I'm sure you'll come across one soon!

  • Ahh, ok :) Yes the DD-1 is a very good cheap alternative. You're going to want to re-test your amps all over again... haha :P

  • Very nice. I can't barely afford the used prices on those things.

  • I ran a digital reference 2100 awhile back on a single RF power HX2 15 wired in series at 4ohm's and it was unbelievable the amount of power that amp made. I didnt need more power it was VERY LOUD and the sound was AMAZING. Its was hard to believe that amp was pushing that speaker to the levels it did. even at 4ohms it sucks some juice...it never dropped lower than 12V but you could tell it wanted more power.

  • I know you havn't forgot, i just get pumped when i get updates about your videos. :) The DD-1 is a great tool. Did i tell you about it or did you hear about it on the web?

  • @subbinblazer I heard about the DD-1 months ago when Steve first showed off the prototype. I had already bought my o'scope, so thought I didn't need it. Turns out the DD-1's ability to measure distortion makes it like a mini-THD analyzer for amp testing. No way I could afford one of the pro THD analyzers, they are THOUSANDS!! I'm hoping to work w/ Steve to show alternative ways to use the scope other than just setting gains...they are already implementing the technology in the AD-1, coming soon

  • love the 2100 want one and 2250xtr or nt200

  • @the666bud I almost had an XTR 2250, but the guy selling it backed out. All those you mention are old school classics!

  • @bigdwiz seen some on ebay xtr100 and 200 want $900+ always wanted the nt line got to get a demo from orion van back in 97 had 24 12"xtr and 12 2250's few xtr400's 800's im still in love with it lol

  • Oh man the 2100!!!!!! That is THE amp for me.

  • @svtcontour Yeah, it took me YEARS to find one I could actually afford at the right condition. This one is pretty close to mint, considering it's age and the fact it has actually been used, I'd call it mint. These 2100's are BEASTS!! Very few Class A/B's made over the years put out more power.

  • I'm busy for the next few weeks working on another project, so I may not have time to do any videos and if I do, they will be short and easy to make, like this one...just be patient, I have some goodies planned and will get them done when time permits. Maybe I can do this full time one day and put out multiple videos a week....just need 50k or more subscribers and some sponsors...not holding my breath, but I'm patient!

  • Nice

  • Good stuff, let's see them new Rockford amps (punch 250 & 500M) :)

  • @subbinblazer You know I haven't forgot, right? I want to bench test these suckers and use my SMD DD-1 as it will detect distortion at 1%, so this will help give VERY accurate results in my tests, whereas now, I can't tell the distortion based on the o'scope's screen...I should get the DD-1 tomorrow, but as I mentioned before, I'll be unavailable to make the testing videos for a couple of weeks...

  • Awesome!
