On an artistic level, the IDO judges should be educated on the aesthetic of hip hop & start looking for movement quality beyond tension. Again, I do believe that there is a venue for these kinds of formations and I do not want to belittle the dancers' effort. But to call this a hip hop world championship, this event needs to respect the culture and history behind the term "hip hop" in order to be taken seriously.

@ChockedBazooka I agree and disagree the same time. You are right that there are many formations that totally not belong into the IDO's hip hop tournaments, I participate in the German championships myself. However, judging their style by their music is kinda overhasty if you ask me as they have plenty of hip hop music in their medley (well in the end it turns into dance/disco music, duuh). It may sound non-hip hop because it is totally unknown and everything but mainstream but that's just right

@xdingo93x yet these instrumentals are not hip hop. 0:15 to 1:27 uses the element of rapping plus synthesized beats... 1:28 to 2:21, as well as 2:21 to the electro beat, are hard-hitting instrumentals now popular in a lot of hip hop battles, yet they lack everything but the downbeat that characterizes hip hop music. I am talking De La Soul, KRS One, J Dilla etc. - this music here seems to me as flavourful as boiled cucumbers.

By no means do I want to take down on the dancers, but this is not hip hop dancing. There's a simple clue for it - the music is not of the hip hop genre, which has its rhythmical and instrumental roots in West-African and Afro-American as well as disco and funk music. No matter the evolution of the genre, there is a certain character to it that the particular music choice did not represent.
