I'm 14 my high is 300, I avg bout 225 though.. Can't wait til im 18 to try and get on the PBA tour, had a lot of practice at local tournaments & pba regional events..
When I was growing up, bowling was awesome. Unfortunately, my biggest weakness was getting too excited on a good frame and being all stressed out over one open. At around age 14 I was more about trying to reach the PBA (140 average yeah right) than being able to stay focused. 4 years later, I better understood volatility, improved my focus, and I'm improving today. College is a more reliable path for me right now.
Speaking of bowling, there is a suite that has two machine-operated bowling lanes, officially from Brunswick Bowling. I wish I live in a house like that.
boy this kid has talent, i wish i had bowled when i was that young. I picked up bowling 2 years ago, when i was twelve, none of my family members where really into bowling. i had little to no help, i still only have a 150 average and I'm happy with it. maybe some day I'll measure up to a few of the kids my age that are much better than me.
Great story. Brought back some awesome memories for me, growing up, watching Earl Anthony and Mark Roth on Saturday afternoons with my dad, then setting up the pins and bowling down the hallway.
I meant to add that at home I used to set up golf tees as pins and use these little plastic balls from a game. I used to get great pin action and spent hours and hours doing this. I was a nut.
Lol. I thought I was fanatical about bowling when I was a kid! And he got to meet my idol, Earl..unbelievable! I used to live in the alley on the weekends and summers. Boy, do I miss those real wood Brunswick lanes..such wonderful memories.
great story man love the little bowling lane in the apartment lol im a head mechanic at a 52 lane center and i know what it takes to build a bowling lane
We must watch this video ATLEAST 10 times a day, my 4 year old son loves this video! He has been doing the same thing since 2, his youtube video called "Bowling Diary of Mikey"
Heheh... almost sounds alot like me... minus the custom lane in the garage bit, of course.
Since it's so close to home, I have to ask, though, did he ever get a big head about his bowling? I know I did when I was younger, and by the time I'd reached 12 or 13, it was so bad, I ended up getting pulled out of my leagues and was forced to take a break.
I don't bowl seriously anymore, though maybe I'd've been on the tour had things gone differently.
Great video. I think me and DJ are about the same age. I had something similar at home, but not quite that good. Earl anthony was my hero back in those days too. I'll always wish I got to meet him or see him bowl in person.
The multi-colored plastic kids' bowling pins are widely available in most any toy store. It's a lot trickier to find white ones. In the old phots of me as a kid (seen from about 1:15 to 1:22 in the video), those old white pins could be found. But that was back in the '60s. Can't find 'em anymore. The white pins you see on the lane I built for my son are actually the same multi-colored pins...painted white. Look closely and you can see where the paint is coming off.
I'm his dad. I posted it. And produced it. DJ doesn't bowl any more. And neither do I. We play golf. I bowled better than I play golf. DJ didn't pursue bowling long enough to get as good at it as he might have, as his interest grew in other sports. He got quite good at certain other sports (basketball, for one). And he appears to be well on his way toward getting better at golf than his ol' man will ever be.
cool! Im 16, and this is my first year bowling. I got a job at my local bowling center, all i want to do is bowl. I have gotten real into the sport. Out of curiosity, how old are you 2 now?
