This was an exchange concert with the Princeton (MN) High School Concert Choir and the Luther College Collegiate Chorale. I was in the HS choir and remember this entire concert. The choir director at the time is a graduate from Luther so we had more than one of these concerts.
I'm 100% certain this was the year I was in this choir, as I remember this song and I think I remember the church. I'm so happy the comments here are so positive...it makes me really miss Luther....
Good news for those who are interested in the sheet music for this amazing piece! I spoke via e-mail with a professor at the Luther College of Music, and they are working on publishing the piece now. It should be out soon.
@EtheBman Was it ever actually published? I'm still looking for it, contacted Luther College about 6 months ago, and they didn't give me a straight answer...
I'd love to get a copy of this arrangement, even if I have to pay for it! Anyone? Alternately, I'd like to reach Mr. Zobel to request one, if someone can share how to contact him. This piece is more than worthy to be performed, if the composer agrees. Thank you!
I graduated from Luther 46 years ago, and have attended their concerts every time they come to Houston (seldom). They'll be here again in March 2009, and I can hardly wait.
This song was written by Dr. Mark Zobel, and it is set to the scripture of Psalm 23. The idea is for the lower voices to carry the song, as the Sopranos are only ornamental.
It's by a Luther alum, I believe his name is something like Mark Alan Zobel. This piece is one of the most beautiful choral pieces I've had the pleasure of singing. If I'm not mistaken, I believe he wrote it specifically for Collegiate awhile back because we had copies of a handwritten manuscript.
Bravo!
Thank you!

Oh wow...
I LOVE choirs, and I love when choirs do things RIGHT. This was...moving. Ever been moved to tears by music? Gorgeous feeling. God is good.

I'm also an alum of this group. We sang this on our spring, 2003 tour. I really miss it as well. Good "festive" times.
