I worked there the last 7 months it was open.then came back in january to start cleaning out the building but our job eneded.except for the welding robots and assembly line chain, everything else is in there.tools, tool boxes that workers couldnt take home, forklifts, copper welding tips, the hidden beds all of it.it was said that it would take 4 or 5 yrs just to clean it out before tearing down the building.
I was a temp at Moraine Assembly for a couple of yrs. My husband was a full time empoyee for 9 yrs. when the plant closed. This video, along with some of the others truly saddens me. It brings tears to my eyes when I see many of the people I did not know but would pass driving fork truck as well as several I did know. From paint, to the final line and the body shop to the docks, I will never forget my experiece at this plant. I loved the people and the job. Sad ending.Luck & Love to you all.
Now that all the rich fatcats have their way,and the decent paying jobsare gone,I wonder who will buy their cars, sign up for mortgages and put their kids to work at Kroger? Guess we NEEDED those so-called " overpaying auto jobs " AFTERALL! Proud of my Dad who WORKED 43 years at Delco Moraine!
The right wing fascists want to destroy the middle class and make this a nation of poor people willing to work for peanuts. We are on our way to being a 3rd world nation. But the richest 2% keep getting richer.
Another great video, Kim - as depressing as it is during the holiday season. I saw your pic of the last truck got picked up by the AP and attached to a few hundred newspapers today, Great Job! I wish the best to the workers of Moraine, you guys are awesome...
Im sorry I couldn't have been there to see the last truck roll off of the line I had 9 wonderful years there I will truly miss the good times and never will forget what GM has gave me in the years I was with them.Good luck to all of my fellow brother's and sister's may god be with us.Chassis group 3.Jennifer Alcorn
