I knew this was just going to be an ad for some small time YMCA club that wants to teach "Martial Arts"..this is basicly an LA Weightloss advertisement, cause it sure as hell isn't meant to teach you self defense. I mean listen to his quote at 1:10 ..are you kidding me? Props to the guy for trying to expand his fitness program, but...well..idk..I guess it's just not for me, lolz. Or anyone else that's serious about martial arts for that matter.
this is all crap.... i've been training muay thai and grappling for almost 3 years now and i can tell you - there is nothing better than kickboxing combined with some grappling techniques , all that eastern traditional martial arts crap really sucks , i've been to 11 competitions (all of them for amateurs of course , martial arts are just my hobby) and i can tell you - none of them was won by a karate-ka or a kung-fu practicioner - they were all won by wrestlers or boxers
I am black belt in Won wa do. The most important aspect of a martial artist is to be dedicated and move forward towards perfection. Then one develops both power and speed beyond what you can imagine. I moved to New York recently and i am thinking about joining a martial art place. Keep it up.Every young man should practice martial arts!
im takeing kempo karate right now and it goes over a little bit of Judo and Jujutsu
like how to fall corectly and when on the ground how to protect ur self.
i just wish we went over some stuff about Kendo because i would like to know how to weield<--- idk how to spell- a wepion if i am able to get 1. im a purple belt right now but when i get to black belt im thinking of try Kendo out =^-^= it looks like fun =^-^=
All japanese martial arts came from China. I f you want to learn a self defence that is better than jujutsu, then learn the chen style of tai chi. The chen style is not slow, the slow style of tai chi is called yang. If you learn chen style tai chi, with some chi na, and wing chun, you will be able to wipe out any jujutsu user, but you have to train like the chinese do, 8 hours a day 6 days a week for you to beat anybody who uses japanese martial arts, and i mean anybody, masters as well.
You guys are right - we are beginners at kendo. We train "workshop" style, where we practice together the best we can. Luckily we have some yudansha from area kendo groups who come in and try to help us!
After visiting your website, I notice that you don't list an instructor for kendo. Who is your instructor and what kendo organization are you affiliated with?
