I feel like i've heard this song befor, like some band or someone, or from something. Anyone got any clue if some band has coverd or used this song?!?
Im Zonnnneddd LOVE listening to Ratatat!!!!!! so stoned.. its so peacfull i feel no worries thanks ratatat =) Its great music like this can inspire other great music such as kid cudi=) Those melodies.....
"Regardless of the repitiveness of the song, it just shows no skill at all on a musical level, i've made far better songs after just messing around on FL studio for about an hour."
Says it all really.
When is your album coming out? Is your first tour coming through Canada, too? I'd really like to see you perform live.
I obviously wasn't, to any person with an IQ larger than their shoe size, saying that as a statement of how good i am. I was saying it so that he could understand that, even i, with 1-2 hours and a basic understanding of FL Studio, can create a basic outline of a song which shows more skill on a technical level than this song.
TL;DR: I wasn't saying how good i am, i was saying how shit Ratata is at creating music that isn't just catchy drivel.
I first heard this inside a bookstore in Pomona. I was in the middle of browsing the poetry books, using this song as background to the stuff I read. It made it so much more moving. I asked the book clerk woman (who was about 75 years old) who it was, and she said "Ratatat. They're one of my favorites!"
Because it's boring and repetitive, just like every other Ratata song.
It's just the same thing for 4 minutes.
Regardless of the repitiveness of the song, it just shows no skill at all on a musical level, i've made far better songs after just messing around on FL studio for about an hour.
Hey dickface, how about you post the so called "far better songs" you've made then we will see how much you know about music. If all you hear in their music is repetitiveness, then you should pack it in as music listener/ human being.
Firstly, that was a typo, and i don't give a shit either way.
Secondly, being a "human being" has nothing to do with music, and the fact that i don't like this song, doesn't mean i should "pack it in as a music listener" you fucking tool. I'm sure there's plenty of songs i like that you don't like, but you don't see me telling you to "pack it in as a music listener/ human being."
Thirdly, even if i posted the greatest song in the history of man, you would say its shit regardless.
dude, are you a fucking retard? if you wouldve just said hey this is not my cup of tea or i dont get this music , i couldve respected that but when you start making claims like "it just shows no skill at all on a musical level, i've made far better songs after just messing around on FL studio", then i have to call you out on your bullshit. IF and thats a huge IF, you actually post something better than any of Ratatat's songs, i will become your biggest fan. ball's in your court.
"Thirdly, even if i posted the greatest song in the history of man, you would say its shit regardless"
Musical taste is subjective, there is no such thing as the greatest song in the history of man... it's different for everyone.
That being said, people will always take personal offense when others show distaste for music that they love. In essence, the music people love is a reflection of themselves, and to attack the music is to attack the person indirectly.
I knew somebody would reply with an imbecilic comment about how taste in music is different from person to person. I was using "greatest song" in the context of the opinion of "alidasher".
Also, not once did i question as to why "alidasher" is offended by my dislike of this song, so why the fuck are you explaining an extremely simple concept to somebody who already fully understands?
Because clearly if you understood said simple concept, you wouldn't be making such an effort to prove why this song is bad and get all butthurt when someone calls you on it. Trying to subtly preach your intellectual superiority is really cute, too.
I stated my opinion. Somebody asked me to elaborate on my opinion, so that's what i did. At no point did i try to say that my opinion is absolutey correct and everyone should think how i do. I wasn't trying to prove why this song is bad, i was trying to express my opinion.
Also, i wasn't "butthurt" over him calling out my opinion, i was annoyed at how he thinks music taste determines whether or not you're worthy enough to live. If anything, he is the one who doesn't understand.
@rich8642 Think of it this way, Kings of Leon was an amazing band when they weren't very known, they got discovered by mainstream record producers and their songs started to turn into shit. I still love Ratatat and Kings of Leon, but Kings of Leon just sold out... If you havn't heard of Modest Mouse, I suggest you try them out. They are a really good underground band that isn't that popular. Or you can try Raised by Swans. I'm not trying to be an asshole with the comment I made....
That's bullshit, Kings of Leon turned shit, and THEN they got signed to a new record producer, it was of their own doing, and NOT the record producers fault.
this song after a long day... yes

the way the strings flow with the beats and the notes of the keyboard, it's just majic, almost spiritual

How the fuck can you "reduce the music" just because a lot of people like it?
The song is exactly the same, regardless of how many fucking people like it.
You're just one of those tools who stops liking a band, just because they've become quite popular.
