@PianoGirl555 Harry Eden. He's just been in Flashbacks of a Fool with Daniel Craig, Peter Pan in 2003 with Jeremy Sumpter, Jason Isaacs and Rachel Hurd-Wood, The Lazarus Child with Andy Garcia and Pure with Keira Knightley (and some smaller projects) Watch them he's amazing :)
@ilovehorses100100 Having grown up on the '68 Oliver!, I would say that comparing these two is difficult, if not impossible. What I will say is that the characters seemed less lively and interesting than the musical. Granted it is insane to attempt to fill the shoes of Oliver Reed, but Sykes just wasn't a very imposing character in this version. Overall, the '68 "Oliver!" was leaps ahead of this movie in terms of charisma, but this movie takes a more gritty approach.
i studied that novel when i was young iam now 30 yearsold,i liked nancy charles dickens was so miserable dramatic person cuz he was poor worked as a worker in a wine factory
This film was appauling watched it today and could'nt believe how much they used the same lines and tried to make everyone look the same! Nothing like the real film Oliver! Never try to recreate a film always ends up bad!!
@Thelincolns1 are you saying that this movie is a bad remake one of the older ones because it had the same lines? seriously? this film, and the "real film" that you're comparing it to, are based on the same book, of course they'll have lots of similar dialogue!!!!!! half of what the characters say in this movie, as well as the original, are taken straight from the book! you can't possibly slam this movie for using the same dialogue.
i just got done reading this book for a class, and i loved it! i didnt know there was a more recent movie out there untill i had to do some research on it. i wanna see it now...
I just viewed Roman Polanski's version of "Oliver Twist" for first time and must say it really is well done. It depicts how difficult life really was during Dickens' time in the 19th century. I am suprised the director did not receive awards for this. I wish Poalnski would consider directing Dicken's classic "A Christmas Carol", someday.
@TheTitto Back than hankercheifs were made from very nice materials that were actually worth a lot of money. Only rich people had them, they were usually hanging out the back pocket so they were pretty easy money.
I read the book 9 years ago and I just watched the film today. I am somehow happy 'cause what I imagined before while reading the book and what they have shown to the film is quite similar. :D I'm proud of myself. LOL
the only good part of that is "fdancy that, you famouse fagin!" *fagin hits him* "oof!" awwwww cute! but its not better than the origional and Jack wild was wayyy better. R.I.P mate :'-(
well whatever he do in his private life and happened to his family that his and governments business but have to admit he is a fukin class director..Roman Polanski
wow.. this movie is like great message, to everybody, to me.. to never complain about our little problems, our life is much better than his, really.. depressing movie but true. true Roman Polanski's style
We are gonna do the play in my acting class and there is like 3 guys in the group! So what part did i got? Harry -.- yes you may laugh! ugh! Not me playing a guy again!
I watched this movie with my class for my english lesson, and now, I have to fill in a couple papers about the movie, but I have a question, what's the name of Mr. Brownlow's wife? (the name of the movie)
A great movie, warm and touching at the same time <3 I'm proud to be related by nationality with the director.
