  • id sponsor him...

  • haha he looks kinda short.

  • this kid in my school were great friends lol

  • Sharapova?

  • he has the same birthday as me!!!

  • this kid is older than my dad

  • He has very nice all around technique but he looks 10... perhaps 9 in this video. Regardless his technique is awesome.

  • Very interesting young player but he must work more his backhand bcause the ball is not lifted enough, that's why we see the ball goes in the air.

  • He was born April 15, 1999 according to Ontario Birth Certificate,

But so much muture, Height, Forehand, BackHand, Volley,

Look at his serve, Believe it or not, it looks like he was born in

other country & one year is taken away from his Birth certificate.

if you say 9 yrs old , i agree. Ask Tennis Parents They will tell

you shaving one year from birth certificate is common to give

Kids head start in Junior Ranking. ( Provided Kid is born Outside

    of USA or Canada )

  • He was born April 15, 1999 in Israel and coming to Ontario after 6 month from his born

  • why hes jumping all the time ?

  • @TheMruq

Well I don't play tennis, I play badminton, but I'm guessing we jump for the same reason. It's cuz when you jump you get more impulsion for the next shot. It's way easier to get a shot when you jump and are already ready then if you're not and have to scramble to move.

  • @Nongamblerpokerfan

so you dont know how to do this when you dont play . i play tennis and i know how to play . you jump to get more power and impulsion but when you hit the ball , not all the time .

  • @TheMruq

O well. At least I got part of it right :P

  • @TheMruq hes talking about a split step, not while actually hitting. and he might jump because he probably barely reaches over the net.. by jumping he might be able to hit a high to low pattern which allows him to hit more offensive shots. I don't really know if thats why hes doing it though.. I didn't play like that when I was 8. Atleast when he jumps he's transferring his weight forward

  • HAHAHA chill with the music. he's 8.

  • Hitting sum high balls my friend.

  • This kid is better than most highschool players in the U.S. Nice work.

  • this kid looks better than agassi at age 8

  • hes good... but 8yrs old?? hmmmmmm..

and a two hander backhand would be sweeter

  • well its to early to say his future but hes definetely going to be great tennis player and also please post a new video now its a couple of years on and i wanna see how hes doing

  • his backhand is shit!!..just kidding!!...pretty impressive!!!

  • the song was horrible!!!!

  • too young for a 1 hander

  • @mdsureshots50

im just curious but how old would be old enough to switch to the single backhand?

does it have to do with weight height etc?

  • @bigpeezyweezy I would say anywhere from 12-15. It just has to do with the maturity of the shoulders. Kid's younger than 12 or so do not have the upper body strength to properly hit a 1 hander

  • @mdsureshots50

    thanks for reply

im currently in class for my coach 2

    are you a coach yourself?

  • @bigpeezyweezy I am actually currently playing division 1 tennis, but I also teach lessons quite often

  • he plays almost like me and I'm 13!!

  • @aguantedelpo2 - I have just seen you play... no comparison.... Keep up the good work Denis...

  • @aguantedelpo2 woh really you're 13? cool!!!!!

  • He is 3 U12 in Canada

  • For 8 years old, now probably 9 or 10, that's some sweet skills, man. Great forehand, good backhand (For your age), and your volleys are nice and crisp. Overall, AWESOME! If I needed to point out ONE bad thing, it'd be that oneeeee little overhead you weren't too sure about.

  • I noticed that he has good hands. You can tell when someone is comfortable at the net there is almost a since of inner calm.

  • does he give tennis lessons? i'm interested.

  • he would destroy jan silva

  • awesome forehand!!

    backhand needs to be improved!!

keep working and you will get to the top!!!

  • oh yeah well im 3rd in nova scotia boyzzz

    U 12

  • lmao why is every1 tryin to find weaknesses in his gam elyk his footwork on his backhand hes 8 !! i been playin since i were 7 and my footwork didnt come properly untill i were 14 and now its my biggest strenth

  • lefty

  • if i were him i would change to double backhand, i did, and now im a much better player

  • O my god...

im 14 and i wish i had his forehand lol

  • i hope he come to learn that when you play pro, there is no way you can play every point at the net like he does

  • he's not that good

  • @amzee2 hes only 8 years old

  • He's good, Is he playing tourneys

  • Yes, he is. He beat my little brother in straight sets

  • What is his rank

  • i don't know anymore, it was 2 years ago. then he was something like 2nd in ontario

  • not this song come on

  • never going to be pro with music like that

  • if its the head prestigue.. then probably a bit stiff and heavy for an 8 year old.. better be using a soft synthetic gut string and not a poly or his arm will drop off..

  • whats with the gay music??

  • good form. im 13 and i cant hit a one handed backhand

  • eh...terrible footwork on his backhand

  • @skaterbrah22 give him a break hes 8 years old

  • the music is so gay

  • He's 8, how old are you????????

  • WELL HES OTHER VID IS BETTER

  • I think it's a gifted boy. I admire the way he plays and his single-handed backhand!!! We may see him in a few years at Grand Slams and ATP tournaments!!! Who knows!!!

  • sorry but u stink.bad music choice.

  • i agree with eddie, i bet tennis was forced on him as a kid. The kid has alot of talent though but he wont be able too be one of the best if he doesnt love the sport himself.

  • who picked the music..

    hes good

  • don't listen to negative comment these people give. the boy is 8 YEARS OLD most boys his age are too busy playing with toys or freeze tag. He's definately got potential no doubt and if he continues to improve I would sign him up for Junior tournaments and then Challengers Tournaments around 17 or 18 once hes gotten confident winning a few games. make him achieve a national ranking and then let him join the ATP and who knows you may have a future prospect in the making. Good Luck and all the best

  • Denis is a very talented and gifted tennis player. His footwork and hand eye coordination are superb. He obviously loves the game and works hard. Good luck.

  • yeah just wait till he doesnt develop and every other 8 year old passes him up in 3 years lol

  • he amazing 4 his age

  • good stuff... can you look at Jeddys tennis

  • i like his game except his backhand and his server they both need a little work but this kid will be real good at 14 or 15

  • 19,001 view WOOT

  • he must of been pushed so hard by his parents.

  • terrible music, good tennis, kid might be a contender.

  • he looks as if he is in the tennis buisness for gear and all of the clothes but as i can see from his smashes and service he is good

but try not to be so cute on them

  • He´s smash are very very very weak! He have to train more the smashes!!!!

  • This is a good tennis player!!! Is this type of player i want to play!!! Hard player!!!!

  • marcelo bustos (chile) vs DENIS SHAPOVALOV

  • His tennis is perfect.. but is he really 8 year old?

  • Yes,he was born on April 15/1999 video recorded on Sept.2007

  • This kid is the real deal. He does need to learn how to rip across his bhand like federer does. True most little tennis kids on u tube suck and just have sick parents. This kid is clearly hardcore already.

  • i could beat this kid when i was 8.

  • change the music and you'll get a sponsor

  • wow your going to be good kid youve got nice strokes your going pro and dont let anyone stop you way to go

  • wow i thought i was the only one who had the last name of shapovalov, i guess not.

  • this kids got everything well done to the coach..

  • is his favorite player gasquet because it looks like hes modeled his backhand after his

  • Like Gasquet? Gasquet has wicked topspin in his execution with a flick finish. The kid is very young bet he puts no topspin on the backhand. He needs to brush the finish better, which he can do better once he builds some muscle.

  • you see heres someone thats actually good instead of all the other 8 year olds on this that have no talent at all.

  • backhand: he should pull it more to the sky and not to the left. and smash: hit the ball over your head! it's much better then, i swear! please try it.

  • forehand: almost perfect, but too much little jumps between.

  • He doesn't hit that hard, but for his age he's very good. His technique is very good... all he needs is strength. I played his brother and him and his brother practice about 9h a day, with their mom, who is their trainer.

  • check out Jeddyboy, by the way Denis is exellent

  • does he play as an attacking baseliner or does he use serve-volley?

  • omg he is freaking 8 yrs old obviously he is no serve and vollyer!

  • he's using a FREAKIN 12 ounce racket...ur right this kid definatley couldnt be a serve-volleyer. if u havent noticed hes a prodigy.

  • tryhard

  • First of all he is not 8 years old. I am watching B10's tournaments every week (usta eastern). There are a lot kids like this boy (even better). But he is not bad at all.

  • This boy is from Canada, Ontario (Richmond Hill)

He was born on April 15, 1999.If you want to check: Toll Free No. 1-800-387-5066 (Tennis Ontario).

  • Some of you don't know tennis at all. This kid is a pretty big and strong boy for his age. No way is that racquet too big or heavy for him at all. The racquet is just fine for him.

  • finally somebody that knows something about tennis, he is huge for being an 8 yr old and it is always better to train with a regular size raquet you get more time to get accustomed to the brand (head babolat prince etc)

  • Wow great player for his age

Are u in the us or elsewhere?

ull be great in high school if you keep working on this good work

  • Probably the best for his age I've ever seen! One question...does he use serve-volley technique or attacking baseliner. And an eight year old using a 12 oz racket...unbelievable! You should be very proud!

  • Do any of you know if there is any tennis academys in canada???? send me a message on youtube bjcbubble

  • If he's 8 he shoudlnt be playing with a 12 ounce

  • Excellent! I need not say more, best strokes, and complete player. I think your son and my daughter might be mixed dubs partners when they turn pro.

  • fantastic!

  • I'm 12 almost 13 and I've been playing for 7 years and theres and 7 and 9 year old in my middle school competitive class and pretty good!

  • little kids like him shouldn't be playing with 12 ounce rackets

  • This kid is a special. He can play with this racquet.

  • Does he play with the head prestige?

  • he play with the head flexpoint prestige

  • The prestige version that weights 320 grams? Woow, I've never seen a 8 year old kid playing with a racket heavier than 290grams. I'm a tennistrainer... By the way, what kind of type playing has he? Defensive baseliner, attacking baseliner, serve-volley?

  • How many kids 8 years old did you see playing serve-volley game style? But if seriously, we are creating his game style as a full court player.

  • Cool, good luck!!

  • daaang that's one hell of a kid.
