  • Now I am informed that Alan Menken was "Amadeus", I can actually appreciate this song more. He really puts an amazing amount of energy to this song.

  • Beliefs generated and sustained by the devil whispering in your ear...fear of persecution for who you are as a person...a man who brings a city to ruins by doing what he believes is the right thing...the union of minorities against the authoritarian rule of the city's judge...a soldier, once a servent of a misguided ruler of the law finding redemption in seeing what is right and rebelling against his barbaric regime of ethnic clensing...and yet this is still one of the greatest childrens films.

  • This is one of the all movies that i loved forever...

  • you have been hurt quasi (sob) that much i know... (sob)

  • When I take of my makeup, quasi's part is stuck in my part where he says I am deformed blah blah blah xD bahahaha that's awful

  • STILL can't believe Tom Hulce makes the Quasimodo's voice...

  • It's hard to believe that this is Disney sometimes but it's just so MEAN!

  • Frollolololo lo-lo-lo lo lo lo...

Every character in this movie has a beautiful voice.

  • Goosebumps >.< <3

  • Frollo is a trollo ):<

  • definitely one of my favorite disney songs in the universe.

  • thbe funny thing is frollos right, they WOULDNT have accepted him out there in the time period this is set. They become much more open in the sequel where paris lost 90% of the population though

  • Anyone notice the parallels from this to the Tangled song Mother Knows Best? Even the animation that goes with it has a little bit.

  • @LongshotLink i know right! so similar!

  • love this song!!!

  • Frollo is cruel...Frollo is wicked...he's the only guy you can't trust in this whole city..Quasimodo is your only friend..

  • As a musician, one of my favorite feelings in the world is when the music you're playing with other instruments around you starts to swell and reach a climactic height, so I can't even imagine how Tom Hulce (voice of Quasimodo) must have felt singing "All my life I wonder how it feels to pass a day..." from 2:07 to 2:20 . I can barely contain myself just listening to it. Just think of the rush he must have got singing it!

  • Tom Hulce does this beautifully. And Alan Menken is a genius (but you already knew that.)

  • I'm reading the novel (the abridged version) that this film was based off of in my French lit class right now. Literary enthusiasts may demoan this adaptation, but I think that they're missing the big picture- these two versions are totally separate entities, and whatever of the original pops up in the Disney film is great, but however they choose to alter the story is okay too. The result is, I think, an equally competent and passionate ride about a tumultuous point in history.

  • @GiantPetRat I couldn't agree more. I've read several critical slams against this movie because it doesn't follow the book. However, the movie is not the book, and it never tries to be. The book more serves as the inspiration for this movie. I mean, almost everything in the movie is some interpretation of an event in the book. Personally, I love both stories. I love their different themes, moods, characters. I respect their differences, and I believe both are great works.

  • it would be so incredible if they did a theatre production of this movie<3

  • @britainfan4lyf I KNOW! I'm always saying that...

  • @britainfan4lyf Hell, if Lion King and Beauy and the Beast are able to make themselves into musicals, I don't see why either this or Nightmare Before Christmas can't be.

  • @britainfan4lyf There is a musical of this movie in disney land. And there are plans to make this a broadway musical in the netherlands. :D

  • I'm sorry if you don't agree, but this (in my opinion) is one of the most beautiful songs Disney has produced. I wish people would just listen to the passion and emotion in Quasimodo at how much he wants to be among people, EVEN THOUGH HE KNOWS THEY WILL HATE HIM!! When will this song and film get the recognition they deserve!?!?!

  • The three dislikes are the gargoyles who did it to be funny... c'mon guys it's obvious

  • @ayoungfool

Couldn't agree more. And if there's a 4th dislike, I'll know my dad found this video.

  • The world is gay,oh boy,Marick's dad...he is the man,OUT THERE yu gi oh abridged;

  • I hope everyone who watched this movie got at least some basic appreciation of how blessed they are to have what they do.

  • I just remember, even as a kid, how much this song made me appreciate just being able to get up and out in the world...

  • Frollo and the two oaf guards disliked this. You know, the one that saw him masturbating into the fire

  • Frollo: Oh, my dear Quasimodo. You don't know what's it's like out there. I do. I DO....

Me: Yeah. The only thing cruel about the world is the lies coming from your mouth!

  • @pbscraze he says something like that at the end of the film, lol!!

  • this song has so many double meanings....

  • @robertwizzy666 as does everything in the movie, lol!

  • 3 people will not be out there

  • great songs and story like disney should be

not like it is what is has become

  • Oh No !! He swallowed the goat :O

  • The part where he's like "Heedless of the gift it is to BE them!" just makes the song for me.

  • I like that his voice is so pretty! lol :D

  • miss SO MUCH disney films like this Y.Y this songs always makes me cry, it is wonderful

  • @Melizzle100

That's exactly wut I was thinking of!

  • @aMgVbros4aetas oh, wow, that's trippy.

  • @aMgVbros4aetas wait, that guy from Amadeus?? O.O

  • It's a scary world out there,

Mother Knows best, one way or another, something will go wrong, I swear!

Ruffians, thugs, posion ivy, quicksand, cannibals and snakes *gasp* THE PLAGUE

    NO! YES!

Also large bugs, men with pointy teeth and stop no more, you'll just upset me!

  • I really felt like b****slapping Frollo throughout the whole movie. He's basically one of the cruelest villains in disney!!!:( I'm so glad justice was served in the end:) this is such a lovely song, but I hated the beginning because of him-:[

  • I who filled your play station with beer! why are you so bitchey when i gave you a play station!? stay dowe! because its niiiice! XD

  • @aMgVbros4aetas: signed. I especially love 'Mary Poppins'; it's an all-time treasure and one of my fondest childhood memories. Just as unforgettable as'The Jungle Book', ,Aristocats' and 'Chitty chitty bang Bang'. And who could ever forget that 'it's a small world after all'?

  • does anyone know who sings for quasi? i think he's got a great voice and NEED to know.

  • not gonna lie, yugioh the abridged series brought me here. LOVE this movie!! <3

  • those strings... AMAZING. I wish I had an instrumental

  • I love "If I was in their skin, I'd treasure every instant out there". Makes you appreciate what you have and be "content with your share". Disney, you shaped my morals.... <3

  • Frollo reminds me of Snape..well his voice does anyway.

  • "Only a monster" gets me every time

  • OUT THERE BEYOND YONKERS BARNABY

  • his bravado is outstanding

  • Two people are 10 times uglier in the inside than Quasimodo is in the outside.

  • Such a powerful piece with incredible soaring melodies and beautiful voices! I love this entire score. I would love to see this turned into a musical. It would be absolutely brilliant!!!!

  • @d8e20t1990 You say this as if it hasn't been done >>

  • @Umikawauso2 Now I am not an expert on musical theater and all but I haven't seen it as a Broadway Musical in New York City yet. That is what I was meaning to say. I heard there was something like that in Europe at one moment in time but I can travel over there to see it.

  • i cry when he calls himself ugly...

  • The world cruel, the world is wicked. The nostalgia critic is your only friend, thumbs up if he sent you here.

  • @justicegang what review was that from?

  • @Regice371

Superman the Animated Series. Tony Jay voiced Jor-El's dad.

  • By far the best celebrity singing of the Disney Renaissance.

  • This song just hits home so hard...It's so beautiful, but so tragic. I hate that I can relate to this song so much. But still, such a great triumph for Alan. This song is just gorgeous, same goes to Stephen Schwartz for the lyrics. Everything just works so well in this song :] A true masterpiece, just like the movie.

  • The only thing I hate about these "bring back old disney" comments is that they are too fricken long, we get the point after you name every fricken possible family substituion -.-

  • Comment removed

  • @fxnavarro its funny you don't have the patience to read one inch comments.

  • @robiking011 actuallly I've read the comments, my issue is that they are on every disney video -.-

  • Beautiful voice and beautiful song, definitely one of my favourites ever.

  • Does anyone else get overwhelming chills during this song? Some of the music in this film I think is of Alan Menken's greatest and is sadly so very very underrated.

  • @lavalamp625 i totally feel the same!! the hunchback of notre dame is definitely my favorite disney movie. disney movies are truly beautiful

  • @lavalamp625: Alan Menken is a genius; no kidding there. And yes, this soundtrack is sadly enough quite underrated, I guess because it's probably one of, if not *the* darkest, most controversial movie that ever left the Disney studios. There's murder, opression, blackmail, unrequitted love, insanity, outlawing, attempts at sexual assault and what not more. I also love "God help the Outcasts" very much, aswell as "Bells of Notre Dame". Up to this day, Menken is probably Disneys greatest composer

  • 1:45-4:24 Stuck in my head during my math test today. Best. Distraction. Ever.

  • @tubaliz1 That happens to me all the time!

  • I never really liked this movie before, but when I watched it again a few weeks ago and saw what a great movie it was. Especially the soundtrack is one of the best made by Disney and is almost at the level of The Lion King (which is my favorite movie). Also Frollo is probably the most despicable villain of all Disney movies.

  • danm only becouse frollo say heys ugley hey never left the tower >_<

i think quasi is realy cute ^-^

  • @BlarkUntVhite that comment literally made me fall off my bed laughing.

  • Who could forget Ursula, the tentacled drag queen bent on sea-world domination?

Scar, whose goosestepping hyenas invaded Mufasa's pride?

Gaston, the he-man who stalks a woman and imprisons her dad in an asylum?

Maleficent, the cold eyed witch dragon with a pet raven?

Jafar, a metrosexual vizier who practices black sorcery?

Frollo, the medieval, religious, lust-ridden judge, bent on raping and murdering a dancer and annihilating the gypsy race?

Repost if you want REAL Disney villains again!

  • This song, right here, is why Frollo is the worst Disney villian. Urula, Maleficent, Cruella, they've got nothing on him. Because Frollo has raised Quasimodo to believe that he's ugly, that he's a lesser person, that the world hates him. That's the worst type of human being there is. "Out There," and "Hellfire" both give me chills, because they give us insight to REAL ugliness.

  • @singingintherain1967 that is so true, the worst crime is to destroy someones soul, confidence, self love.

  • I FUCKING LOVE ALAN MENKEN

  • @AdemiaDavenport

Growing up my two brothers were Aladdin and Tarzan, Growing up Jack Skellington was my father, Growing up Timon&Pumbaa were my best friends, and Growing up Belle was my mother.

This may not be a repost AdemiaDavenport, but I concur that it is wonderful to be a 90's kid, and it was a truly magical decade. My spine tingles simply to remember such wonderful times :)

  • "the world is gay,

    the world is stupid,

its me alone you can trust in this whole tomb thing-

    i am your daddy guy"

"i who spank you, whip you, flay you, beat you

i who filled your Playstation with beer

why are you so b*tchy when i gave you a Playstation-

stay down here because its niiiice."

this is was i hear when this song plays- thank you Yugi oh TAS.

  • I am your ooooonly frieeeeeeend....

    *Rape face*

  • Alan Menken really is a Disney Legend for creating such wonderful scores.

  • SO underated..this is such a beautiful movie.

  • The "You are deformed. I am deformed. And you are ugly. And I am ugly." part really gives me chills.

  • What really gets me is the very beginning with string instruments; they're so deep and haunting, expressing the darkness and sadness of the scene.

When I was young, I'd listen to this song and my heart would ache and I would cry because I felt like I had no one and didn't fit in so it was like the song was written for me.

This is truly one of the best Disney songs in my opinion!

  • @jfkjrlover No matter how bad things may be there is always someone in the world that has it worse. Keep your head up and stay strong, there always something postive that comes out of struggle believe me I know.

  • I love this so much <3 His voice is fantastic!!!

  • @AdemiaDavenport Not just us 90's kids. Kids of the 50, 60, 70, and 80's, too. :)

  • @AdemiaDavenport Hate to break it to you, but the majority of those movies aren't from the 90s. Bambi is from the 40s, Peter Pan is from the 50s, 101 Dalmations and Jungle Book are from the 60s and Little Mermaid is from the 80s. Those films have been loved and watched by generations of kids and they are not strictly limited to 90s kids.

  • @ecermusic Excuse you "I'm proud to say I am a 90's kid." does not state that any of those movies were made in the 90's. I was more implying that the 2000 movies don't have the same charm as the ones I watched as a child. Seeing as I was born in '91 I am indeed, a 90's kid. And all I had written about the 90's was that statement ---> "I'm proud to say I am a 90's kid." So be for you go off on someone, why don't you READ.

  • @AdemiaDavenport I was born in 92 and my first movie that I love was Hunchback so I feel what you are saying. P.S. 90 babies ROCK 8 )

  • @ironmadienfirefly Why thank you ^^

  • @AdemiaDavenport beautifully said!

  • The "Not above them. but part of them" part gives me chills.

  • My heart is Quasi and My Brain is frollo.

  • This song makes me want to cry. There's just a such a sincerity to his voice. It's beautiful.

  • Did you know during the movie, Belle makes a cameo appearance in Out There?

  • @broadwaymike92 Yeah, completely oblivious since she's still got her nose in a book, lol. There's a guy cleaning the carpet from Aladdin in that scene too.

  • @broadwaymike92 No way? Really? Where?

  • i am in love with quasimodo's voice. omg.

  • Oh god.. This song is just amazing!

  • Alan Menken is good composer

  • @SoundCopyist he's the best disney's ever had

  • I love Quasi so much! he's so lovable. How could anyone hate him. I love this song and his voice. This movie has gorgeous music. :D

  • Why you put him down like that Frollo?....i hate this part...i wanted to be like no he isn't Frollo, your just jealous he has a heart....

  • @honeyzdanielle STOP TALKING, WE DON'T CARE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY

  • @coolimabob your the only one that has said something . I'm good, I'll keep talking. You got a Frollo attitude, but I'm not gone obey lmbo

  • great song, i love this movie

  • Quasi has such a nice voice. :-)

  • No words to explan epicness

  • i love this movie. i haven't seen the second one yet though

  • @kuramahatesrice NOT recommendable

  • @mamamia322 that bad huh?

  • @kuramahatesrice yeah everything that made this movie so good cn't be found in the second one. it looks more like those religious cartoons of the 80' XD but if you can't fall asleep than that movie IS recomendeble XD

  • @mamamia322 wow that sucks. i was hoping it would be good then again the only disney sequal that i can think of that was good was the little mermaid 2. i liked that one

  • @kuramahatesrice Also the Lion King 2! lol

  • @kuramahatesrice The Toy Story sequels were great.

  • HIS VOICE! Oh gosh it's amazing.

  • @ksmithity Have you seen yu-gi-oh Marik Pretty Much have the dilemma, except he's underground, he's dad Carved his back, whipped him, and he's not allowed to go outside because of a dead guy who died 5000 years ago said so

  • @darkusbakugan08 i was just thinking the same thing. but Quasi had it worse though bc he didn't turn evil haha

  • Out There Dueling in Japan!!... Wait wrong Song

  • Shame you don't see this kind of talent on America's Got Talent or somesuch...if done right, it'd be no-hold's barred and hands down.

  • @HerrCollier What Happens if Piers rejected it?

  • Thumbs up if you think Quasimodo is the most beautiful person in this movie.

  • @Honeybeestarify To be honest, I think Quasimodo might be the ONLY beautiful person in this movie, truly. And I adore this film to death.

  • @Honeybeestarify ok him, and then clopin!! <3 lolz

  • @ksmithity Tangled was shit

  • @MrKaaarl to be honest, thats not one man's place to say. if you don't like it, that does'nt necessarily make it bad. it just means YOU dont like it.

  • @MrGunsrFun I agree with you man. That's not right.

  • I hope to goodness this will be one of the films Disney chooses to replay in theatres in 3-D. <3

  • hardcore. man

  • I laugh because of the YTAS version with Marik XDDD

  • @HollyHockAoi lol I came to this because I was watching that! I'm gonna go listen to littlekuriboh's version again! I love his Marik voice!!!

  • I LOVE Quasimodo's voice ; n ; <3

  • Frollo: Oh, my dear Quasimodo.....You don't know what it's like out there. I do. I DO....

Me: Maybe the only thing dark about this world Frollo is the dirty fibs coming from your mouth!

  • @Darth5Steel Not even close...

  • Bucky Larson=Quasi Modo?

  • it's been so long since i've seen this movie. ive almost forgotten how sad, beautiful, and amazing the soundtrack is.

  • @ksmithity Fuck Tangled. Go with the original story.

  • @greenday3091 Oh right, because the Disney version of Hunchback follows the book! Wait . . .

  • @gothwolf13 You're hillarious y'know that? <-Rhetorical and sarcastic.

No shit, everybody knows that. At least those who have the sense to know that most movies don't follow the books page to page.

  • (WAY down under)

Gothel: So you really kept him in that bell tower for 20 years in time?!

Frollo: That's correct. I killed his gypsy witch mother and I was about to send that monster back to hell....But I was FORCED to raise him as my own son.

Gothel: Ugh...Join the club. I only kept Rapunzel in my tower because of her hair. Keeps me youthful.

Frollo: Well, I only kept Quasimodo because of his appearance. But thanks to that gyspy Esmeralda....

  • @NullChambers Howard Ashman would be so proud.......

  • How can Frollo say such cruel statements. Quasi, beauty is within and is displayed through character, and talent. ( Man i love it when he sings!)

  • i find it weird that there was a guy wandering around for years with Frollo's voice. holy fuck am I glad I never met him on a dark night. the voice by itself would freak me out to no end.

  • @ksmithity actually, Quasimodo's mother was murdered by Frollo and the father dissapeared

  • I love this song....

  • Sassygirl1456 I agree makes me smile, along with 'not above them but part of them' well the 'part of them' I love makes me smile, great song Quasimodo sings it beautifully great voice xD love this film more then words can say watched it many times

  • You're damn right there's no dislikes!

  • "if i was in their skin i would treasure every instant!"

My favorite line in this song

    i luv this song!!!!

  • This is my favorite movie or disney movie. Well besides tarzan

  • I used to have a stuffed Quasimodo. Some little brat stole it when I was four.
