  • LT col. hal moore what can be said hell i was not born when he severed but i what storyies have been told all about a great leader with great men beside him i guess he inspires greatness more then willing to bet he would tell you his men inspired him to be great 1st cav 7th cavalry 1965 you are my heros

  • I would have followed this man to victory...

  • If we would have fought this war like we fought WWII we would have destroyed the Viet Cong..... Politics killed our soldiers..... Thank a vet!

  • A tragedy, but let's not kid ourselves about democracy.

Our OSS fights alongside Ho Chi Minh when Japan's the common enemy. When WWII is over, the French, without a pot to piss in, demand Vietnam back!

So Ho Chi Minh and his Viet Minh evict the French (the Defense Dept. should've taken notes.)

Now the U.S. installs a puppet, Ngo Dinh Diem: a monster whose brother is head of the secret police. When Diem outlives his usefulness, the CIA has him assassinated.

    Diem, Noriega, Saddam Hussein...

  • @NigelTufnelIII I COULD NOT AGREE MORE, beautifully put short and to the point, their bravery ,on both sides is still worthy of comment

  • @NigelTufnelIII So what........they fought for America........so eat it......asshole.

  • @NigelTufnelIII Yes completely agree....AND WOULD DO IT AGAIN.....Because Communism and the Soviet Union was the bigger threat to America. Have a nice day Mr. HINDSIGHT!!!! NOW GO FUCK YOURSELF HIPPIE!

  • With all deference to Col. Moore, the American GI was no match for the Viet Cong/NVA. Like CPT Willard says in Apocalypse Now, there was no R&R for Charlie, there was only victory or death.

  • LTG Moore is a great American hero along with his troops. Having spent most of my years in the Army I would have been proud to have served under his command. No words or medals could ever express my appreciation for these men.

  • I love the way he referred to all American soldiers as "The Fighting Man"... As ONE. That meant a lot to me. As a nation, we are one.

  • For this man to conduct an interview after witnessing atrocities that go beyond my wildest imagination is as Col Hal Moore would say Tremendous. The shear emotions cannot be captured in words and cannot be understood by those who did not bear witness. God bless everyone who fought that day and all other days. And Thank you.

  • No matter how many times I have read the book and seen the film even though I am British and proud of it I would have proudly fought along side Hal Moore .So to the man i send my respect and to his men who sadly never made it home alive I send my blessings .

  • dedicated to all the men and women who are both killers and kind.....can you be both, I say yes....in the spirit of defending this great nation you are a killer but as a human being you are a kind....self discipline and unit discipline, the latter is not much talked about but absolutely neccessary....unit discipline!!!!!

  • The dislikes can kiss my red white and blue America loving ass!

  • 3 "Sappers" didn't like Col Hal Moore.

  • @SuperThunderlips indeed but thats what Hal Moore and his men fought for, democracy thats what makes us strong, haters gonna hate :)

  • @CHANNELOMD I know that. Trust me. Im red white and blue through and through. I was commenting on the 3 dislikes of this video.

  • Outstanding man he is!Words just cant describe it.

  • To those who have only seen the movie or read the book. I have met and talked with Col Moore and CSM Plumly, they are both great leaders and show the type of leadership the US can put forward when needed. His words show dedication to "his" troops and how much he cares. I met him them because my father-in-law was the platoon sergeant of the "Lost Platoon". Thanks for the post!

  • @greyghost1861 great post thank you

  • @CHANNELOMD no prob :)

  • @CHANNELOMD funny, you call me out even though I am a hard-core American. You put this great vid up, but you obviously don't know or knew what a "sapper" was.............for one american to another. Respectfully.....LEARN YOUR HISTORY!

  • @SuperThunderlips no one is calling you out I know what you meant but my point was in a democracy you have to let idiots speak too , calm the fuck down mate

  • panthertwat you are blocked :)

  • watch?v=NdzCtDIiH7g

  • @CHANNELOMD I have made my assumptions based on a patriotic video you have posted on YouTube of an individual that many people have accused of massacring civilians and children in vietnam -

The unfortunate thing for me is that you're wrong with your prejudice and I am right with my investigation.

    chalkus

this guy is accusing Hal of been a war criminal if you disagree please let him know directly , thanks

    youtube.com/user/chalkus

  • one great amercian no wonder his troops fought so hard for him.

  • Hal moore, a fine general!!

  • @reddawg7246 NO prob mate

  • @reddawg7246 IN WHAT WAY?

  • Brilliant Movie and a recommended book absolutely brilliant...well done soldiers!!

  • @lisalee150 Thought "Platoon" was the best Viet Nam movie I'd ever seen. Then a co-worker told me about this one and I thought "Yeah, right." It took another year to finally see it. Wow! What a story and what a way it was told. I cried.

  • Another remarkable thing about this short clip that if you pay close attention to Hal Moore, he does not flinch ONE bit when you here US planes dropping mop up bomb runs in the back ground. It is not even phasing him after three hard days of close combat.

  • You should read his book folks! It is outstanding! The valor and bravery that men like hal has speaks volumes to all of our heroes no matter which war was waged or fought. This type of respect and honor is what generations of american soldiers have displayed in the past, present and will always continue into the future. God bless all who have served a grateful nation!

  • @JOHNNYPISTROCKETS THANKS FOR THAT!

  • @CHANNELOMD Anytime man. Hal is a remarkable man and leader. If you read his book, you will take away the same feeling i got without a doubt!

  • God Bless

  • Great man.

  • That is one hell of a man.

  • @CHANNELOMD you forgot lee marvin he was fighting to

  • @noeszigi was he sorry I didnt know that , the list was an example of those who came to mind , thanks for your imput too

  • Wow! Are those artillery landing in the background while Gen. Moore is giving this interview?...And he doesn't even flinch!!! Oh, may God bless you, general, and to all your men for standing your grounds against the NVAs at great odds!!!

  • One of Americas greatest military leaders...

  • Taking your men into an ambush and then winning the battle by fighting from front, what an excellent and classic example of leadership in modern military.

    Salute to Hal Moore.

  • @hello240157 Amen to that! I love how he gets choked up when he refers to the men he's lost. You can tell he had deep care and compassion for each one of them.

  • It was very nice to find out that Col Moore (after the book came out) at a signing still remembers not only the names but the men that were lost. Signs of a true leader.

  • You are 100% right Col. Hal Moore, the 7th Cav was tremendous in this fight and many others. You are equally TREMENDOUS to be certain!!!! Much RESPECT!!!

  • This was filmed almost immediately after Ia Drang. Moore's remarks are moving, particularly when one recalls that he is speaking after three days and nights of intense combat and NO sleep. I wish Randall Wallace had used this in "We Were Soldiers."

  • " The mission to command men is easy free, is enough to show the way to them of duty" - Marshal " Osorio" of the Brazilian Army, 1808 the 1879.

  • thank you, great video. my wifes father served for hal moore in the ia drang valley,

  • Wayne's employers wouldn't release him from his contract.

  • . In fact, a letter from Republic Studios head Herbert Yates threatened to sue Wayne for breach of contract should he leave the studio for volunteer military service, though it is doubtful he would have carried through with the threat. But Wayne was indeed Republics biggest moneymaker during the war and that studios only A star at the time.

So you are correct but he was a fake actor, america has real heros without looking up to a fake

  • @CHANNELOMD he's not a hero or a "fake hero" he's just an actor with a good reputation. He was a very strong supporter of the military, and for that, he has my respect. hell, his movie, the Sands of Iwo Jima is why I am enlisted in the Corps

  • Hal Moore is outstanding and special man. Thank you Mr. Moore for your service. We owe you and all other service persons for our freedom

  • A special and outstanding man. Thank you Mr. Moore for your service to our country!!! We owe our freedom to people such as you

  • That is a REAL hero. We need more men like this in our military. Thank you General!

  • Fucking Ledgend!!!!!!

  • Damn, Hal Moore been in almost every American wars from the 20th - 21st Centuries.

    WWII - Iraqi Freedom

  • Hal Moore, truly a great leader and a great American!

  • Unless you've been there, there can be no describing the love and respect between men in combat. You spend more time with them than your own family, you see them at their worst and they yours, Thank Lt. Gen. Moore and Sgt. Maj. Plumley and all the men of the 7th Cav Regiment.

  • it is captivating to me that someone after 3 hellish days of warfare can articulate perfectly the sentiments he feels for his soldiers!

what a man, just a phenomenal human being!

  • I was thinking the exact same thing.

  • we need more men like this today

  • There out there everyday.

  • respect for this man and his soldiers. wonder what politics would look like the day politicians show the same integrity and inner endless power. probably less wars around the world.

  • It is hard to imagine the Hell he had just been through for 3 days and night, and to give an interview without losing his composure.

  • he almost breaks down. i can't blame him

  • Treasure this moment America...........I am so proud of Hal Moore.

For the 233rd time I am proud of my country................

  • That is a man.

  • the lz was a real trap and hal moore, knew it, but your leadership, overcame everything. He is a real american hero. Congrats General

  • Lt. General

  • Correction, when you are in uniform you address all generals as general. Whether he is Brigadier General, Major General, Lieutenant General or General, he is a general. Same goes for Lieutenants whether he is a silver or gold bar.(1st or 2nd) He is still Liutenant. Same as Colonels. You have Lt. Col. and then full birds. Noitice how in the film We Were Soldiers, Hal's men addressed him as Colonel.

  • Oh, because in his book(s) they put Lt. Col. before his name. There are a lot I mean a lot of ranks in the military. Did you serve in Vietnam?

  • In his books he is mentioned as an LTC because that was his rank at the time of the events the books describe.

  • interesting

  • i love hal moore no homo

  • most of all i don't know most of you assholes are talking about. bring back the draft- fuck yeah. but not showing the respect for the men that fought the vietnam war then fuck you. My father, my 2 uncles, my brother in law uncle. my friend terry were all drifted or enlisted in the war all my relatives and friends were drafted. so if you saying that Vietnam vets don't get anything then fuck you. they put there lives on the line my father seen his friend get blowing up by L.mine my pops was 20ft,

  • word, man

  • i dnt under stand u u daft cunt hall is the best he fought for yor arse and you slaggin im off

  • batman

    i dont see ur point

a colonel doesnt have more experiance then a general

useal u gain experience and climb up the rank ladder so the higher the rank the more experiance

and yes hal moore retuired as a lt general respect for him and every other soldier that fought in the battle of lz xray

  • My point is, Hal Moore and the COs that actually experienced, first hand, the type of conditions they expected their men to endure (typically be 2nd Lts-Cols). anything above col. would generally not see much, if any, combat experience (in the situations they are commanding their subordinates to endure, of course). Due to the constant evolution of war generals often dont understand the conditions in which their men are fighting, colonels do, i.e. westmoreland's exp (as a col) in WWII NOT vietnam

  • dick head

  • diviy

  • batman311 - Hal Moore retired as as Lieutenant General

  • colonels have much more intense battlefield experience than generals do. I do not know for certain if he achieved a rank higher than colonel (he must have), but during the Ia Drang campaign Hal Moore was a colonel. Great comment though.

  • At the Ia Drang, Hal Moore was a Lieutenant Colonel.

  • show me a colonel today with more "intense battlefield experience" than General Hal Moore. the circumstances of a servicemans life may be such that he gets promoted without much experience. If he is a colonel in peacetime he wont get much. if he is a colonel in the 60's?Hal Moore

  • There a quite a few colonels on AD who served in Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm, possibly Somalia plus multiple deployments in OIF and the A-stan. Moore served one year in Korea and AFAIK one tour in Vietnam. Your average 0-6 in the infantry these days probably has more time in combat than Moore does, no disrespect to him of course. Intensity of combat is another thing, however.

  • Be that as it may, the grenada, Panama and DS conflicts have absolutely no business being compared to WW2, Korea and VIetnam.

The current Iraq insurgency would be comperable, but the rest were technological conflicts where there was very little actual direct combat.

Please dont do either Gen. Moore or the current US military officers the disservice of under rating Moore or over-rating the overwhelmingly one-sided fights since Vietnam.

  • served alongside us marines in lebanon. They are truely great soldiers.Their only weakness is their honesty makes them a big target

  • I read the book...Wow Hal Moore is a hero...

  • It's because of men like Hal Moore we have the right to be free.

  • ...the kind of man who earns to fight in a fair war for a right cause, sorry for those guys politic is what it is! A man who declares a war should always go to the frontline with the men he send to a battlefield. Crazyhorse the brave is his brother not Custer...

  • Years of clear evidence of the (predicted) brutality of Communist NVN vs. thousands of non-Communist SVNs after conquering the South in 75, & we still have smug, self-righteous fools spouting the vicious leftist lie.

America fought a just war in SVN against the invading NVN. SVN had faults, but it was far more just and free than the dictatorship in NVN or Red regime now. America was hurt & confused when politicos chose not to win. The fighting men knew it & many lost heart. Thanks, Hal Moore.

  • Anyway,I would like to have a man like Hal Moore by my side now, to help me in my fight against a international criminal organisation practicing the modern form of slavery. The constitution and laws of democratic countries belongs to us,citizens, not to politicians.

  • True Hero!!!

  • Thx for this video!!!

  • hal moore a real american hero.......
