TARO is a fine musician, & a better player than me,.....but this doesn't swing - and all Jazz must swing. It's an exercise in technique to me. Metheny's original version has warmth & a gentle swing which makes it more musical.

@wartree This is a great guitar, it's just tuned REALLY low. Most baritone guitars set their lowest strings at either an A (so ADGCEA) or a B (BEADF#B), his is set at a G (GCFBbDG), so this is just so bass-y that it muddies the sound. Also, Pat Metheny plays it in Nashville tuning (the two middle strings tuned up an octave) which Taro chose not to do. The higher octaves add some clarity also.

Still, he's playing the song really well.

Very nice , you also can replace 3rd and 4th strings with the ones tuned one octave higher, - this will give you the sond for this song
