  • Out sing and perform Sinatra any day....even his last days.

  • Beautiful, natural voice...awesome presence on stage...one of the very best singers from that era...what a treat to be able to come to You tube and watch these clips. Thanks for sharing with us.

  • What age did Bobby die

  • @ClickItAlready He Was 37 years old!!!!

  • Dick Clark believed his best friend Bobby should have survived the surgery that killed him but would not reveal any specifics because he was afraid of a lawsuit.

  • @debilt8 The way I heard it was, Bobby needed to take a course of antibiotics prior to any surgery/procedure - I heard it was dental surgery. He did not take the needed course of antibiotics Bobby was divorced from Sandra Dee, and living with another woman -

I mourned him then, so young. Such an incredible performer!

  • to bad the great bobby Darin had to sing this junk for the average fan that doesn't know their ass from their elbow.

of course real music fans like myself never listen to this crap and enjoy bobby singing the classics as well as the great contemporary songs.

  • @JadeTomZ You Get Tired Of The Classics Too Bro ! He Could Do It All !

  • @JadeTomZ

hey this defines bobby darin as much as his tim hardin and lounge stuff does. The fact is the guy could sing.

  • 11 people short on taste and recognizing a real talent!

  • This wasn't his final performance. He did a number of dates in Las Vegas after this show.

  • Could someone post OTHER HALF OF ME FROM SWEET NOVEMBER MOVIE , THANKS MIKE

  • Could he dance!

  • I have the same heart defect that Bobby had but am still going. I wish he would have survived that surgery. Such a great loss of a consumate performer and person.

  • I always though Bobby was amazing on a par with just about any of the singers of his day.Sinatra included. To die so young was a real loss to us. I am so glad that Kevin Spacey saw Bobby's awesome talent and brought him back to life. Kevin is such an awesome talent in his own right. I'm sure Bobby would have been delighted. r.i.p beyond the stars Bobby <3

  • Never know this was his last ever RIP Bobby from all in Edinburgh Scotland xx

  • why are people so often comparing him to sinatra. Of course sinatra has his legions of fans. but sinatra always sang other people's songs...! Bobby wrote his own songs and made them famous for people like sinatra to use and make their millions. Bobby is Bobby ...not like sinatra at all....

  • @bossyboots55

Well said, Bobby was his own unique person, multi-talented and a wonderful performer, we lost his genious way too soon! RIP Bobby, you did well!

  • @Lloydhl

thanks....Bobby was in a league of his own. ! no comparison.

  • He was CLASS - very under-rated too,

great singer, great songwriter, great performer.

  • Lost this guy WAY too soon

  • TALENT...something not so plentiful TODAY!

  • @nicsword1 - Unfortunately we'd never know. The music industry is all but hermetically SEALED against new talent.

  • What show is this from? Great performance. Did'nt look sick............How soon after did he pass. Thanks for sharing Bobby Fan..............

  • my favorite was ( if i were a carpenter), he could build me a tree house anytime!!!!!!!!!!!!!whoooo whoooo.

  • A hero today even more than then, for his courage and messages through song.

  • Wonderful entertainer, I was sixteen when I heard Dream Lover for the first time, and I STILL love that song. RIP to a truly GREAT ARTIST.

  • Quem é este cara?!

  • Last performance my ass.....get your facts straight!!!

  • @nourbutwatmi Final FILMED performance, Professor?

  • @nourbutwatmi Why be a butt if you have more info post that.

  • Thanks for the video and thank you Bobby for what you have left us with, all your love... Rest In Peace

  • One of the greatest artists of the 20th century, really underappreciated. I'm glad I finally discovered him though, and I hope everybody else does too.

  • Check out youtube/lulu.mov

  • IS THERE ANYTHING BOBBY COULDN'T DO !! XX wish he made more movies and stared as the main character xx i LOVE Bobby Darin xx

  • @rent418 i heard he was one those people who was good at anything did. Business, stocks, guitar , piano, sports... in other words , once he committed to something , he a effort to perfect it......

  • An excellent artist, such a shame... he does the best ever version of 'Lazy River'

  • Is that Barry Manilow on piano at the end?

  • @lakedrmr No, it's Bob Rozario, the bandleader for the Bobby Darin Show. He went on to work with Tony Orlando on his show after Bobby's death.

  • @lakedrmr Yes, that was Barry Manilow, he played with Bobby Darin's group before it hooked up with bette Midler.

  • He was such a great example. He knew about his defective heart since he was a kid and never used it as an excuse, never used it for sympathy. He obviously lived his life to the fullest; and when it ended I'm pretty sure the only regret he had was that he didn't get more time. Great talent and a great soul.

  • Elvis was a huge admirer of BD...

He used to sneak into his vegas shows..

A rare talent. and a true inspiration..

    Thanks Bobby Darin

  • This time he remind me Jerry Lee Lewis style

  • If anybody wants to find out more about Bobby Darin, watch "Beyond the Sea" with Kevin Spacey as Bobby. It is absolutely fabulous! Kevin wrote, directed and starred in the movie. It is filmed mostly in Berlin. Kevin sings and dances with his own voice and his own dancing. A must for any Bobby Darin or Kevin Spacey fan.

  • I watched Beyond the Sea with Spacey last night... for the 3rd time. I realize that Darin was an outstanding entertainer who deserves wider fame and recognition than he has received. Wow, what a talent..

  • Besides being a great singer I loved the way he danced!

  • @ moiraregis....you're a sick human being. Bobby Darin was an all-around entertainer who died way before his time, but used what time he had to accomplish so much. He is still dearly missed by his legion of fans. Keep your negative (and ridiculous) comments to yourself; they don't belong on this comments page. 'Nough said.

  • @mhtrc55 You should really check the previous comments before jumping to an assumption. I would bet you are between 45-60. Please be a grammatical role model and not apostrophe the E in enough... It's actually one less keystroke if you think about it... actually 2 since you decided to capitalize the N.

  • Someone asked how he died. I think it was heart related. He looked great when

we hung out with him in Porto Rico. A really nice guy.

  • fiilmedioten..........Your comments about Mr Bobby Darin are right on! Bobby Darin was one of the tops and, for whatever reason, did not receive the merit.....the honor..........the credit to the level that he deserved. He was by far one of the very few true Entertainers of his time. They don't make them like that anymore. He parallels Frank Sinatra who was the very best and will be the very best.

  • what a talented dude... i've been a fan since the 1st time i was aware of him in the late 50s'

  • met bobby darin in puerto rico in 1970 on the beaches of san juan. he was playing at a night club and hung out with us for the a.m. (we were college kids) great guy and

totally, and i mean totally a regular guy. incredible experience since we grew up listening to his excellent songs.

  • @leftyspade lucky one :)

this great musican died 21 years before i was born -.-

  • @leftyspade well done mate for meeting this bloke, you bloody lucky lucky aye, could you tell me how he died mate.

  • He was a great performer and singer.

    R.I.P

  • Bobby Darin, the ultimate performer, singer, writer, all around talented sexy man who died much too young, but forever in our hearts....

  • R n' R sure has gone downhill.

  • He didnt look like any one who was going to die soon , cried my eyes when he did .R.i

  • You can't get any better than this. Just think how sick he was and still could put on this kind of show. RIP Bobby!

  • Browsing YouTube, discovered this guy for the first time. He's awesome.

  • @hellonathan

You are so lucky to have found this.

Bobby Darin, and so many more of his entertainment generation, are that which so many of today have built their careers on.

    Seek, and you will find.

    Yes, he IS still awesome!.

  • If not stated previously, April 27 was the air date, this show having been recorded on March 11, 1973

  • RIP Bobby Darin, someone truly awesome...

  • This is an amazing final performance!

  • The amazing Bobby. Took me years (long after his passing) to realize he was one of the best ever. Chills every time, from "Dream Lover" to "If I Were a Carpenter". Beautiful.

  • not forgetting his amazing Dream Lover and i love his version of Clementine

  • I knew him personally- cameraman on his failed movie "The Vendors"

Cantankerous yes- great talent- yes- gay -no way

Don't mix him up with Kevin Spacey who did a nice job in the tribute movie

  • When you watched Bobby perform you knew you were seeing greatness. He was a monster talent.

  • HE WAS MARRIED TO SANDRA DEE!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • 6 people dont know what good music is

  • Do you have a source for any of this "born again bisexual" stuff, or are we simply supposed to accept it because you say so? That's what I love about sites like YouTube. Gives people the chance to write comments without backing them up, in hopes that, if repeated enough, someone will think they are true.

  • The world lost a great man and singer when Bobby passed. God rest his soul. I always loved his music...all the way back to Splish Splash. :(

  • he looks like the lead singer from journey

  • Does anyone know the pianist who stepped in at the last to play while Bobby was in front waving to the audience? He looked very familiar.

  • @theuofc He looks like Andre Previn to me......

  • Bobby died of the congenital heart defect that could be cured today. God bless his Joyful Heart. A Rock n Roll Legend.

  • This is why hes a legend in my book. Forget the rest of these flavor of the months. Darin is the Epitome of what a pure talent should be.

  • They could have saved Bobby's life Today with a bypass.

    What a shame honestly.

    So much SOUL.

  • @stan2211stan The brightest stars burn half as long. :(

  • I have a minor heart problem, when I talk a few minutes , I get sort of chest pain ...then Bobby with his chronic heart problem, must have been sacrificing himself for his fans, knowing this kind of passionate singing puts a big pressure on his heart...then we can call him sort of martyr of his job

  • He looks older then 37 here, wow.

  • People forget his song writing talent. He co-wrote this, along with many of his hits. He also wrote and produced Dream Lover. What a guy.

  • We love you Bobby, there will never be another like you!!!! You will always live in my heart!

  • My generation was very lucky to have known him, from Splish Splash all the way to the sad end. He really was a genius.

  • @DylanGirl1963 Yep! Genius to the end!

  • @DylanGirl1963 Mr. Darin will be missed, My favorite song is "Beyond The Sea". At least we still have Tony Bennett.

  • How did he die !? OH SHT !! TT^TT HE WAS SO GREAT TOO !!

  • on the list of singers that i wish i could've seen perform. unfortunately he died 9 days after i was born so i'll never get the chance. rip bobby

  • Kinda makes Jerry Lee Lewis a moot point.

  • Awesome guy! It's fun just watching him. I still sing and dance to his songs!

  • An all-round entertainer who during his lifetime, and after his death, has received about one tenth of the recognition he deserves. An Academy Award nominated actor, a comedian, a crooner, a pop singer, a first-rate song writer, and an all-round good guy. RIP Bobby, you went much too soon...

  • @filmidioten He was great... he was cocky and played it like he was King... nobody like him ... he died with the same heart ailment I have!

  • @filmidioten

I think the reason he wasnt given his dues was because he was very outspoken. In his own beliefs and politics.

He once told Sinatra that would become greater than him. and he did !

  • @bossyboots55 I love Darin and I'm a greater fan of him than Sinatra, but to be fair, his fame never got close to Sinatra's. That still doesn't diminish Darin's amazing multitalent. Darin was quite political from the late 60's and onwards, yes he went a bit "hippie", but his outlook on the world seemed to be some of the most positive I've ever seen from a person in that business, he was a truly great and benign human being, and in that respect he was less controversial than tough guy Sinatra.

  • @filmidioten

    Don't forget extremely talented multi-instrumentalist.

  • WHAT AN ALL ROUND ENTERTAINER !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAHHHHHHHHHHHH i'm dancin already ........

  • Taken from us far too young. But at least we all remember him in his prime. Is that better than artists who lived longer but were but shadows of their former selves come the end?

  • R.I.P. BOBBY WE THANK YOU FOR PERFORMING AND ENTERTAING US FOR YOUR SHORT LIFE HERE ON EARTH

  • Unbelievable that anyone could pack soooo much into such a short lifetime! A tremendous performer. Career & dream couple marriage until life to it's toll? So sad we lose such greats before their time.

  • Elvis Presley. Ray Charles. Frank Sinatra. Mr. Darin ABSOLUTELY must be mentioned in the same breath as these other entertainers. He was that good.

  • sammy davis jr lost an eye and kept going, bobby was born with a fucked up heart and suffered through some turmoils in his life and he kept going. true masters at entertainment endure and persevere...i miss guys like that.

  • Bobby Darin died young through no fault of his own. He grew up poor and contracted rheumatic fever as a child and it damaged his heart. He only lived 37 years but left a legacy of great performances .The medicine of the day could not save him which is a real shame.

  • @Johnel83 That's right Johne. These days nobody contracts that illness anymore. And a damaged heart valve is replaceable in a routine procedure. George Gershwin& Mario Lanza were two more musical genius's who died at the same age as Darin, way too young. May they all RIP.

  • There´s more Rock ´n´ Roll in this one song than all of The Beatles put together

  • @thesignaturesnice He's an ORIGINAL ROCK & ROLLER..The Beatles carried the banner to England when US went ROCK. PEACE.

  • @thesignaturesnice I'm 45 years old and I loved Bobby Darin. It was a damn shame he died at such a young age but Pal you must be on serious meds to say that comment. John Lennon was born poor without parents and he was murdered by the fucking CIA at 41 years old. You need your head examined to say that comment. Bobby probably never even wrote his own songs. I'm sure The Beatles loved Bobby. And I'm sure Bobby loved The Beatles. But no band will ever even come close to The Fab 4 Period. The End

  • @earlsworld70117 Actually Bobby wrote a ton of songs - check it out. And The Beatles were huge fans of Bobby Darin. There really seems to be nothing that Bobby couldn't do, except live longer :(

  • @mariusproductions Yes, he was an accomplished writer. I just figured he didn't because most of the entertainers of that day didn't. People really shouldn't compare apples to oranges! It really gets old especially on You Tube. I'm 45 & I appreciate nearly all genre /styles of music. Open up your mind! "The chain around the neck of humanity is our tendency to pass judgment on others" Darin,Elvis,Sinatra,Beatles, music is a very special part of our lives. Broaden your horizons. PEACE !!!

  • @earlsworld70117 John had a very loving mother, her name was Julia. John named his son Julian after her and also wrote a song about her called "julia" which can be found on the White album. She was killed by drunk driver when he was just a teen. So do sum research before you comment, even though i agree with your rebuttal and remark about the Beatles having no equal.

  • @LACraig621 Dude, u have the nerve to accuse me of not doing my research when it's u who have it all wrong! John was raised by his aunt even before his mother died. She was a heavy drinker & gave him up at a very young age. It's true she was trying to get back into his life but it was too late she died. JL's song MOTHER. Mother, you had me but I never had you,

I wanted you but you didn't want me,

So I got to tell you,

    Goodbye, goodbye.

( Now, I would appreciate an apology if u are man enough?)

  • @earlsworld70117 Aologize for what, anybody can google doesn`t make you right.

  • @earlsworld70117 Of course Bobby Darin wrote his own songs Check your facts dude! He wrote Splish Splash and was probably the most musically talented entertainer out there! I doubt Sinatra or even Sammy could play all the instruments he could.

  • There´s more Rock ´n´Roll in this one song than all of The Beatles put together

  • He's so young and so alive in this performance. I can't believe it. He died way too young... but what a full life he lived! :)

  • If Spacey is bi/gay, if Darin was bi/gay....so what? Sounds like some folks are overcompensating.

  • Love this guy what talent....damn fever as a kid killed his heart

  • what a talent............what a loss

  • I once heard Connie Francis say that Bobby would have been the next Sinatra if he had lived a full life. I believe it. His voice was that good. What a shame.

  • Robert Cassotto

  • @harfuch1 Kevin Spaceys ex born again bisexual boyfriend.

  • @yourdickis2limp ? I didn't understand will you explaing it to me again? please

  • @harfuch1 Kevin Spacey is Gay for alot of men dead or alive such as yourself,Bobby Darin and Little Richard.

  • @yourdickis2limp they were both gay ?

  • @Bag0fRats Bobby Darin was gay,Kevin Spacey is gay,and 99% of Bobby Darins fans and followers are Queer as Folk as well.

  • @yourdickis2limp You sound like you're a disgruntled closet burglar pal. You are a jackass and my german shepherd is smarter than you, pea-brain. Nice head.

  • @cockyhemi what a fucking wanker you are,grow up.

  • @1crankyvet I don't want to grow up, I'm a Toys 'R Us kid. Seriously though, wanker? You damn limeys and your lingo! Bloody hilarious!! Keep up the good work. I am serious, and stop calling me Shirley.

  • @cockyhemi Are you angry at me because Bobby Darin and Kevin Spacey are born again bisexuals?

  • @yourdickis2limp Go home and get your meds...... Does it make you happy that someone is speaking to you? Are your teddy bears all aligned and the voices in your head all ready to bombard you with shit? Ahhh,Good,Night,Night Then.....God Bless

  • @BlankfrackCripledFUK And you don't forget

  • @BlankfrackCripledFUK

you speak with such authority i must assume you were in on many of these bisexual expeditions with bobby darin; aren't you the lucky one! the only thing that makes me doubt the veracity of your claim is that bobby darin would never have wasted his time with a homophobic bigot like you; and i don't care WHAT bobby darin's sexual proclivities were; they are utterly irrelevant to his genius and his good heart. and i still miss him every bit as much. how many will miss YOU?

  • @moiraregis Some people can't separate him from Kevin Spacey! Spacey is gay, Darin wasn't

  • @BlankfrackCripledFUK

paul lynde, rock hudson, chas. nelson reilly, deluise, reed hit only ONE switch; the rest i don't know about; how does liking annilingus, group masturbation, self fellatio, S&M make someone a "sexual monster"? [the fellatio makes me think of him as a sexual contortionist; talk about a supple spine!] sexual peccadilloes are interesting, but if they don't involve children or other unwilling participants, i see no reason to stand in judgment on their aficionados.

  • @moiraregis Right mate, brilliant, cheers!

  • Oh, what a loss. So young.

  • Bobby Darin is the shit, most of todays performers wish they could be as cool as this man RIP Mr. Darin

  • Its so sad to watch this, watching him give this performance his all, and knowing that his damaged heart must have been suffering the whole time during it. What an amazing performer.

  • It doesn't get any better than this . If there was one person I could have chosen to hear live in concert, it would have been Bobby Darin... hands down ! He was the Best !!!!

  • Absolute Star

  • thats how I got my name. Darin. Dad wanted to name me after Kirk Douglas but mom said no. They came up with Darin Curtis as some compromise but I think mom won cause despite the teasing I got because of the 'Bewitched' show I love my name Darin. Thaanks Mom!!

  • I never knew that Bobby played the piano and very well , too.

  • I had cancer three years ago and along with my awesome wife, this video saved me from despair and depression. Bobby, I love you man and I never even met you. I can't say thank you enough.

  • One of the best singers ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He could do it all better than anyone. He and Sammy were my heroes when I was growing up. No one has ever come close since.

  • He gave his all to his fans. Miss you Bobby

  • Bobby passed on 20/december/1973, 8 months after this show....

  • Bobby darin personified the word cool!!! What an entertainer!!

  • HE KNEW HE WAS DOOMED, YET HE GAVE IT HIS ALL,RIGHT UP TO HIS FAILED SURGERY. A VERIFIED PAIN IN THE NECK TO WORK WITH, HE NEVER FULLY UNDERSTOOD THAT HE WAS THE COMPETITION, AND HIS OWN WORST ENEMY.

  • He was truly one of our greatest entertainers. He music is timeless and a style that hasn't been repeated.

  • I'm sure I saw this on tv. I was a big fan at 6 years old.

  • @budrakerz 1973 :(. He's still my hero.

  • what year did he die?

  • @budrakerz 1973, same year as Salvador Allende, of Chile, & 10 yrs. after JFK, 7 yrs. after RFK, & MLKing,. Seven yrs. before John Lennon, 24 yrs. before John Denver, 3 yrs. before Phil Ochs. Sorry for those I did not mention, but, you get my drift.

Would LOVE, for some one to ad to those...

  • @hanksnow2 ikts just dates of deaths, there is no coincidence!

  • @hanksnow2 well said pal, dont forget victor jara and joe strummer.

  • i think its fitting that bobby ended his career with the song that started it all, its a great shame that he died so young i just wish i was alive when he was so i could have seen him perform!

  • Comment removed

  • He died way too young, you can see the stress he's putting on his body in this performance, but what a hell of a way to go! Keep on swingin', Bobby! We'll do our best without you!

  • We rock out here in Queens when Bobbie starts-a-blastin' !!!!!!!!

  • wasn't he just brilliant died to young what a entertainer he was one of the greats

  • God bless Darin!!

Just FANTASTIC...not a SINATRA wannabe..an ingenious artist he was and had become a SUPERSTAR!!!

    I love both!!!!

  • @gfks11 brilent a great performance and song

  • he was funny aswell, thx for uploading this
