There's nothing like working on an actual real world application to out your skills to practice. These small automated cells are a great place to start.

cool. i use RS LOGIX and its good. what do you think is better? i havent used CSCAPE. i know rockwell automation products are well used in the industry. what about CSCAPE?
Yes, we use RSLOGIX also because it is used in industry. Cscape is free software and it is easy for our students to download onto their laptops. The PLC we are using here is the Horner XLt. It's not AB but the students enjoy programing them, especially with the different screens they can create.
dont tell me that this is your class project or something like that. this is a simple program. try making the game play simon say with you and i might be impressed

We do use RS LOGIX but for this PLC we are using CSCAPE.
