@jesen141 Rapping and emcee-ing are essentially the same thing. Emcee-ing is one of the 4 elements of hip hop. Unfortunately, people nowadays don't emcee. They just sorta monologue about bullshit with a pop beat in the back and then pass it off as hip hop music.
All ya bitches out there sayin hip hop havent died we ain't talkin bout wen those REAL good hip hoppers was bac in the day like 2poc n biggie now a days it's like okay but u come from back in the day,u missed everything

hip hop ain't dead, its just hard to find and it pisses me off when someone says these new cats rapping ain't got talent because they do, you think someone can just wake up one day and produce beats like they do or write lyrics like that (even if they are shallow), if you don't like the god damned music don't listen to it, just don't call them un-talented, if you want real hip hop, make it, show us how you can fix what your moaning about

I hate it when ppl say hip hop is dead. It is not dead it is overshadowed by rap. All the bullshit artists like soulja boy and waka flocka are not hip hop, they are main stream rap. All the hip hop artists are still making music they just aren't played on the radio and the record labels shun them bc they aren't doing what they tell them. Hip Hop isn't dead, people just don't know how to find it.
@flash5567 justin bieber did not "kill" hip-hop, he sings pop. && yur basically saying tht hip hop is an adult profession, that kids cannot be talented enough to make music. times are changing. Hip Hop died when they started selling sex;
agreed hip hip is dead all this rap bull is a mess i cant turn on the radio w/o some1 talking bout guns or money whatever happened 2 the stories in hip hop whatever happened 2 the meaning whatever happened 2 respect all music does is degrade women n say the streets is the best thing that ever happened 2 these million dollar dumb asses i fail 2 understand y rap icons claim that gettin shot gave them a name n having lots of women iz a good thang in whos hell does this make sence
Everyone! Hip Pop did not die becuase of one person like justin beiber or soulja boy. there were steps how to Hip pop ws killed including the death of MJ, James Brown and things like auto-tune and putting singing and rapping in the same song and letting teens become pop artist also artist not writing there own songs making hip pop sound like crap now.
@flash5567 james brown n mj hv nothing to do with hip hop when u think hip hop think biggy smallz..tupac... naz...dr dre ( when he was makin real music) ....napolean..jay z is the only 1 tryna keep it real n he's slackin too
'This is soo True Big ups to whoever put this piece together...Hip Hop is Dead..."The New Hip-Hop" or as I call it "Rap Crap" being fueled by Young Money is pointless. Its just a couple of punch lines and disses. I never knew when this became a type of art? SMH anyway Hip Hop is dead
hip hop hasnt died. just beacuse people who represent the art of hip hop stopped respecting the art and started making music doesnt mean it died. hip hop could never die. the art will live on forever. however, hip hop is being hospitalized and its our generation that put it there.
i agree, cos now in days, all they sing about is sex, and they wonder why theres so many young kids at 14 are having sex. it makes everything they rap sound like a good thing and no consequences. i miss the old rap -.-
Bros mic was smokin, great lyricism yall, the rewind hit the home run then the FF won the world series!!! This poem is true, yes hip hop is personal to me cuz it was with me through thick an thin through my life an now its gone.....
I agree that hip hop has died. I remember back in the day wen hip hop used to have a meaning to it. It used to positive. I remember wen people used to have to work to get to the top. Now all people are talking about now is "let me see dat ass drop" or "I got more money than 50 Cent" Besides the meaningful rap, it all seems pointless to me
@naturallydommi010 people are rapping about whatever sells. this is what we buy so this is what they deliver. when this geneneration learns to fall back in love with the art behind the music will we ever truelly get real genuine hip hop back. however, i dont see that happening soon because at the end of the day. u (speaking to the masses not jus u in particular) still gonna buy whoevers album is number 1 on 106 & park.
Hip Hop didnt die people......your just looking in the wrong places, if your looking at mainstream, then yea it did, minus a few rappers tryin to hold it down, problem is nobody buys there albums....check the underground scene....this poem in itself is a testiment that it didnt die....do you think these are the only two people out here writing about this??? The industry killed mainstream hiphop....
@naturallydommi010 i dont want to get in an rap arguement but if you go back maybe there wasnt as much sex but they definately bragged alot and it wasnt all dat deep
@naturallydommi010 Well, I see your point, but I don't agree. There is still a huuuge population of rappers who speak meaningful, well versed things. You just have to look for them. The problem is that Mainstream hip-hop is fucking retarded. Just look beneath the surface.
hiphop aint dead...but this was well said..cuz it seems like most emcees and rap cats, are singing for big stacks, then the real truth of the rap...in order to be real hiphop u dont gotta be gutter, but if i'm in need of the truth, then the ground i go under.....it's alive yal need to find it, or create great music, not this ringtone mainstream, wanna label it hiphopraprandb....fuck it cuz it's just not MUSIC now, TAKE IT UNDERGROUND
hip hop died in late 2006 when stupid rappers like t pain and lil wayne! Why dont rappers any more use their own voice!! Kanye does most of the time! He still cool and the last of old classic rappers like Eminem, 50 cent, and Ludacis! I'll give anything to bring real genius rap!
back when all hip-hop artists had a message to say and not just the means to say it.
modern rap has new technology - autotone, better synthesizers, sound-insulated studios, etc.
But when you take the frills out, and all that remains is a voice, a microphone, and a stage, it's amazing how much more memorable this performance is in comparison to mainstream.
While hip hop is not really dead, I think the hip-hop we here on the radio is just not as good as the hip-hop we used to hear a while ago.
These kids in the video express what hip-hop was meant to be- a work of art. Not glamorized by money or record lables- but by what actually goes on in peoples lives.
Amazing. Does anyone know what Brian was saying just before and after his rewind? I can't hear that part clearly, but the few words I did catch were amazing.
This is beyond incredible. Quickly added to my favorites. Business thoughts already flowing through my mind... I will contact you directly. One, Makadoutious
i have to warn you i'm new to hip hop and rap and such(not new to slam however) one this poem is awsome just in the way they wrote it making it sounds like a cd or somethin.
but i do think that old school hip hop should be revived.
I also the maistreamers(lil wayne, chris Brown, and most of the others.) have a talent maybe it shouldn't be called hip hop but they have something...
loved this poem very true and well performed. And 4 all ya'll that wanna argue about lil wayne (which isn't even a good rapper 2 even compare 2 the REAL emcees) being the best and the sickest, something must be seriously wrong with you. He's a good entertainer, not a rapper bc he talks abt the same shit and he's gonna die soon n e damn ways!! Educate yourselves ppl and stop lookin' up 2 rappers who don't even talk abt things that matter.
real talk...thank u for pointin dat out, nuthin relevant iz eva bein talked about ne more...hip hop has become a one trick pony n most of da rappers involved r in it for da money
Lil Wayne ain't in no spot to say that he is the best rapper alive, because no that's not true. He a good rapper for though. People are forgettin about the old schoolers. That brang Hip-Hop, Rap -n- R&B alive. If there was no old school, Weezy would'nt be in the game today. People forgettin about Furious Five, RUN DMC, MC-Lyte, MC Hammer, Missy Elliot, Erykah Badu, Nas, Biggie, Tupac, Grand Master Flash, Too Short, Jam Master J, Jay Z, Kanye West -n- Many More. Hip-Hop is dyin' Or is she dead?..
THe sad thing is while there are certain artists whose music I don't really like and who I don't listen to, most people don't care. There are artists that I'm sure fit into the same categories that I listen to some of their songs because I like the beat or I like dancing to them. I don't really like the songs where the lyrics get to the point of being offensive or sexist. I think its sad where Hip hop is right now and I wish the artists right now who have alot of influence would take a stand.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
seriously all the people speaking negatively about Wayne are crazy, mainly because nearly all of their opposition is some nostalgic comparison. hip hop has moved on from the "old school" and the "new school" is trying to get off the ground, but it never will if people keep trying to say how it isn't better or as good as old shit. i understand you have to respect the pioneers but damn.. embrace new styles. there will never be a new old school only a new new school. get used to it.
listen the music is fine and i mean from a club perspective but the artist are garbage. no talent. no lyrics or anything and if thats what the kids want hey thats all fine and dandy but just because he's dressing the part doesn't make it hip hop.
This is what Hip Hop should be from the core, Maintream(Soulja Boy, Chris Brown, 50 Cent, etc.)infected Hip-Hop. This piece is DOPE AND CLEVER, and actually had hard work put into it. This is Hip-Hop, not rap. That's the difference.
and its spreading. for one person who takes the mic has all the power and it manipulates the listener, be like the rapper, dress like the rapper, copy the rapper. rappers today like Flo Rida, Young Berg, Young Joc, Lil' Wayne, Rich Boi, do i have to go on?
Can you look at those names and picture 10 years later people namin any one of them a Hip-Hop legend? I ain't think so.
Yooo! That's wassup! Very original.

i have to warn you i'm new to hip hop and rap and such(not new to slam however) one this poem is awsome just in the way they wrote it making it sounds like a cd or somethin.
but i do think that old school hip hop should be revived.
I also the maistreamers(lil wayne, chris Brown, and most of the others.) have a talent maybe it shouldn't be called hip hop but they have something...
personal opinion.

MissPoetessB 3 years ago 4
loved this poem very true and well performed.
DiamondsAreLove 3 years ago 4
lol..why is he gonna die soon?
blahblah0614 3 years ago
real talk...thank u for pointin dat out, nuthin relevant iz eva bein talked about ne more...hip hop has become a one trick pony n most of da rappers involved r in it for da money

For the most part, I agree with y'all. But come on, hatin on Lil' Wayne is straight silly. That nigga's wordplay is off the hook.

seriously all the people speaking negatively about Wayne are crazy, mainly because nearly all of their opposition is some nostalgic comparison. hip hop has moved on from the "old school" and the "new school" is trying to get off the ground, but it never will if people keep trying to say how it isn't better or as good as old shit. i understand you have to respect the pioneers but damn.. embrace new styles. there will never be a new old school only a new new school. get used to it.
samonthecreek 3 years ago
listen the music is fine and i mean from a club perspective but the artist are garbage. no talent. no lyrics or anything and if thats what the kids want hey thats all fine and dandy but just because he's dressing the part doesn't make it hip hop.
truthspeaks01 3 years ago 25
Yo they performed this on def poetry and KILLED it.
brownsuga0323 3 years ago 6
This is what Hip Hop should be from the core, Maintream(Soulja Boy, Chris Brown, 50 Cent, etc.)infected Hip-Hop. This piece is DOPE AND CLEVER, and actually had hard work put into it. This is Hip-Hop, not rap. That's the difference.

Hip-Hop ain't dead...
It's infected with a disease..
and its spreading. for one person who takes the mic has all the power and it manipulates the listener, be like the rapper, dress like the rapper, copy the rapper. rappers today like Flo Rida, Young Berg, Young Joc, Lil' Wayne, Rich Boi, do i have to go on?
Can you look at those names and picture 10 years later people namin any one of them a Hip-Hop legend? I ain't think so.
Save hip-hop BEFORE IT DIES. Support real music.
