Jack Nicholson: his Joker was more like the cartoon Joker from the TV show

Heath Ledger: his Joker was from the comic books, dark, evil, twisted, psycho path monster.

Godfather vs The Dark Knight?

Simply put...

The caliber of acting between the two movies is pretty on par. Although more actors and actresses in GF were able to show off their abilities than in DK where it focused on much fewer characters.

Overall value? In the end The Batman is about a guy in a bat suit.

Godfather is a struggle of a moral man in an immoral world slowly letting the immoral reality sip into him.

Similar, but GF presented it in a very real setting. Which is tougher to execute

Unlike Batman, who sees his fight as something to play out for the greater good, the Joker is in it just for his laughs.

It's hard to tell because Nicholson's Joker was the one we're all familiar with : The cackling, laughing, homocidal prankster. Heath's Joker is a psychopathic serial-killer-slash-terrorist-­for-hire. But supposedly, Heath's Joker is what the Joker was originally meant to be back when Batman was first released, before they had to drop the Joker character due to censorship.

I still say it's a tough call.
