I collected unemployment to feed myself and my family until I was FINALLY able to find work. Every day, 10 hours a day I looked for work. Being unemployed doesn't indicate a character flaw.

@Breetastic Actually I did mow lawns, clean houses, paint (inside and out) even babysat, and yes declared that income on my unemployment forms. I applied at Starbucks, Jack in the Box, McDonalds, every menial job out there, despite a having a bachelors degree. The crappy jobs told me I was "overqualified," despite the fact that I was very willing to work for minimum wage. Companies simply aren't hiring, especially here in California. People just aren't hiring. I was lucky to get my current job.

Also, you said "get an education." I have a Bachelors degree in Hotel Management. Things are bad all around, being broke does not = being lazy.

Unemployment does NOT come from the government, employers pay into that account. I wouldn't call living on mac and cheese a high standard of living. I reported any money I made doing odd jobs on the unemployment form, and did NOT collect those week. So my mother, who has Alzheimers, and I were supposed to live on the street? I don't care about myself, I only care about HER. I work damn hard in my new job, and still help others whenever I can. Bet you've never helped anyone your whole life.

Very few presidents write their own speeches. Reagan was one of the few who actually wrote even *some* of his speeches. There are actually positions for speech writers on a preisdents staff.  And contrary to the statement below being a compelling public speaker is one of the premier qualities of a good, great president. If a president can not eloquently deliver a message the meaning of it will be lost. See Nixon's debate vs JFK.
