I know my position is unusual, but I understand why most people hate bugs, at least real ones. I'm sure if bugs were really like they are in these commercials that more people would like them. Their pride, arrogance, haplessness, mischievousness, fun-loving, and occasional affection and concern for each other is so much like our human personalities. I have a discussion group about these ads. Go into flickr groups and type Raid Bug Drama in the search window. Out of space. Later.

Believe it or not, I am actually on the bugs' side seeing them lose and end up dead in these commercials ALL THE TIME. The poor things tried every way they could to hide from or resist the Raid and NOTHING EVER WORKED. Plus some of the cute things they do like sticking their tongues out, hugging each other, pattering their feet, etc. etc. Yes the whammy was really cute and looked like these bugs. The whammy got conked on the head and so on, but it didn't lose it's life like these poor bugs!

@PlaneAndTVtechfan One or two things roaches do ARE gross, but there's a lot of good about them, too. They can cure cancer, help heal bone fractures, predict hurricanes, etc. Plus their colors and wavy antennae are pretty. Also see my comments above. Guess I let my affection for these Raid characters dictate how I feel about real bugs. Most people would be the other way around.

@johnissoevil I don't see how these bugs do anything worthy of death. They are kind of naughty, sneaking around at night stealing food like kids sneaking in the cookie jar and maybe leave a few germs behind. It seems really unfair that they should get the death penalty for that stuff when humans often get off scott free for murder!!! Plus some of the cute things they'd do like pattering their feet and sticking their tongues out makes them seem a lot like mischievous children.
