I had fun with this game, until I realized it was destroying my hand. I was also getting tired of the game just giving away my hard earned stars to other players.
@starsoldier1 Hmm, you're right; I was thinking about Mario Golf & Mario Tennis and thinking one of them was Mario Party instead. Hopefully Nintendo will release one of the N64 Mario Party games on the Virtual Console soon :)

I've only played Mario Party 7, & most people didn't like that one, but I liked it. I was surprised they made DK a NPC later in the series, instead they let you play as Waluigi, what rubbish! I think it's funny that Sega tried to cash in on the Party phenomenon by making Sonic Shuffle, though I'd probably would play that instead of Sonic the Hedgehog on Xbox 360.
Actually, I never played Sonic Shuffle so I couldn't say. I just didn't like the playing Sonic on the 360, the first level pissed me off along with other silly stuff. I'd like to try the RPG they made for the DS, since I've had the thought of a Sonic RPG since Mario RPG. Those Sega slackers!
When Hungry Hungry Hippos just isn't doin' it for ya. LOL I liked this game they're fun with lots of players. Reminds me I think I have this game. I haven't played it in a very long time!
@MN12BIRD Hungry Hungry Hippos is so overrated. I haven't played it in awhile myself but I'm surprised how well it holds up when I tried it again here.
I actually never played the Mario Party games and to this day have not played a single Mario Party game. I was always gonna get around to playing it just never did. Hopefully, I can play one of them soon. It was Mario Party and Paper Mario series I never played. I played Mario 64, Zelda: OOT, Star Fox 64 where like the main ones for me.
I do think this first one is the best one. The newer ones (from what I've played at a friend's house) seem overly complicated and the games aren't as fun.
I loved collecting/buying mini games. I really wish we'd never sold it.
I'd say if the damn boo/lightbulb control-stick-killer part wasn't in the game, it would earn at least another 5 points. :D
@alecjahn Yeah, the first one here seemed to have a really good balance of mini games to playthrough. Mario Party 8 on the Wii on the other hand had some of the most awkward ones of the series and I think that's why Nintendo hasn't made a sequel in awhile.

I love this game! I think it'll be the next Virtual Console game I download on my Wii...unless Mario Party 2 gets released :)
