The Problem is, that in today's time, Everyone in Big to Small cities are always in a Hurry, and are to Lazy to get up an extra 20 mins to do a nice prep shave along with a 2-3 pass with a DE Razor, I cant stand ingrown hairs or Razor bumps, and i have Fairly Clean smooth skin, After Trying DE Edwin Jagger EJ89l with a Feather Blade, which only cost me 36 cents each, I will never go back to Gillette Pro Glide at $4.50 a Cartridge, i get Four Shaves 3 passes each shave for only 9 cents a shave.
Carrie's legs was the icing on the cake! I wish this was accepted, the test idea it self is actually pretty good. I'm sure Gillette and Schick wouldn't like it, though.
He should've known damn well "Mythbusters" is NOT going to EVER do this challenge. Gillette will NOT EVER allow Discovery channel to air this kinda bad PR about their products. I would love to see it though, especially the Kerri's legs part. I love every one of your videos!
@rbtupper I learned with a safety razor. I have tried 2 threw 5 blade razors. I went back to the safety razor. The way they are going, they will eventually have the 50 blade razor. It will be so long that you will just screw it to the wall and rub on it like a cat.
I usually stick to a two or three blade but I'd agree that DE safety razors are the way to go for shavers who want the optimal solution but they require some learning.
I currently use Gillette Blue 3 and it is actually really good because it's got a pivoting head and a wider lubricating strip. The down part is that it gets clogged with hairs and i have to rinse it often
I agree with you as per my own experience, yet I know lots of guys that get smooth as hell with the mass produced crap. I think this route works best for those of us with tougher beards and/or wimpy skin, but for some guys it may not matter. And the power of marketing is very strong, as the 20/20 story about Grey Goose vodka proved.
i agree. but there is one area that i think you may have missed (or i have missed on the video), it is that you may get am easier shave with more blades. please post a video response to my Mythbuster Challebge to let me know what you think.
I completely agree with this video. I've used everything from the Quattro, the Mach3, and disposable dual bladed razors, and the best thing I've ever used without using a safety razor has been the single bladed, non-lubricating, non-pivoting, Bic Metal blades. They cost $1.29 for 5 at the grocery store. Best shave I've ever had.
This sounds like a great idea for a show that would be relevant to the majority of the population(anyone who shaves at all). I hope Mythbusters goes with it!
I really hope they test this stuff, great idea mantic59.
One way to test this would be to create a bigger version of the blades (2-10x), creating "cartridges" with 1 to 6 "blades", *then* testing them on something equivalent to the facial hair real blades are supposed to cut. That way they could take actual measures of how short every cartridge performs. Voila! Just my MXP$0.02 ;-)
The only thing I remember from the video is "Kari's legs"
But seriously, I don't think any of them have the proper technique to use a straight (especially not Jamie), so they would need some experimented shavers to help for the tests.
Fantastic idea! I would love to see it. Just don't let Jamie lose his stache. I would quit watching! haha Seriously, nothing better than a vintage Gillette safety razor.
You're damn right. I had been using razors with 3-5 blades for years, thinking they gave the best shaves. But, it was getting quite expensive, so I decided to buy a single blade safety razor, and I haven't looked back since. Thanks for the tips!
The only problem I would see is if MythBusters has a shaving company as a sponsor. I'm sure they don't want this myth to be busted.
It would be funny to see though. Mythbusters uncovering the truth on shaving and then they break for a Gillette Fusion commercial that's paying for it.

I have used all the shaving techniques. Of all of them, the best shave I have gotten has been from the straight razor.

I learned with a safety razor, and it was a miserable experience. Modern razors are far superior. The good old days weren't so good.

@fleming1972 Yes, they do. I think he had it right in the vid. The most useful feature of the mufti blade razors is the swivel.

I second the motion. Perhaps this could be the one thing that could provoke Jamie to shave his walrus-stache.
