It's not a choice its a disease, you can't really argue that, a male can't be attracted to another man, even if he has some bugs, one time he should be triggered by the instinct to breed, your a evolutionist right??? you deny yourself.
I am gay i think people cant choose to be gay but i dont think its fully born that way. theres a bit of social effect and influence, but for the most part i think ppl r born that way.
@OpenTheB0x I don't think that concerns people who don't beileve in god.
But then I guess that just diverts the question to wether god exists or not.
If you ask me, even If god was unquestionably real, I still wouldn'nt worship him. Because he's let so many people suffer, innocent and sinful alike. Anyone who does choose to beileve in god because they don't want to go to hell, is clearly worshipping god out of fear rather than loyalty anyway.
off topic, but by sense pretty close: i choose to quit my job, and work at another company , doing almost the same job , 2 hours less (per week) and for 350"money-currency" more per month. at the last day of work at my old job the boss asked me why i quit. i only gave him "several reasons" as an answer, because i didnt want to justify myself in this situation. and he had no more questions about it, because i gave him an answer that in my eyes was clear enough.
Religion is a benign choice. Our parents or godparents may have decided something for us, but we're not obligated to subscribe to it willingly. People have been bugged because of their choice of religion, even though they ought not to be. Committing crime is a malicious choice. Taking someone's life or goods + chattels without permission is rude. People have been bugged because of their choice to commit crime, and they ought to be.
I don't feel I choose who I am attracted to for the most part. But, while I am a lesbian, if I had the choice to be straight, I wouldn't choose that option...bi...sure, why not? But exclusively attracted to the opposite sex? Why? Being gay is pretty kick ass as it is.
@aixelsydyslexia I think I have the same views as you. What is your opinion on being bi verses lesbian? I'm just curious. I am bi, I become attracted to men because of their gene's for making babies, but I'd rather see myself raising those kids with another woman. Kick ass - I'd say :P
@ange76prkr - To me being bi, at least for me, would entail being emotionally, romantically, and/or sexually attracted to men as well as women. I know I am attracted to women but I do not experience this for men with very few exceptions (and usually they are the sort to be male lesbians, MtF, etc). In other words, I am not attracted to a male gender identity though I might make the exception where it concerns women who have a more masculine gender, but they are still women and identify as such
@aixelsydyslexia Do you mean you would be attracted to a man with feminine features? I know a guy with a hour glass figure and heis very slim because of his fast motabolism, guys like that are what I have tended to be attracted to. I've been thinking about it and well most of my long term boyfriends were very good in dresses (one of them even won a drag fashion show in paris).
@ange76prkr Well, I have found more feminine (in mannerisms, voice, etc) men to be somewhat attractive. Though usually it's nothing near to the attraction I feel for a woman I find attractive. It still is more platonic than not. I think ZJ is a good example of the sort of person who is physically male who I would find attractive (though personality has more to do with it...having a good personality and a good mind and a sense of humor helps and ZJ has all these qualities).
It is a bit annoying that there are some gay people that can't stop themselves from informing everyone in the country of that fact. Being gay is nothing to be proud of at all. Standing up to anti-gay haters though IS something to be proud of. I also wish they'd stop pushing the stereotype onto themselves. Sometimes it seems like these proud-to-be-gay people are really making it worse on the other gays. That's a tad off-topic though...
So, if being gay was a choice, I'd have picked it ages ago.
I am kind of annoyed as to how people think. I am straight, for one thing. I can not understand how being gay can possibly be a choice. I don't look at a girl and choose to think that she is hot. She just is. I can't really see how you can choose to be sexually attracted to something. The idea of calling it a choice just sounds like an excuse to let people throw blame about something that makes them uncomfortable. I swear, people are retarded.
Personally I beleive it's partially genetics, partially learned, and partially choice.
Like the food you like to eat and also your temperament.
While certain genes may make it more likely it can't /make/ you develop that way.
In the case of sexuality it would also no doubt be effected by hormones that were present whilst one develops in the womb, though of course, that also just effects the likelyhood.
I agree that it does not matter. Whatever two consenting adults like doing to eachother privately, why should anyone else be bothered? I wish you could choose, women aren't always easy to live with. ;) (I'm joshing, I love U!)
To be fair, heterosexuals peforming oral and/or anal sex have also been the subject of prosecution in the past. Some people just can't seem to mind their own business, another sad fact of humanity.
I've tried to explain this to a particular friend so many times, I'm going to just go ahead and send them a link in the hope they'll finally understand. Thankyou!
OMG you people are so stupid, you are born gay, would you CHOOSE to be mocked and teased, have you ever had to choose if you like her or i like him, i mean really people YOUR BORN GAY, YOU DONT CHOOSE
@GameFreak1822554 Are some people born to like asian midgets taking a dump on their chest?
Come on man gay people are perverted of the mind, if you idulge in sin long enough youll eventually be gay or like animals or kids of even violence. Its called demonic influence.
@ZJemptv 'The worst thing is, I see so many gay people who defend themselves from intolerance by saying, "I never chose to be this way, it's just who I am, it's not a choice." ' This doesn't sound to me as a weak excuse or being ashamed of it. This is an attempt to educate ignorant prejudice people. Ignorant people need to understand that sometimes it is a choice and sometimes it is not. Although I agree with you that no one should answer to anyone about sexual orientation.
@MrBarondavid Being gay is NEVER a choice. Someone may CHOOSE to only sleep with the same gender, but you can't choose your sexual orientation. You can only CHOOSE your behavior.
The undesireable thing about being gay is the discrimination and the negative stereotypes that some less-than-polite people attach to it. Very few people would choose such a thing if they were born in intolerant societies.
People like the commenters on this video, who suggest that gays who flirt with them deserve to be beaten, have obviously never been flirted with by a girl they werent attracted to. Its not the end of the world. You are still who you are regardless of someone elses actions. Its ok to be straight and simultaneously accept the right of others to live happy peaceful lives.
I disagree with a lot of the conclusions reached by the APA. I think that there is a biological basis, as well as a cultural/experiential basis, as well as some kind of choice, involved in determining sexual orientation. I also agree with ZJ, in that it doesnt matter in the slightest. people who are threatened by the orientation of others need to get a grip on their own identity. And then realize it doesnt matter what someone else does with their sexuality.
and I look down here in the comments and see arguments. some people didnt get the video i assume. im ok with gays .... so long as they dont sprinkle any gay magic dust on me. jk
APA revised stance There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors. Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles.

being gay is such a small part of somebody that gay people throwing it in everyone's face is what causes all of their problems... if I have a diaper fetish, I don't see the point in adding that fact in every aspect of my life and hustling a special interest movement over something that is none of anybody's business.
Gay people are also narrow minded and nasty too, toward trannies and bisexuals specifically and I think it is insecure to take a small aspect of yourself and make it all of u.
well, in Germany there is none of this drama like there is in the US because we learned from the Holocaust to treat people like human beings and I lived in the US on and off growing up and have traveled to various places and the US is one of the most hateful miserable places and nobody identifies as human there, they are labels and everyone is so nasty and mean it is insane. But Americans have no idea about that part of their society that takes away from enjoying life, it is sad, really.
"gay people throwing it in everyone's face is what causes all of their problems" "Kind of like what heterosexuals do?" I have no problem with people being gay but I think gayness is flaunted more so than straightness, because it is different. There is all this gay pride extravaganza, rainbow accessories, gay parades, etc. It seems gay people feel inclined to let everyone know that they are gay. Being straight was never thought of as something to be "proud of", it just is what it is.
@MrSpieldose Homosexuality is not a fetish. And how exactly do gay people "throw it in everyone's face"? Would you say that straight people having open relationships, taking their partners on dates, getting married and talking about being straight (example- she so hawt) is throwing their sexuality in gay people's faces? Somehow, I don't think you would. And me and the rest of the gay community being open about our sexuality is most definitely not the cause of societies general intolerance of us.
@MrSpieldose The thing is, If you have a fetish, the only person that knows is the person you are having sex with.
If you are gay, you have to go out with your spouse: formal functions, teacher's conferences, etc. thats what normal people do... so gay people do it too.
@MrSpieldose I would like to add that not everyone is mean towards transsexuals and/or bisexuals. I am fully accepting of anyone with respect to their sexuality. SO please don't assume that all gay people are mean :)
It's like if you had a diaper fetish that was so extreme you weren't interested in women, and you had to have a tattoo on your forearm that made that clear. Sure you might try to keep it from people, but at some point people will find out, and say that a majority in the country felt that diaper fetishes were a crime worthy of death.
Then there were people consistently bashing diaper fetish people almost every day around you, and accusing you.
i dont mean to mean but your a guy right?.......i got confuced whe you dressed like a girl....sounded like a guy...then dressed like a guy....and..so im thrown completely off....for some odd reason...my opinion thinks you should be straight..or at least not think about sex and hel mankind advance in technology and help the workforce...uh..i dont know you but i keep thinking your smart...im sure you are..so...yea....kinda creepy to....nvm...
Ok, so the term is homosexual. I would like to point out the SEXUAL part. Being a homosexual means you are sexually attracted to men. Sex and love are not the same. So by gay rationale, it's unlawful to stop me from being married to Jessica Alba, as that is my sexual preference and it is my right to marry according to my preference, right? How can you prove I don't have a genetic predisposition to be attracted to her from birth?
Being born with the desire to swap spit with another man doesn't make it more acceptable, it just means you were born with some screwed up chromosomes and your mommy didn't teach you that it was wrong. The politically correct world has made it impossible to teach our children the difference between acceptable and unacceptable behavior.
Remember kids, gay and atheist is no way to go through life.
The atheist said "I think I'm going to die, and grow into a giant beautiful tree" Yeah well I'm going to laugh when one day a sweaty fat lumberjack comes running in with a huge axe and cuts you down, shreds you into paper and prints the bible on you! -Dane Cook
I hope you rot in hell you faggotty ass mother fucker, get the cock out of your mouth and be a man, be what god wanted you to be, not a faggot who likes men and doesn't believe in God. Who made us then? Dumbass >.>
Who gives a shit ?? I could care less if a person is attracted to the same sex or the opposite ! Who cares ? Doesn't affect me in any way ! In fact, the sexual attraction to the opposite sex is a good deterrence from the contribution of overpopulation in my opinion ! ill have the beer , you have the penis !!! Sounds great to me !!! What you feel is your right !!! Good luck to you, and when some asshole guilty of conceiving 15 children says otherwise , tell him to go fuck himself!!!!
That is an argument that is very common. And I've never thought of it in the way that you just described. But I think that is a very good point. It makes sense to me. But people are so intolerant, they refuse to take a step out of the box and think any other way. But when it comes to feelings, the emotions you feel for someone I mean. You can't choose emotions you feel right? Who you become attracted to in life. You've given me a lot to ponder on. I like that. :)
One thing I've always wondered. Let's assume that being Gay is a choice, that is to say, gay people are only that way because of a concious choice. Some men just decide "I like dudes."
So, please explain to me why someone would choose to be gay? What are the benefits? Seriously, if you don't have a preference for one gender or the other, why would someone willing choose to drastically reduce thier dating pool? If homosexuality is a choice, everyone would choose to be bisexual.
No, people do not chose to be gay, but they are not born that way either. Years of research shows all homosexuals have certain things in common which happened in their early years of life, which changed them.

why would anyone want to be gay , people who want to be gay are obviously attention whores
from what society has made the gays into is something to be unwanted , why would anyone want to be singled out ,stared down , talked about and discriminated against
gays don't want to be gays because of what society has made it not because its bad, its like wanting to be Jewish in Berlin in the 1930's and 1940's
Well, the big reason it's such a big screaming deal is that what follows "Being gay is a choice." is "So gay people need to stop complaining about rights for something they've chosen, and just be straight again". Obviously in a just world, this wouldn't matter, but the fact is, people opposed to gay rights think being gay is sinful or gross, and unfortunately they are the people whose level we must talk because their votes count too.
-PirateKing was referring to people being gay for one day. I therefore found the "gay for pay" example to be relevant, since it is temporary homosexual behavior. To reiterate what I said a couple of months ago, I don't think it's a always a choice.
-I've known women who have chosen to be gay because of molestation/betrayal by men. If someone told me that they have always been gay, however, I have no reason to doubt them.
I already said that I was talking about temporary homosexual behavior (regardless of the reason) because that is what PirateKing1256 brought up. This should be clear to you.
I havent read through the responses so someone might have already said this however classifying SO as a choice is an agenda that is not concerned with the truth, only that gay remains a behavior that can be prevented or changed. Just Say No to same sex attraction.
Some bold statements made there. I'm not gay but if I was I'd be happy to have you speak out for me so fantastically like you have done for so many others in the making of this video. You're right, no one should be ashamed of themselves.

Being gay is a choice and therefore people who choose to be gay really have no right to complain about the consequences of said choice. If you elect to live in a certain fashion, you should also expect to be hated for it. I am full support of homosexual rights, but that's because I know it is not an elective decision.
No, actually, why does something being a choice automatically make people justified in hating others for that choice? You seem to imply that such a choice is inherently deserving of hate. Why?
It doesn't justify people hating others for that choice, but it makes it hard to justify things like deserving rights and privileges if you elected to place yourself in a category of people that you know are not granted them.
I'm not implying that the choice to adhere to a certain sexuality is deserving of hate, yet I strongly believe choosing a sexuality consciously is deserving of hate, because it means the person doing the choosing is utterly fake.
"...therefore people who choose to be gay really have no right to complain about the consequences of said choice." - HipRockInc
This is only true if those consequences are independent of the choices of other people. If I choose to jump out of a fifth story window, then I have no right to complain about the consequences, because those consequences are objective and inevitable. [cont...]
However, in the hypothetical case of choosing to be gay, the consequences come only from the decisions of others to be bigoted. At that point, you're left with a question: whose choices should be enabled by society? Your argument suggests you think those of the bigots.
I concede. I simply didn't look at it from that point of view. It's like hating someone who chooses to be gay is the same as hating someone who chooses to wear white after Labor Day.
@ZJemptv Yeah. I actually retract this comment. I recently received a reply on it like, today, and this was posted a year ago. I have since completely changed my views on human sexuality.
@ZJemptv Just throwing my mind For people around me people say your going to hell if you are gay
Me i believe in god but if people want to be gay let them its america free rights as long they dont bother me i wont bother them i dont care if they are gay fat lesbian rich poor as long if you have respect for me i will show respect back
Which was in response to the overall video and/or a previous comment. Learn to read an ENTIRE conversation before jumping in the middle and not knowing what the hell you're talking about.
I do not agree on that one, the choice argument is a good one. It links homophobia to racism or sexism. Is not up to you choice if you woman or man, white, black or Asian. So you cannot be discriminated because of that.
Yeah. I couldn't have put it better. I am straight and I don't remember making a choice I just evolved that way. But at the same time if it had been a conscious decision....who cares. I'm not proud of my sexuality since I don't consider it a personal achievement or a failure...no skill, sacrifice, hardship or honourable activity lead to it. Do you really feel proud about your homosexuality? I wondered if you had slipped temporarily into a defensive mode which I don't think you need to.
The issue of choice is only raised when trying to defend yourself against prejudice.
It's not unreasonable for people faced with the accusation of the "sin" of being gay or not the "right" colour, to use the cold facts of genetics to defend themselves.
If you persuade people that being gay is a choice, you invite religious cretins to attempt to "cure" you into hetrosexuality. I wouldn't put it past the boneheads to try and "cure" people from being the wrong colour, either.
This is one of those issues that really deoends upon the nature of the universe.
If, in fact, God exists and hates homosexuality "You shall not lie with a man as with a woman, this is an abomination before the Lord." Leviticus 20:13, then it is evil. Note that Christianity is not the only religion to believe this.
Now, if God does not exist, or does not hate homosexuality, then there is nothing wrong with it, and do what you want.
ok, for one thing, if your going to express your OPINION then do it in a more respective way, because anyone would tell you that name calling is immature and pointless and offends nobody. guys having sex with eachother is usually in private, and you probably don't watch it ill assume, so why does that even bother you? and I don't know where you live, but where I live, gays don't make out in public, finally, if they do make out in public, they don't do it to attract closed minded people like you.
no, I don't know every straight person on the planet. however, arn't you the one who said "straight people don't want to see your faggot queer ways."? I was saying that there are more straight people that don't care about their choices then not, and yes, you can go around and ask people at random, and I assure you that is what they'll say. keep in mind im not saying that someone won't have the same beliefs.
Thank you for this video. It gave a new insight into this debate and has helped me to form better arguments. I never saw the sense in arguing about if it is a choice or not, simply because lots of people make lots of choices that greatly impact their life, and yet do not suffer the way that a lot of gay people do. However, I never thought about this debate the way you articulated it. Thank you!
I wouldn't blame a gay if he/she made that excuse mostly because there's alot of unfair intolerance and I think that they just want people to stop with the hatred.
Other times there's debates about how the Bible states that it's not okay to be gay. Personally, I think that it's alright for someone to have faith in something just as long as you don't govern other people.
Hmmm ...Thoughtful points and well articulated. I'm straight, but gay people don't freak me out. Always strikes me funny when people fail to see gay marriage as the civil rights issue that it is. A gay person's marriage messes with the sanctity of mine..HOW exactly? I'm off topic, anyway...right on.

i dont understand why you bring these serious personal choices and opinions to such a lighthearted website as YouTube. People on here want to laugh, not listen to lectures.
Some do actually, ZJ has some great vids on YouTube and as he says on his channel; "YouTube is a place for conversations, not just broadcasts." and i totally agree =]
Youtube, being an open forum, means that many people out there like to listen to others droning on for hours and hours. Trust me there are people like that out there. Just because you don't like lectures doesn't mean you can account for the entire youtube community.
Based on the number of people who watch these videos and subscribe to them, I think you are quite wrong when you assert that "People on here want to laugh, not listen to lectures." The fact is, people come to YouTube for all sorts of reasons.
I realise that after a lot of thinking that being gay is a personal preference that you can't change about someone, like their favorite color or favorite food. The only thing that is wrong with the statement "you don't have a choice in being gay/straight" is that you can't attribute that to anything BUT a persons' personal preference, which technically makes it a choice. But then if it was a choice, i'm sure most people would choose not to be to avoid hostility...any wish to help clarify pls?
No shut up they found out if a man has more estrogen (female hormones) it will make you more feminine and make you like your own gender. Also if your a women with tons of testosterone (male hormones) you'll like your own gender. Also when a impregnated women has a baby(male) the women has vast amounts of estrogen and so they have a chance of being homosexual and that's the reason why people are homosexual.
You cannot be serious? I want to know where you received your sources!Hormones have nothing to do with sexual orientation. How can you say that? Sexual hormones are chemical substances that affect the activities of the reproductive organs. They have nothing to do with ones sexual orientation. If a man has very high estrogen, it will cause things like erectile difficulties, lower sexual desire and even some breast production. I will not make him gay!
as a gay male myself i get pissed off when people say:" why dont you choose to be straight?"
you cannot choose your feelings, personally, i would choose to be straight if it was a choice cause at least then i wouldnt get hatred from homophobes and christian restards.
i am not ashamed of my homosexuality, im very happy that i turned out gay.
i just dont want people to say that bein gay is bad or unnatural
It's insane to be in an age where everyone is exposed to young cross-dressers that are more mature and intelligent about sexuality and gender identity than the full grown educated people that run the country.
But that's the age we live in. I'm not sure if it's a good sign or not, but it probably is. Five stars and another subscriber here.
Why would you be proud to be a sexual deviant? That would be like someone being proud to be a zoophile, or being proud to be an objectophile. It's the peacock effect, where you put on this front of ultra-confidence to compensate for the underlying uncertainties you really have. If you're gay thats fine with me, but just realize that it is a mental disorder, and it would be similar to having a "schizophrenic pride" parade.
Yes, being attracted to people is the same as attraction to animals and objects, because people equal animals and objects. You do realize this is just as applicable to heterosexuality, right? Homosexuality is not a mental disorder and is not correlated with any inherent deficit in mental health. I suggest you update your beliefs to reflect the current body of knowledge regarding homosexuality. I know some schizophrenics who would be outraged at this comparison. It trivializes their condition.
I think you're being a little trivial. Are humans adapted to procreate with humans of the same sex? No. Are Humans adapted to procreating with animals or objects? No; That is the premise in which I am basing my belief- that it is a Mental Disorder, on. It is a disorder to be attracted to things that one is not biologically adapted to be attracted to, In the same way that Zoophilia and Objectophilia are Mental Disorders. I concede that I went too far by mentioning Schizophrenia, nonetheless.
Why are you basing your definition of what is a disorder on adaptation? Evolution does not offer input on how we are obliged to conduct ourselves. It is a natural, undirected and often random process that operates with no intention behind it; it is not something that defines what is a disorder and what isn't. You may as well pretend to be Two-Face and flip a coin to figure things out.
"Why are you basing your definition of what is a disorder on adaptation?"
I guess more succinctly the word would be evolution. As I am sure you are aware there are other forms of evolution other than biological, such as social, or cultural. We adopt traits that help our species survive, such as empathy. Any behavior that runs counter to these basic rules runs counter to the very rules that enabled us to flourish and survive. Murder/homosex. /beastiality are all species-destructive behaviors.
Why is homosexuality an evolutionarily stable trait? Why has it not been selected out? Because it is not a "species-destructive behavior". Either it is neutral or it confers some other benefit, hence it persists.
Because homosexuality isn't an evolutionary trait, simple as that. You could ask the same question about murder, or Zoophilia couldn't you? But if everyone was A Homosexual or Zoophile, we wouldn't live past our generation. But since vastly fewer people murder, or are Homosexual or Zoophilic as compared to not, it doesn't have much of an effect on the human population. Does this mean that there is some "benefit" or even that it is "neutral"? of course not.
Your right be proud, I got a few gay & bi friends so I sometimes hangout at the 'gay' pub but I wanna point this out too....in my experience there is like 2 stances
1: Being proud having no problem don't care what people think, thats great
2:play it like a race card & state I can do whatever I want if your don't like it your homophobic....this just gives people ammunition. I been touched up even when i state im straight, thats dis-respect but i get told im a homophobe if i complain! :(

Sometimes it seems like these proud-to-be-gay people are really making it worse on the other gays. That's a tad off-topic though...
So, if being gay was a choice, I'd have picked it ages ago.
TailsClock 6 months ago
I am kind of annoyed as to how people think. I am straight, for one thing. I can not understand how being gay can possibly be a choice. I don't look at a girl and choose to think that she is hot. She just is. I can't really see how you can choose to be sexually attracted to something. The idea of calling it a choice just sounds like an excuse to let people throw blame about something that makes them uncomfortable. I swear, people are retarded.
roxas1296 9 months ago 8
Personally I beleive it's partially genetics, partially learned, and partially choice.
Like the food you like to eat and also your temperament.
While certain genes may make it more likely it can't /make/ you develop that way.
In the case of sexuality it would also no doubt be effected by hormones that were present whilst one develops in the womb, though of course, that also just effects the likelyhood.
MissMysterics 10 months ago
I agree that it does not matter. Whatever two consenting adults like doing to eachother privately, why should anyone else be bothered? I wish you could choose, women aren't always easy to live with. ;) (I'm joshing, I love U!)
To be fair, heterosexuals peforming oral and/or anal sex have also been the subject of prosecution in the past. Some people just can't seem to mind their own business, another sad fact of humanity.

TheLordcaine 1 year ago
I disagree with a lot of the conclusions reached by the APA. I think that there is a biological basis, as well as a cultural/experiential basis, as well as some kind of choice, involved in determining sexual orientation. I also agree with ZJ, in that it doesnt matter in the slightest. people who are threatened by the orientation of others need to get a grip on their own identity. And then realize it doesnt matter what someone else does with their sexuality.

MrSpieldose 2 years ago
"gay people throwing it in everyone's face is what causes all of their problems" "Kind of like what heterosexuals do?" I have no problem with people being gay but I think gayness is flaunted more so than straightness, because it is different. There is all this gay pride extravaganza, rainbow accessories, gay parades, etc. It seems gay people feel inclined to let everyone know that they are gay. Being straight was never thought of as something to be "proud of", it just is what it is.
pinkbutterflydoll 9 months ago

@MrSpieldose You may be a moron.
Might suck 4 you.

How can you prove I don't have a genetic predisposition to be attracted to her from birth?
picbusket 2 years ago
Being born with the desire to swap spit with another man doesn't make it more acceptable, it just means you were born with some screwed up chromosomes and your mommy didn't teach you that it was wrong. The politically correct world has made it impossible to teach our children the difference between acceptable and unacceptable behavior.

MysteryGreenTea 2 years ago
One thing I've always wondered. Let's assume that being Gay is a choice, that is to say, gay people are only that way because of a concious choice. Some men just decide "I like dudes."
So, please explain to me why someone would choose to be gay? What are the benefits? Seriously, if you don't have a preference for one gender or the other, why would someone willing choose to drastically reduce thier dating pool? If homosexuality is a choice, everyone would choose to be bisexual.
Sines314 2 years ago
No, people do not chose to be gay, but they are not born that way either. Years of research shows all homosexuals have certain things in common which happened in their early years of life, which changed them.

from what society has made the gays into is something to be unwanted , why would anyone want to be singled out ,stared down , talked about and discriminated against
gays don't want to be gays because of what society has made it not because its bad, its like wanting to be Jewish in Berlin in the 1930's and 1940's

@MMA "Gay for pay" isn't choosing to be gay; it's engaging in gay sex for extra cash.
poniesinashed 2 years ago
@poniesinashed
MMA 2 years ago
that is a simple question... because they are getting paid!!!! and obviously they are porn star so they don't care.

Being gay is a choice and therefore people who choose to be gay really have no right to complain about the consequences of said choice. If you elect to live in a certain fashion, you should also expect to be hated for it. I am full support of homosexual rights, but that's because I know it is not an elective decision.
HipRockInc 2 years ago
No, actually, why does something being a choice automatically make people justified in hating others for that choice? You seem to imply that such a choice is inherently deserving of hate. Why?
ZJemptv 2 years ago 15
It doesn't justify people hating others for that choice, but it makes it hard to justify things like deserving rights and privileges if you elected to place yourself in a category of people that you know are not granted them.
I'm not implying that the choice to adhere to a certain sexuality is deserving of hate, yet I strongly believe choosing a sexuality consciously is deserving of hate, because it means the person doing the choosing is utterly fake.
HipRockInc 2 years ago
"...therefore people who choose to be gay really have no right to complain about the consequences of said choice." - HipRockInc
This is only true if those consequences are independent of the choices of other people. If I choose to jump out of a fifth story window, then I have no right to complain about the consequences, because those consequences are objective and inevitable. [cont...]
mmmbena1 2 years ago
[...cont from above]
However, in the hypothetical case of choosing to be gay, the consequences come only from the decisions of others to be bigoted. At that point, you're left with a question: whose choices should be enabled by society? Your argument suggests you think those of the bigots.
mmmbena1 2 years ago
I concede. I simply didn't look at it from that point of view. It's like hating someone who chooses to be gay is the same as hating someone who chooses to wear white after Labor Day.

I do not agree on that one, the choice argument is a good one. It links homophobia to racism or sexism. Is not up to you choice if you woman or man, white, black or Asian. So you cannot be discriminated because of that.
soth3d 2 years ago
Yeah. I couldn't have put it better. I am straight and I don't remember making a choice I just evolved that way. But at the same time if it had been a conscious decision....who cares.

MrSonicAdvance 2 years ago
This is one of those issues that really deoends upon the nature of the universe.
If, in fact, God exists and hates homosexuality "You shall not lie with a man as with a woman, this is an abomination before the Lord." Leviticus 20:13, then it is evil. Note that Christianity is not the only religion to believe this.
Now, if God does not exist, or does not hate homosexuality, then there is nothing wrong with it, and do what you want.

I will not make him gay!
eriwadi2 2 years ago
they can also affect mental activities too. especially when in develpment.

You are right. But it has nothing to do with sexual orientation. This is the first time I ever heard that before lol.

okay dude, this is a importan topic for me.
as a gay male myself i get pissed off when people say:" why dont you choose to be straight?"
you cannot choose your feelings, personally, i would choose to be straight if it was a choice cause at least then i wouldnt get hatred from homophobes and christian restards.
i am not ashamed of my homosexuality, im very happy that i turned out gay.
i just dont want people to say that bein gay is bad or unnatural

DrOctagonapus132 2 years ago

RossingtonMichael 2 years ago
Yes, being attracted to people is the same as attraction to animals and objects, because people equal animals and objects. You do realize this is just as applicable to heterosexuality, right? Homosexuality is not a mental disorder and is not correlated with any inherent deficit in mental health. I suggest you update your beliefs to reflect the current body of knowledge regarding homosexuality. I know some schizophrenics who would be outraged at this comparison. It trivializes their condition.
ZJemptv 2 years ago
I think you're being a little trivial. Are humans adapted to procreate with humans of the same sex? No. Are Humans adapted to procreating with animals or objects? No; That is the premise in which I am basing my belief- that it is a Mental Disorder, on. It is a disorder to be attracted to things that one is not biologically adapted to be attracted to, In the same way that Zoophilia and Objectophilia are Mental Disorders. I concede that I went too far by mentioning Schizophrenia, nonetheless.
RossingtonMichael 2 years ago

RossingtonMichael 2 years ago
Why is homosexuality an evolutionarily stable trait? Why has it not been selected out? Because it is not a "species-destructive behavior". Either it is neutral or it confers some other benefit, hence it persists.
ZJemptv 2 years ago

rohanno 2 years ago
i don't understand why someone would want to be gay, but that's probably because i'm straight
i have nothing against it, but why struggle with hatred and prejudice when you dont have to?
