  • I don't know why but to me you look like house! :L Great video's by the way they really help! :)

  • Question. Why is it a major 2 chord (with a not occurring in C major F# as the third) and not the occurring within the scale minor 2? Or does the Nashville Number System assume major unless stated otherwise? Or is it actually a modal scale with a raised fifth scale tone, but you play a flat fifth chord? Or is it the simple matter of the F# merely being an accidental?

  • And finally CAGED makes sense. Cheers!

  • i didnt really get the caged thing, how do you play those chords in different forms, where abouts were your fingers

  • Nice lesson, that extra stuff was really helpful. Thanks a lot!

  • nice lesson! hey, i was wondering if you would mind posting a tutorial video of ''write you a song'' by the plain white t's if you get an oppurtunity. i appreciate all of your videos. i learned guitar in 3 days because of you. thanks and keep posting.

  • You awesome can you make the video explin how i can play Bon Jovi - It's My Life in acoustic guitar thx ;)

  • "WHAT AM I DOING UP THERE, ITS CRAZYY" ahahhahaha (:

  • Just hate this song. The play it to death on the radio and it sucks. It's like an out of date.

  • @agrevane If you dont like the song, why did you watch the video then? says what song in the title, you know ;)

  • @streetsurf194 LOL i didn't when I saw it just had to say something because it drives me nut every time I here it come on the Radio.

  • kablooie!

that was my mind being blown. thank you.

  • @yourguitarsage you should do a video on tips and ways to get better at transcribing! you're the best.

  • What was the strumming pattern for the pick?

  • the song in four *looks with a FOUR manner* yeah? :D :D LOL

  • Cool lesson!!!

I reckon a D7 sounds pretty funky though instead of the normal D chord in this :)

  • Good Stuff! You filled in a lot of blanks for me. I enjoyed your light hearted approch to teaching. Thanks

  • This guy is my hero

  • @ShaneTube23

    Nope thus guy was awesome

Or as my family would say

    He's got the jalapeño sauce

  • Great video. Not only was it very informative but also very entertaining. You are a great guitar player and great teacher. Keep doing what you're doing and we will keep learning.

  • You should probably cover this in D.. I think it would sound awesome

  • Did anyone actually leave at 4:00?

  • I looove the sound of your guitar. It is so strong and clean :)

  • Tell you what. Never checked out the CAGED system but it's pretty cool to get beginner to intermediate players used to different versions of chords. Didn't realise that it just took the shapes of open chords and put them in different positions. They're not strictly inversions are they, 'forms' is a good word. Like it a lot.

  • Great video as always, however the first chord of the bridge is III7, i.e. in Cmaj it's an E7! You can also play a D7 instead of Dm in the following few bars. Funks it up a little.

  • Erich every time I become tired of playing guitar I just put one of these videos on, before I notice it my guitar is back on my lap and I'm sooo eager to learn.

Thanks for the motivation, you are my only real teacher.

  • @Torste0908 Thank you for telling me that. That is rocket fuel for more vids!

    :)

    e

  • @yourguitarsage rocket fuel for lessons?? how about a lesson on some rocket man?

  • @Torste0908 i do the same thing :D

  • Erich, that was awesome - had a little bit of a brain melt due to overload but that is awesome info. I need to go CAGED school for a bit, off to the woodshed. Remember everyone - if it was easy everyone would be good!! Thank you O-Sage-e-wan :)

  • I lost interest when your "c-like chord" looked nothing like a c-chord at around 6:30. I'd rather you tell us exactly what it is you are doing so we can actually do it too.

  • @danielostler all you need is a little patience... and brains (:

  • what strings are you plucking? i like the plucking version more

  • How is this for beginnerss??!! D: but thanks anyways! you rock :D

  • SIMETRY GREAT

  • Wow there is so much great information in here, you might want want to rename the title to include the caged and number system. Best/easiest explanation yet on these systems hidden behind a title I almost didn't watch. I have both your e-books, great job!

  • thanks for the lesson! great teacher!!!

  • what happened to your C-like F chord? :D

  • hey can you do Better Than Revenge by Taylor Swift pleasssse?

  • Pause at 00:16

  • still, you're are the coolest guy ever!

  • you massive peado.

  • ausome

  • Why is D and not Dm ? I thought the scale says the second, third and sixth were minor, the seventh Diminished and First, fourth, and fifth Major.

  • @tullkass14

I would also like to know. Also, where did you get that scale info? In the e-book? I gotta get that e-book. ^_^

  • @parmezans got my info from many places, music theory helps a lot to understand people like Yourguitarsage, when they are giving a lesson, I gotta check that e-book, but these youtubers were also of enormous help to me : Richardjpugh, Waltribeiro, etc etc, so many good people in You tube, Thanks so much to everyone, they make me enjoy music a lot more.

  • @tullkass14 If you are changing key, you are really just changing the whole song by moving it up or down a certain number of steps (just like putting on a capo). Major and minor chords are about the number of steps between the notes of the individual chord (A major = AC#E, A minor=ACE). If you changed the song to Dm you would both move the pitch of the song, but you'd also change the type of chords you play.

  • I've been watching your videos for over a year, I bought your e-book, I quit taking lessons because i was learning so much more from you in your song tutorials and technique tutorials so i have to ask.... Why do you always look like you just roll out of bed and turn the camera on to make your videos? You do an awesome job of breaking the songs down step by step BTW.

  • Awesome mate! You made this song easy for me + it wasn't as boring as every other lesson in here! Cheers!

  • woah that was friggen awesome!

  • perfect lesson! thanks!

  • how about if the chord is a minor, how are you able to look for it in the scale??? :/

  • @renouwa5

    Been wondering the same thing.

    Can we get this answered?

  • wow only 1 dislike not good this could of been a perfect vid for not having dislikes. but to me this vid is perfect!

  • Learned a lot from this lesson. Thank you.

  • i'm really learning a lot from you. thanks!! :D you're the best! XD

  • Do you bar those cords when you went up the neck when you were talking about the caged system?

I learn more from 1 of your videos than I do from my guitar teacher in a school year. Thanks.

  • @Zibba Thank you my friend. Yes, they are barred if NOT played in the open position.

  • this is nice...
