  • and nobody think lady gaga stole anything from madanona?

  • to all of you retards who dont like this, take a look at rob paravonian's vid "theres always an a hole on the internet"

cuz that would apply to you

  • @LilMiss... Get a grip! He called it a joke because he needed a word to rhyme with baroque, which is the type of music the Pachelbel piece is - helps to actually understand something before declaring it unfunny...

  • @fbfreeellis Funnily enough, punk does borrow a few things from baroque.

  • @fbfreeellis no, iwasnt talking about the guy singing, but about the guy who commented to me...

  • hey.... guess what. FUCK YOU. Punk music is not a joke u mother fucking asshole. You are not funny at all. You suck,

  • @LilMissRockerChick1 Such a sad, stupid child. Do you not know what "comedian" means little rebel? He even said earlier in the rant he liked punk music. Also love, look up the word "pun". It'll make your life easier.

  • @erd249 exucse me? do u take me for a retard? i know what a pun is asshole. And do not call me love, ok.

  • Tis true- second violins shouldn't get melodies. Ever.

  • BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!xDDDDD

    D, A, B, F#, G, D, G, A!!!

    Vh1: i -3 the 1790's!!

BTW: did the flutes have a melody?!?!?

  • @flandersgal123 of course not- it was orchestra, not band

  • 30 didn't get followed by pachelbel

  • The mind only recognises so many chord progressions as being pleasant to the ear. You could look at all of musical history and likely find thousands and thousands of songs with the same progression

  • some songs have been used over and over yes

but it's no different than drum rhythms being used over and over again

some of them just sell better (better sound, etc)

  • hahahaha awesome this guy :D

  • @joeshmo416 OK . so you just ripped off this guys video and left the watermark of the program on to prove it. And then you Title it AVRIL STEALS......???? AM I the only one that sees just what a complete dick you are?

  • @frogsoda HAHA ROFL Great!!

  • @frogsoda you might call some one a complete dick, but you didnt notice that ''avril steals'' is the title from the movie this video was responded to. NOTICE THE RE.

  • @techskater107 No, I saw it. I've also heard about the charge of Avril stealing the song before. But stealing a vid to prove that some didn't steal a song is still complete dickery. He could have just linked to it in the comments of that vid and sent 164,891 views back to the author. He could have made a short vid referencing this vid. Or at least done a little bit of editing to this one instead of just downloading it and re uploading it with his own name on it.

    True?

  • can any1 tell me which song that was: "listen children to my story, it was written long ago.."

    ?

  • @irishprice "One Tin Soldier" - The Original Caste

  • @irishprice One Tin Soldier

  • Well, you totally miss a point here, 'cause the similarity between the Lavigne song and the Peaches song doesn't lay in the chords or melody. it's about the beat, the sound of the drums and the way she recites the lyrics. There's no such 'coincidences'.

  • GREAT, GREAT!

    Masterpiece!!!!

  • haha throw that commercial music upside down.

shw it for what it is. 5 stars. gg

  • how the fuck can you come up with your own chords?

you cant invent chords, everything has pretty much being figured out theoretically in music.

gatesgirl6661 shut up! its pretty impossible to be original without playing 2 chords together that some other music has anyways, most (90%) of pop songs are around the same set of keys anyways and they go in a I-VI-V-I cadence. canon in D was pop music of them days, just the cadences were new at the time, by about 100 years lol.

  • Pachabel's canon in D is actually a circle of fifths, and thats why its used everywhere...you cant really steal it because its just a division of the octave...

  • @GrapestheHero8181 but it isn't in order...it jumps around....and a few are inverted to fourths...

  • @GrapestheHero8181

Canon isn't a circle of fifths. What are you talking about?

  • why dont you guys just watch this video on his channel? he has lots of other cool stuff too <3

  • "punk music is just a joke, it's really baroque" the proof is from one of the best rappers of all time: FALCO! his song "Amadeus" is about how much of a punk Mozart is

  • That is one of the funniest things I've ever seen :L

  • Thank's God I play violin!!

    srsrsrsrsrsrsrs...

    xD

  • He's not kidding about this horrible act against cellos. I remember our middle school playing this once and Randy fell asleep on his cello right in the middle of it.

  • amazing! loved it!

  • HEY I PLAY CELLO ! ! !

  • Fucking Great!

  • stand up musician

  • What is his style called guys?

I have never seen someone talking as well as playing guitar(or any instrument for that matter).

Is is something old or this video is just unique ..

    please clear my doubt.

    Thanks in advance.:)

  • He calls himself a guitar comic, Steve Lynch is another popular "guitar comic".

  • Same with Demitri Martin, though Demitri doesn't sing.

  • o_O Wtf? Never seen somone talk and play the guitar?

What country are you from? XD

  • India

Talking & playing guitar at the same time is not so common in India and seldom portrayed in media too. That's why I asked.

  • O.O Ohhhhhh... *feeling like an ass right now* I didn't know that.. Sorry... ^^;

    Please forgive my stupidity...

  • ur right. everything has already been tried so nothing can be original anymore. suing is started to get overrated. i'm a musician and if i heard another musician or band do something that is almost exactly like something i did, i wouldnt be mad, i'd be flattered that inspired others. that's what music should be about.

this guy is hilarious by the way! and i did not realize that so many bands and singers had songs that had similar chords to pachelbel canon. thats interesting.

  • this guy just became my hero.

  • This is epic .

  • oh, my in 7th grade I had to do the same thing. I hated it!

  • me too!! the cello part is SHIT!!!!

worst cello piece i've ever been given.

I was playing in an orchestra with the violins playing this class part and i was stuck with the suckiest one EVER!

  • that was entertaining.

  • Rock has 12 notes. Not too much to improvise with.

  • Bien bien!

  • lol " f sharp" i play the bass

  • This is on Paravonian's own channel. Where it belongs. You don't steal someone's video and re-upload it. I hope Rob Paravonian calls you on copyright-infringement. I think I'll let him know.

  • GREAT!!! LoL i loved it.

  • lawl... ill see you in hell pachabel xD

  • this was informative,

    i laughed hard as hell

  • Awesome!

  • Also he was able to make me laugh in the process of it too! Funny hehe :)

  • So true lol! I love punk music, but he makes a point it is easy to sound the same with the cords. He proved it! :)

  • it was meant to be funny - laugh about it instead of being defensive

  • i play guitar

do you know how many songs have the same chords

i mean that doesn't mean they stole it from each other. btw avril rocks xD

    and Rob Paravonian to xD

  • i agree with wat u said up to avril lavine

  • soooo true. people need to leave Pachelbel's stuff alone and stick with the new thing called originality. It's a proven fact that people enjoy hearing music that sounds similar to other musical pieces they have heard. It's pathetic how other bands/singers can't even come up with their own cords. hm...disappointment much?

  • 1. There are ony 12 notes.

    2. There are only so many chords

    3. You cant just put random chords together and make it sound good. All chords has certain "relatives" that sound good in the certain key.

I dont want to go more in-depth with this as i notice you have very little knowledge regarding music composition. Do a litte search on the "circle of fifths" and chord progressions.

  • Then prove it.

  • haha i like how you left a decent comment and he proceeded to say..i would appreciate it if you did NOT criticize someone you didn't even know over the internet. That is highly immature of you.".. followed by "Go suck a dick." hahah and he's wrong so that makes it even funnier

  • Gatesgirl6661: I wrote you a poem...

    If stupid were a tree

    You'd be a forest

    If stupid were a lyric

    You'd be a chorus

    If stupid were a page

    You'd be a book

    And if stupid were vibration

    Consider yourself shook

    Thank you...

  • *Standing Ovations*

  • hahaha wow

  • Bravo!

  • lolol owned

  • @AlchemistZero89

    nice!

  • @AlchemistZero89 LMFAO!

  • "I dont know what that is... But i know im gonna break it"

    lmao!!

  • LLLLOOOOLLLL! funny guy lolololol.

  • hahahah! thats all i got to say lol! i lied! lol! i lied agaian!

  • i love this guy!

  • lol i heard avrils line and lol il see you pocket bell in hell.

  • Dude, you do realize he says see your ass in hell pachelbel.. not taco bell.

  • to the video's poster: there is a HUGE difference between using a well established chord pattern/melody as the theme or base of a song and using the ENTIRE song. chords are like numbers, they are set and pretty much wont change...but no one criticizes mathematicians for using a simple formula to prove a larger point. if a mathematician stole an entire theory, however, it would be huge. get the difference? she didnt just take a basic chord pattern, she completely ripped off the song.

  • Haha so true!

  • lol @ taco bell

  • The only thing worse than the cello part, is the bass part.

  • yeah i play bass

and i want to commit suicide when we play this

and i have to play it this saturday. ugh

    kill me

i do it only for the money

  • This is hilarious!!! I love it everytime I watch it!

  • He said D

  • wow you must be deafer than i am hahaha

  • As a cellist, not only did I find this hilarious, I feel the need to put forward that he's not exaggerating as much as you might think. That damn song haunts the corners of my nightmares.

  • i totally agree with you . i also play the cello/base(both) i can hear it in so many songs so i started learning the viola part on the cello(didn't work very well)

  • =)) so funny!!

  • That was frigging hilarious!

  • LOL, this guy makes an astute observation. Most pop songs follow the exact same formula because listeners like to hear songs that sound at least 90% similar to the last song they liked.

  • I like this guy

  • it should be called Avril Steals Again? From Pachelbel?

  • lol.

  • THIS ISN'T RAGGING ON AVRIL LAVIGNE!!!!

    gosh.

the guy that poseted this just took it and changed the title.

so you guys need to CHILL

    it's really called pachelbel rant

  • his real video is called pachebel rant. this guy who posted it just changed the name

  • no way dude. this guy is hilarious.

  • imyerlovertits:

You're just jealous cause you can't play the guitar.... douche.

  • agreed.

  • I disagree that there is no originality. Something more accurate would be that it just takes more work to be original.

  • yeah I realized this too the first time I heard a remix to that song playing Pump it Up (the hardest dance game in the world) I was thinking "what the hell??" and then my school played that Vitamin C song at the end of the year to say goodbye to the seniors. And that song is WAAAY too obvious with it.

  • ...F#... xD

  • 5 stars hands down

  • shut up moron

  • piano man -- billy joel

  • Oasis - Don't look back in anger

  • ROFL XD this is brutal XXD

  • That's kind of like saying that Weird Al's stuff isn't original because the beats are the same... Great logic in that one. 8-|

  • yeah... he uses the whole damn song.

It's intentional on Rob's part, not ironic.

  • holy f*%$in shit, i never realised how true that is, hahahah, that is the funniest fucking thing ever, roflcopter

  • that was hilarious!!!!

  • He's right..

There's only so many chords that go together..

If you looked at the chords on your fave songs you'd find most have the same chords...

  • no, because they got the MELODY form Pachebell. and then tweaked it and added words

  • almost all songs are steals from this song, sorry guys pop-rock is fake ^^ all go and listen to Better rock ^^

and avrill is fake, but still cute ^^ hehe

  • "and avrill is fake, but still cute ^^ hehe"

    You are fake!!

  • Even well-known "real" rock has the same chords.

  • And My Chemical Romance's "Welcome to the Black Parade" is the same chords as well.

  • THIS IS SO GREAT!!!!!

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH LOL AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    Dude You're f..... awesome!!!

    maaaaaaaan! K.I.L.L.E.R.!!!! >D >D Hilarious!

  • one of the best acts i'we seen in years

  • this made me laugh my ass so much! D:

  • haha, too many people use that same damn chord progression its so true..... especially cheesey pop bands

  • That's really funny. He's obviously a really good musician, but what's really impressive is the monologue he wrote for this whole piece. It's almost "ALice's Restaurant" good in it's execution.

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahah

    faaaareakin amazing!

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • hahahaha:P

  • THERE ALL NAMED YOHAN!!!lol

  • Johanne.

    ergh. german for John. gah.

  • I soo knew that....lol

  • Johann

  • mhmm.. all of those.. plus others..

  • can somebody tell me what songs he sings there i know a few machine head by bush i know the 2 green day songs we're not gonna take it and a few others.

  • "When I find myself in trouble

    Pachelbel is always following me."

    xDDD

  • it is overused but it is a simple chord progression. very simple. but catchy! many variations have been made to this progression also. i think it is so well used because it is one of the oldest chord progressions that doesnt just cycle through the circle of 5ths all the way through...?

  • a lot of songs, I THINK LIKE ALMOST EVERY song is similar to the Pachelbel Cannon

  • "Puff the Magic Dragon", and,"Flashdance/What a Feeling", are a couple notable examples!

  • LMFAO!

  • someone needs a life

  • I need a life? Wow, I guess every musician in the world who knows a thing or two about music, keys also needs a life.

  • You're still stupid.

It has nothing to do with keys. It has everything to do with chords and cadences. I chords, IV chords, VII chords, and V chords basically. The chord structures are still the same fucking thing, just in a different key on occasion.

  • Yeah and there's more to a song than it's rhythm guitar chords; like leads and vocal melodies. A song isn't a rip off soley because it has the same chords of another song, especially if they're not even in the same key {though having the same structure.}

  • Well, you put lyrics and a drumline to Pachelbel. There were none, ergo there can not be a straight ripoff. The basic Chord Structure is the same, except there is more talent in Pachelbel's piece. (Which isn't even a Cannon really)

Are you in AP music theory?

  • You don't need actual song lyrics or a singer to have melodies in a song. You can take a song like "Basket Case" and play the vocal line on guitar, you'd still have all the parts of the song, they'd just be played instead of sung. Well, Canon In D has all sorts of melodies going on which can serve the same purpose, giving both songs and many others variety and a difference. You can't honestly believe every song with the same chords is a rip off.

  • That would be a no on the Theory question. Look, when you're debating about music, make sure you are not debating against a musician who is going to school for music. You don't have to tell me about not having to have vocals in a song to have a melody; I pretty much said that myself when I said that Pachelbel's Cannon in D had no vocals or a drumline. Obviously it has a melody or bands like that wouldn't have sparked Mr. Paravonian's skit.

  • Look, I'm not going to start shaking in my boots cause you're taking some big theory class. You don't NEED to know theory to acknowledge that a song is more than just it's chords and to acknowledge that a song isn't a rip off of another song SOLEY because it's the same chord structure. And there's no "class" you can take to give you some kinda merit for your opinion. It's about looking at the bigger picture of a song, instead of individual parts and then branding them "rip offs" or not.

  • actually it's more like A chord D chord and G chord and Em chord.

  • You have no idea what a I or a V chord even is apparently.

  • in this case its D A Bm F#m G D G A but if you want to get Technical like Maveric 057 its I V IV III IV I IV V which is changed to differnt keys to make all the songs sound them same.

  • You mean I V VI III IV I IV V

  • the second last one is not actually IV, it's IIb.

  • Nope, you're wrong, in canon it's G which is IV :)

You should study the piece before arguing about it! ^^

  • Um....I thought it was Canon in D.... I actually play the cello and I understand what Rob means! But instead, I had to play it 58 times....

  • i have the music infront of me. the arpeggio played is G-G-B-E = Em/G = chord ii.

baroque and classical compositions tend not to move up or down by one chord as it can cause parallel fifths and octaves.

ii-V-I is popular as ii is the dominant of V and the first inversion makes the bass line run smoothly.

    defensive much? ;):P

  • Nice answer and defense, but you're still wrong :D But yeah I dont want to be an asshole so I'll stop talking about this. :)

  • i don't want to be an answer but you're not getting the last word. if my answer and defense are nice (and right), how can i still be wrong?

    :P

  • the second last one is Em7/G or IIb in the original.

  • someone needs a brain

  • duh almost all songs have the same chords but not the same melody thats the thing i always write basic g,c,d and em chords but they dont have the same melody only the same chords

  • haha i love this

  • dude...I...hate...pacobell...he sucks...and so does everyone who ripped off his chords...oh1 and I also hate the freakin chello...but this guy is hilarious!!!
