If you own the DVDs, I believe it is legal to download the episodes through torrents. Then just import the eps into Windows Movie Maker. You'll probably need the Divx codec available for free from divx dot com.

From what I've heard, most people get their clips from other people's videos, usually from the now defunct svufanfiction dot net. I downloaded the seasons using torrents, since my DVD set is screwy and wouldn't rip for me.
