I've drawn Johnny before, his lips are hard buddy. I know. *Back pat.* You did awesome at them. I drew him from the cover of a pirates movie, and he had the girl-iest-ish looking lips ever and it pissed me off every time I looked at it. :p You really did great. :]

LoL...I love how people on here brag about going to art school. I have no training and started drawing portraits for 8months and I bet I can draw better than 80% of the people that went to art school. Use your imagination and use your own style...why do you need someone to teach you how to draw? Practice is all you need.

@TeRRlFieD In my opinion and personal experience, depending on what art based major you take you either learn how a career in the art world works, or how to properly display your works in galleries. I didn't learn much about drawing when I started my classes, but I did get a huge amount of practice and skill honing from professors. So in a way, no one really learns to draw, or draw better, at art college, but instead learn how to better themselves and make themselves more persevering.

@TeRRlFieD I agree that people shouldn't brag about art school, but if you have the money, why not go to school to learn about something you love doing? I don't NEED an instructor, but I've been taking classes at the community center and swapping tips and discussion with the instructor has helped me improve a lot. By no means should you discourage anybody from taking art classes.

I've taken a few art classes myself. It's one of the most important techniques.Esspessially for the people that don't like to use those stupid little charcoal things that smear the pencil markings around.

You do this thing called pencilling lightly and evenly, it takes practice and skill and looks better than smudging because it employs the same texture as those around it

This is absolutely amazing! I can't even imagine having this much talent in my hands. I like especially how you left the eyes for last. It really made the picture seem to come to life at the end. And btw, when I say come to life, I mean really come to life. I just recently watched Sweeney Todd and I absolutely adore it. I wish I could hang this in my house, it is absolutely unbelievable. portraits are my absolute fav and my special. ive tried doing it on large pieces of paper but i ALWAYS mess up the scaling. either its to big or to small. so i try to do measurements but that doesnt work out as good
