Yeah, for 30kJ that is a total failure. Put it this way, 7kJ would take 1kg to 280 miles an hour if it were 100% efficient. A rail gun should at least break 5% conversion (hopefully a lot more)I would expect to see that can decimated. YOUR A FAILURE : )
Assuming decent efficiency, this thing could be about as powerful as the average deer hunting rifle. Because of the target, however, it's hard to tell if that's the case.

You forget one important thing, here: the 30 kJ are the energy saved by the capacitors. The enery of the bullet is much lower!
But... I also would like to know it's velocity ;)

I made the same mistake with a coil gun once, which was really unfortunate since my rectifiers were hand-assembled multiple stacks.
The 18kJ railgun pulser I'm working on now has HV vacuum relays for isolation of the power supply from the cap bank.
