I'm competing for the Borders Backsword Championship on August 10, and planning to film my training schedule, so watch this space for more fun with sticks!
Nice video Bob. I'll have to come up & visit some time If that's all right. You'll probably bury me as my backsword is mildly shocking.
BTW, Terry told me off the other day for describing him as a Silver practicioner. He studies a great deal more than that, but without doubt knows an awful lot about Silver.
I am new to WMA/HES, and really enjoyed this video. I am currently trying to learn Silver in my own. I know that this is different, but I found this video instructive nonetheless (footwork, speed, distance, etc.). Thank you for posting this video. Do you do Silver as well?
I've studied Silver in the past, but not to any great extent. Terry Brown of the Company of Maisters would be your man on that subject, or Stephen Hand/Paul Wagner down in Australia. Thanks for the kind comments :)
Their proficiency is quite breathtaking. - Rachel

I really like this video. I've just started Singlestick sparring out by me. I found this vid very helpful.

Everything with your fighting is too perfect is the only criticism I could make.

This is class, Bob! Some really nice stuff coming through. A great inspiration to keep up singlesticking, and attending to the footwork.
Any more Norwegian Singlestickers out there?!?
Can't wait till my next class...

Liked watching. Comes very near to Huttons treatise on the sabre. What is about cuts to the leg? Are they also used in Broadswordfencing?
Bonkerbomber 4 years ago
Yes, cuts to the leg are valid, but always beware the slip and counter cut to the head/shoulder if you're doing it.

Cheers Nigel!
My reference to Terry was in the English Martial Arts sense, rather than exclusively Silver-orientated.
If you get up this far North, give me a shout :)

Thank YOU! It is nice to finally have some videos that are not rapier and longsword. I look forward to any additional videos you post.
