  • I agree with phil though people like to listen to pop nowadays. Which is pretty dang stupid.

  • I born in 96.. it is cool year of metal or unlucky year for me ??

  • fu#k all of you that dislike PANTERA !!!!!!!! DIE

  • sick of reading dis's on pantera too. If you dont got the skillz to be these guys, shut the hell up, get on ur knees and suck justin b's pussy

  • just lookin at him when he is about to answer that last question you know he is brewing some massive ass dis, but hes right all these shithead bands are popping up out of nowhere and they expect people to just suck it up and being the suckers they do. but more than half of those bands wont make it cuz there just ripping shit.

  • This is the first interview that you really see phil starting to get that really low voice, n just Starting to ramble, but he is still god no matter what anyone fucking says! just a fuckin shame he did what he did to himself and to Pantera!

  • ITS COURTNEY LOVE!!!!!

  • Phil has the sexiest voice. hothothot

  • @rawkgawdez Defiantly <3

  • phil sounds like zakk wylde

  • when MTV was watchable

  • great Southern trend Kill is the best Pantera album. Period.

  • RE

    SPECT

    WALk

  • tits on her

  • What was Vinne Paul called before he joined Pantera?

    Winnie the Pooh.

  • @KoyLu7 your fucking retarded.

  • yea fuck foo fighters..stupid shit...gay shit

  • fuck the foo fighters

  • Anselmo + Vinnie would be the shit.

  • "we're from the south and we're killin' these trends" awesome.

  • Did Phil just get done shooting up heroin prior to this interview?

  • @mozzdef08 yeah,and maybe some pot too

  • damn that bitch needs to pick a hair color

  • phil looks fucked

  • Another thing is that these supposedly "metalheads" in today's generation are following trends of these stupid deathcore bands that sound the same and I can't even relate to those fuckheads who think that is "good" music. And not just music but television, fashion, and anything in the entertainment category nowadays is just too damn repetitive and boring. and people are so hung up on these social networking sites, when people could be going out to find things. take me back to the old days.

  • @MrBreedhate Well said, good sir. Good, talented musicians are a valuable commodity these days. I suppose it's always been this way, but the media expounds upon the success of lesser artists much more now. And MTV is a circus; it glorifies the most degenerate behavior in society, and makes impulsiveness and the sense of entitlement that youth have these days look trendy.

  • @MrBreedhate The 90's were a great time. I was born in '72, which means that I was your age back in the early 90's. It was really a special time. Sorry you missed them.

  • The thing that pisses me off the most is that MTV does not even live up to it's name anymore. The only thing you'll see is pregnant 15 year old girls crying about having babies, stupid jersey shore idiots partying and drinking, and other shit which does NOT relate to music of any sort and this is coming from a 19, almost 20 year old born in 91 who wished to be part of a generation when the music universe actually meant something. I'm glad their are others who feel they need to be born earlier.

  • Wish Head Bangers bull and stuff was still on... I was born in the wrong time period MTV and all other music channels suck now

  • Pantera, on mtv? i never thought i'd see that

  • 2:15

    How very prescient...

  • I wondered if Phil's home was damaged during Katrina, but it's probably on top of a mountain dug up and built by his bare hands and the house is built out of 2 inch thick steel plates that he erected by hand.

  • @mrkaiser1988 I haven't checked this page in forever, and I still stick by my statement, but I dont think most of you get the point i'm making. Idk what people are talking about, but i'm putting down the new scene trend of deathcore, I can't stand it. Its a scene with the open chord on repeat, its shit and its making tons of money. And I listen to extreme music bud, Gorod, Incinerate, Blasphemer, etc, so don't put words in my mouth, I don't read Revolver mind you. I like underground death metal.

  • Who was that interview girl doing all those headbangersball interviews back then? I wonder where is she these days

  • Why having long hair if you`re never going to show it ?... but Phil`s the man anyway.

  • man that speech that phil gave at the end is just how i feel now, with all this bullshit bands at the moment lke all time low and paramore, fuck them and there fucking high pitched bastard voices, fuck that ginger slut and her watered down rock, PANTERA AND HEAVY METAL TILL I DIE!

  • i really only just heard opeth after they released i dunno that album i cant remember now where the conjuration was on. They were in metal hammer and i checked them out but coz they got album of the year ....and i was like " hold up a second, how come i havent heard shit of them " and they are good .....but its so hard to hear anything new now on tv fuck. I remember when mtv used to bring something new to your ear. Now its fucking that show with rich kids all day long ...insane

  • Uhm...something about Justin Bieber's tiny penis......then I say something that all of us Metal Heads can agree with.....then you thumbs up this comment!

  • Pantera epitomize what a heavy metal band SHOULD be, all loud lyrics, and none of the screaming and "light" vocal shit.

  • the interviewer looks like courtney love with a flare of hayley williams and a dash of britishness.

  • You can see he lost alot of muscal mass. Phil was on Herion and all sorts of other shit in '96. Drugs fuck your body up. I feel bad for Phil cause he looks so sick.

  • @Clepto202 are you Popeye? Why do you say "muscal" ha ha ha ! loser !

  • @jimmi0082001 hahahah you didnt understand what I meant? bitch

  • VINNIES SHOES ARE FUCKIN AMAZING!!!!

  • 0:10 Phil burbs

  • phil is high as fuck :D

  • Still I remember the 96 as a very good year for rock. It vas Tool with Aenima, Marilyn Manson with Atichrist Superstar, Sepultura with Roots. It was great. Maby the last big rock year in history.

  • @touretul That's soo true I miss that

  • @touretul @touretul Completely agree with you dude ! I'm 27, i remember that wonderful year like it was yesterday ! Remind me my metal days. i would add October Rust of T.O.N, Neurosis Through Silver and Blood, Corrosion of Conformity Wiseblood, Misistry Filth Pig, RATM and Evil Empire. But even great alternative records were put out : One hot minute of RHCP, Live is peachy, unplugged of AiC, pinkerton of weezer, no code of pearl jam...damn, i miss those days, i do not listen to bands of 2000's

  • @Kerrysc Also remember the underground their was a lot of great black and Death metal albums comming out that same year Edge Of Sanity, Opeth, Cryptopsy, Katatonia and Satyricon all made great albums that same year and adding those you already mention just make it a masterfull year. There are are still really good bands comming out in this generation like Mastodon, Gojira, Dillinger Escape Plan, Baroness, Obscura, Nile, Sunn O))). It just has become harder to look for great bands because for

  • Comment removed

  • @touretul yes dude I was thinking the same thing the other day, there was also Evil Empire by Rage against the machine, Life is peachy by Korn, Eyehategod with Dopesick, Biohazard with Mata Leo, I could count this for a while....man what a crazy year that was, I wish I was old enough back then to go out to gigs

  • @ffr3ak yeh! good old days!

  • @touretul ittl come around again, dont say that

  • @touretul soundgarden with down on the upside?

  • @touretul and you guy forget near that year the downward spiral from NIN!

  • Comment removed

  • @dimetonn that was '94

  • @touretul dont forget that the foo fighters were another good rock band that year.

  • @touretul hell yeah, i mis the 90s.

  • @touretul no , no , fear factory machine head , napalm death , death , obituary , overkill , thats metal bands!

  • @touretul

Dont forget about Nickelback with Hesher!

    One of their best albums!

  • @touretul tool and manson are not in the same genre as Pantera

  • @ifuckedurmomfag I was talking about rock. Isn't Pantera rock?

  • @touretul heavy metal, manson is industrial metal and toll is rock

  • the chick kinda looks like courtney love lol

  • @FuckPeople91 vanessa warwick. look her up.

  • @Mmxz14 i 100% completly totally motherfucking agree!!!!!!!!!

  • some people may think i'm full of s%*t,but i'd love to see VINCE and PHILLIP bury the hatchet and start hanging out again.

  • @dimebagdave77 You and me both dude.

  • @dimebagdave77

They need to, they really do!

  • @dimebagdave77 I really would too man. Phil didn't pull the trigger. I can see why Vinnie Paul is pissed, but I wish they could get along again.

  • @Hopper3513 here's to hoping man! thanks for the support!

  • fuck phil is so fucked up on heroin here,

    so obvious,

    the best voice ever phil

    dime (rip)

    rex/vinnie were class too.

  • This is around the time Phil started going downhill, ain't it...but he's back on his game now thank God.

  • phil was sexxyyy

  • Phil is stone.

  • ye all this new shit makes me fkin sick too

  • it is YOU that is WATERED-DOWN, fuckface.

  • unfortunately they try to act like Phil was better off in New Orleans instead of in Texas with the remaining members... the fact is that they weren't getting along to the point where they couldn't even record a record together, the good news is that the album (Great Southern Trendkill) is an awesome record and the song "Floods" best lead solo EVER!

  • From TX to St. Louis**

  • Straddled in the thraws of early addiction. Sad man. It's hard to appreciate the gift of music and the talent you AND your band mates have when your laced out on heroin in Louisiana cutting tracks for the music instead of with your fucking band.

  • I do realize that Phil has been through a whole hell of a lot and that no body could possibly understand the world hes seen so no disrespect to the guy. I actually met him...I was guitar teching for a band of guys in their mid twenties when I was a sophomore in high school. We drove all the way from St. Louis from TX to open for Super Joint. This was before Dime passed. At sound check Phil walked right up to me, blew smoke in my face and said "Don't fucking look at me" lol it was classic Phil.

  • @TheseFingersOfFire Wow i would of hit him in the jaw

though i love and respect Phil

no one disrespect me like that hahaha

  • everytime this chic interviews them she's all over Phil's nunts!!

  • NIN FOREVER!

  • NIN and PANTERA FTW

  • "harvestband" I don't know what kind of music you listen to. But their will never be a band as cool as Pantera ever. And Pantera will never reunite wihout Dimebag Darell. I listen to Groove, thrash and melodic death metal and I haven't heard a band thats heavy, agressive and brilliant as Pantera.

  • @diga1207 You are a fool. You claim you listen to Thrash/Death/Melodic Death and you haven't heard a band as "Heavy" "Aggressive" as Pantera!?? Get that weak shit out of here. I hope you know.. Disturbed and Staind IS NOT Death Metal

  • @VileVengeance Your a dickhead for thinking I listen to bands like disturbed...I even hate the fact some ppl call them metal. FYI I listen to bands like In Flames, Arch enemy, Dark tranquility, Gojira, Megadeth, Metallica till and justice, Lamb of god, ...and the list goes on. But what ever you say Pantera kicks the shit out of everyone else. Think before you insult.

  • @diga1207 hahah Disturbed ISNT Metal.. It's hardrock.. That's cool you listen to Dark Tranquility and Gojira but to say Pantera kicks the shit out of them is just fanboy talk. Be real about it

  • @diga1207 omg your soooooo cool you can list metal bands... get over it you dont have to prove how "metal" you are to someone on the internet

  • southern trendkill was the WORST!!!!

  • @tubes0308

Still 'Floods' has the coolest Dime's solo ever.

    @metratix

They won't reunite because of what happened between Phil and brothers, and besides, if that ever happened, that wouldn't be the same without Dimebag.

  • @tubes0308 No.

  • pantera reuniteing? thats a bit of a high hope , no?

theres fuck loads of great metal out today, ur obviously just to stubborn to accept it

  • Phil's stoned or something.

  • @NoRulesInNam he was doing tons of drugs at the time. Pain killers and all that shit due to a really bad back pain/injury he's sustaining. he opposed surgery because it would sideline him for at least 2 yrs

  • @NoRulesInNam thats when Phil was using heroin.

  • was vinnie just giving story about phil recording in new orleans to make it sound like there were no tensions in the band?

  • I agree with improfundo (the guy below VonShred3). There is no good music today. Lets be honest Metallica are as good as dead- they stopped playing quality music 20 years ago. What have we left- Megadeth- Dave Mustaine is too damn old. Machine are shit. So are slayer. Anthrax were ok in the 80's. The fact is this: When Pantera ended so did Heavy Metal- it's true. Down are ok but are lacking the awesomeness that Pantera had.

It all comes down to this: will they reunite?? If so then WHEN??

  • How long did that chick work for MTV?

  • I fell so fucking lucky groing up listening to Pantera and several other diferent kinds of hard heavy bands, shure it wasnt the only music played on the mainstream media, but at least you could watch a Pantera video every now and then, and you could actually buy heavy music records, now theres just none on the stores. These days its just so fucked up, its all about pop; you cant even tell the difference between hip hop and pop, now its just pop and pop rock.

  • Man when i hear this album i always remember Floods, what a fantastic job Dime did, what a beautiful Solo, and after i listen to songs that Vinnie kicks ass like War Nerve, Sandblasted Skin and 13 steps to nowhere.

  • Having fallen in love with this album again the last few months after i would say a decade of not really listening to it? came out in 96 . brilliant and by far the most experimental PanterA album ever. only a fool cant hear the Alice n chains influence on about 3 or 4 songs on that mindblowing album.

  • at the beginning, it's like, "And here we are again, third time in a row" xD

  • my favorite song of the great southern trendkill is without a doubt, Suicide note pt, II .. SO freakin brutal! :D but not the best pantera song at all (:

    RIP DIMEBAG!

  • Know whats sad, this is in '96 and they knew goddamn very well about music trends and revolted against it, yet these days no one can step up to the plate and go against these shit bands we're stuck with these days who make recycled dick just to make a shitty buck. Emmure? Whitechapel? The new age deathcore in general is bullshit. Its all the same. Fuckin' PanterA till the day I die.

  • you aint gonna here good shit like pantera on the radio dude, you gotta check out the underground bands heres a few... alabama thunderpussy, brand new sin, diesel finger, im drunk so i cant think of too many right now but underground hard rock is where its at fuck the radio and mtv fuck it

  • @Mmxz14

Pantera> Chimaira, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Demon Hunter, Job For a Cowboy, Winds of Plague

  • @cabalofdemons I couldn't agree with you more, pantera fucking rocks dude!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • @cabalofdemons LOG is cool the rest sucks man

  • @cabalofdemons Wrong shithead.. Yeah they own Killswitch(Metalcore) Yeah they own Shadows Fall(Metalcore) good job on picking the lightest bands you could find but Job For A Cowboy-Ruination is Heavier than ANYTHING Pantera ever put out.. John Davy owns Phil.. Rice owns fat ass Vinnie Paul

  • @VileVengeance

John probably wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Phil. Phil can sing, yell, scream with the best of them just check out Pantera, Down, and Superjoint Ritual for reference. Vinnie is a top notch drummer whereas Rice is a generic death metal drummer. There is nothing special about JFAC. If you want real death metal, I suggest picking up the new Immolation, Nile, or Behemoth

  • @cabalofdemons yes.. I know of Nile and Behemoth.. I was just stating that Pantera is heavier than all those bands except.. JFAC.. And EVERYONE forgets.. If Pantera didn't exist, John would still be there because of Morbid Angel, Suffocation, Meshuggah, At The Gates, Napalm Death+ many more

  • @VileVengeance

Fair enough. It's just in my opinion, Pantera's originality and musicianship is what sets them apart from the bands I listed including JFAC.

  • @cabalofdemons Yeah I can respect that. I just think it's good that you have a knowledge of all these other great bands out there ya know

  • @Mmxz14 Are you serious!!! I will name 20 bands that will D E S T R O Y pantera.. not just blow away.. but D E S T R O Y... You fuckin Pantera fans.. hahah I swear.

Pantera WAS good.. but even still DONT fuckin act like they are the heaviest band to ever pick up instruments.. dumb fuck

  • @VileVengeance

Pantera IS metal Bro. Even if you name a band that can "destroy" them, they were probably influenced by pantera anyway.

I hear riffs in deathcore and death metal of today and can here traces and modulations of Dimebag riffs.

Listen to the Cowyboys from Hell album and then tell me it's not one of the most influential albums of modern rock/metal.

  • @ardellgough Pantera is Metal.. I never said it wasn't.. BUT if Pantera never existed there would still be extreme Metal bands out there. True a lot of Metal bands list Pantera as influence but there are many many more influences as well

  • @Mmxz14 Well thats the thing

there is only a certain amount of people who revolt against these bands you talk about

shit im like 1 of ten guys at my school who hate todays rock scene and worship the punk and metal scen in the 70s 80s and 90s

Im with you man, fuck todays music and long live real punk

  • @Mmxz14 ---so true. I just can't get into all the nu metal, metalcore, deathcore stuff. No offense to bands like Mastodon, Lamb of God, Slipknot, Coheed, etc. I know they're really good players and solid bros, but their music just doesn't grab me the way Pantera, Slayer, etc grabbed me 20 years ago. Guess I'm old school that way.

  • @Mmxz14 Lamb Of God Is.

  • @Mmxz14 so fucking true man, couldn't agree more

  • @Mmxz14 i get what your tryin to say all these bands even say that they got inspiration from these great metal bands but i dont hear it, i just hear exactly what phil said, "watered down"

  • @Mmxz14 Leave Whitechapel, all the other bands can seriously get fucked or grow a pair of BALLS and write about shit that matters other then slaughtering people like immature fucking fuckwit's.

  • @Mmxz14

There are so many bands that are trying, but really, the audience has changed, that's why there hardly any real heavy metal bands today.

  • its not just cool album Phil but its really fuckin' kickknn ass...

  • for me its suicide note part 1

  • Which is the best song of the southern trend album?

  • the whole album is killer! i love all songs!

but i would pick up war nerve, drag the waters, suicide note pt 2 and floods as my favs!

  • @sharerx 10's

  • Phil is god

  • damn, phil was hella on drugs by this time, you can tell by his voice and face, fucken phil.

  • Gotta love phil, wat a badass!

  • yupp!!....because the trend kill album was made when phil was in to heroin and they where staring to have alot of problems betwen phil and darrel......

  • I love all of their albums but I think Great Southern Trendkill was their worst. Not that they had a bad album, it's just not as good as Cowboys, Vulgar, Driven, and Steel

  • @digitalph33rfan9 i totally agree, when i first got it i was almost overwhelmed by it all, compared to the earlier albums which had so much less almost total aggression.

  • its my fave.... i love how aggressive it is

  • @digitalph33rfan9 trendkill was better than steel i think

  • yeah i agree....they are all awesome but trendkill is more potent than steel

  • vinie is a very hairy individual

  • Vinnie looks like a fat John Petrucci.

  • Vinnie looks like Big Show!

  • haha thats what im saying! vinnie looks just like big show. xp

  • man ...the peak of his needle days

  • When Phil started talking I thought it was a corpse speaking to that interviewer. He really looks like he's out.

  • Wow this was an interesting time for this brilliant band. 92 and 96 were only 4 years apart but in this bands life it was 50 years. mindblowing.

  • now its almost 2010.and all rock sucks dick unless its black metal or death. man. phil u got em man

  • vinnie paul looks like phil margera a little bit

  • haha I see it!

  • Mmmmmm Vanesa Warwick! Hawm Nawm Nawm

  • I don't understand what fridogg is talking about, on this vid Phil and Vinnie seem like they are gettting along just fine, fuck I miss PANTERA!!!

  • vinny is bringing chest hair back lol

    pantera forever

  • when i detox alchohol everything looks dark as if im in the process of dying... even sunlight dosnt look normal. thats cause alchohlls a poison.. and hell.. u have to smoke your own bodyweight in marijuana to die.. its really not possible.. it gives u sleepy enough effects where it will spin u to sleep faster than it can ever OD someone

  • the first thing i ever tried was brandy.... untill i was about 22 i was drinking and smoking pretty heavily.... i had also tried LSD... shrooms.. meth.. and coke.. by the time i was 15.... but i never dove into white drugs or acid... and then when i was 22 or so i made a conscious decision to just cut way back on my booz.. ive never felt better... i smoke pot everyday.. i wake and bake fairly often.. honestly pot.. is about 100 times less damaging than alchohol.

  • Yeah becuzz smoking is cool and awesome and hi im 12 what is this!!!!!!111!1eleven!!11

  • acis is LSD you penarse

  • AWSOME!!!

  • "Makes me sick honestly" dude...back then "new" music wasnt as half as shitty as today.

Always cool to see him smile...

  • "We're killing these trends, and we've got thousands of people to prove it every night". well said hahahaha

  • Alcohol and drugs, bud.

  • damn phils voice changed so much through the years ...but it got deeper and darker ....

  • wow phil looks like shit :(....im glad hes sober now....too bad he didnt do it sooner

  • you could sense the tension here . theyre trying to keep it together. trendkill is pantera masterpiece. the content is what separates it,phils struggles increased.

  • realy fuckin good album

  • marijuana and heroin are very very different.

  • Exactly, that's it. But nobody will delete the day that marijuana will gives you less effect. WHAT CAN I DO?? MARIJUANA DOESN'T TURN ME ON!! OTHER DRUGS, YEEEEAH!

They could not be the same, but the first could brings you to the other really, really easy: I know a lot of people that passed on this tunnel
