I get so emotional every time I watch this scene because it reminds me of me and my cousin. We have that kind of friendship, you know. That’s totally something we would do xD I love him, he’s my best friend… my brother.
i remember watching this scene in the movie and im like hmmm something interesting is gonna happen. and then 0:45 and i peed my pants in laughter. he is the cutest worst dancer ever. but sweet moment in general. it even made me forget about all the bad things happening. harry and hermione best friends forever. :)
I love Harry and Hermione's relationship. They aren't in love, but they do love each other. They never abandon each other and are always there to comfort each other. I think the ending of the scene pretty much proved that aren't romantically involved. When he hugs her she looks incredibly sad, like she wishes she could dance with Ron.
I love Harry & Hermione's relationship as friends; it annoys me how some people keep harping on about, "Oh my god why aren't these two together?!?"...I for one (as a girl) tend to treasure close friendships with guys, without any romance at all. Harry was just trying to cheer up Hermione, he knew how badly she was hurt after Ron's departure. This scene is a true mark of Harry's love for Hermione as a sister, and likewise as a mark of Hermione's love for Harry as a brother.<3
@MissStarling88 as much as I agree with how I also value close friendship with guys without any romance, I don't think brothers and sisters look at each other the way that Harry and Hermione did... *shrugs* i'm just saying.
@chin666 Haha, true, true!....but everything else, the laughing & the playful carefree dancing & the comforting hug as they sway together, are all things that I myself could comfortably do with my brotherly guy friends, or even with my real brother (I do have one!). But the lovey-dovey looks that Harry & Hermione exchange are purely the fault of one of the producers of the movie (whom I hear is a Harry/Hermione shipper) who just likes to toy with other Harry/Hermione shippers. :(
@chin666 Actually, with a closer look at this scene, the looks Harry & Hermione exchange don't seem to be as seductively romantic as they initially appear to be. To me, the look that Harry gives Hermione says, "I know you're hurting, & while I can't bring Ron back for you, the least I can do is cheer you up, because I hate seeing you like this."
Hermione's look appears to answer, "I know you're trying, Harry, & I truly appreciate it, but even after the song ends, Ron will still be gone." :(
1:10 is my favorite part(: haha! Thank you so much for posting this! This is definitely one of my favorite scenes out of all the movies. It just made you want to cry because it was so cute<3 People think that this is to add chemistry to Harry and Hermione but can't you realize that he danced with her to make her have fun and try to forget about Ron? It's what any good friend would do. He's like a brother to her. Haha I wish I had a guy friend who would do this to make me happy.
i was a little confused as to the point of this scene. don't get me wrong, it was cute and all and i enjoyed it, but why put it in? it adds to the whole harry/hermione chemistry but that honestly just confuses people. i know there are tons of harry/hermione shippers but in the actual series, the directors should have stuck to the story line and made their relationship simply platonic. that being said, it was very adorable. =)
I mean, the point of this scene was to show that the relationship between Harry and Hermione IS platonic. Harry was trying to comfort Hermione because he loves her as a sister, as a best friend. I thought it was very sweet. I was able to tell that this dance was not meant to be romantic, but more about having fun in the most difficult times. That being said, I would understand if some people misunderstood this scene.
well, I'm a harry/hermione shipper and I know, of course, it won't happen, and this scene, which ends up not being even romantic, is a kind of interaction between them that makes me a little happier.
People who doesn't like the canon pairings suffer... Especially in long series, such as harry potter, when the canon pairings are revealed late in the books (even if some tips are given, but I, particularly, didn't see them).
This was the greatest moment of the entire series. It so great because I feel it shows just how much Harry and Hermione long for the simpler days, when they were innocent children getting into mischief around Hogwarts and not fighting a great war that's much bigger than either of them.
So, not to start a flame war or anything, but can anyone tell me WHY they find Ginny annoying? Almost every single female fan I know hates Ginny, but they don't know why. I'm thinking jealousy.
To be perfectly honest, I'm not entirely sure why I'm not so keen on Ginny, but I don't hate her.
Although Ginny is shown to be basically nice and courageous, I just don't seem to warm to her like I do some of the other teenage characters. Somehow (and this is only my personal opinion), when Ginny becomes a teenager, she seems to lack the 'quirkiness' and sense of vulnerability that is present within such as the trio, Luna and Neville, that makes them so appealing.
I some ways, Ginny comes across very much as a pretty and popular 'in- crowd' girl, while the others have all experienced being 'outsiders'
Also, I think that while JKR really 'shows' Harry connecting with Hermione, Ron and Luna, on a deep, emotional level, I'm not sure that he really 'lets his guard down' in the same way with Ginny. For instance, Luna best knows how to comfort Harry, following Sirius' death, even though they haven't known each other very long.
Everyone, chill the fuck out, it's a beautiful scene, and Emma herself said it was open to interpretation. You can't just be telling people that what you think about the scene is right IS THE WORD OF GOD AND NOTHING ELSE IS CORRECT, SHAME ON YOU. People can think, ship, and like whatever the hell they want. Goodness, lol. Just enjoy Harry's totally smooth dance moves.
Such a bittersweet moment. For a second when they pulled away I thought they were going to kiss. Harry/Hermione for the win. Harry/Ginny and Hermione/Ron for the snooze.
i really dont like ginny and harry as a couple in the books...i think it was too forced upon..she is like his sister to be honest! i always loved harry hermione...they have such deep rooted feelings ! i would have loved harry with hermione together !!
You know what, when Harry got the locket out of Hermione's neck, for a second I thought he was going to undress her! I felt like melting when I saw this. Dan and Emma have this great chemistry on screen. It really shows! They should make a romantic film in the future!
You know what, when Harry got the locket out of Hermione's neck, for a second I thought he was going to undress her! I felt like melting when I saw this. Dan and Emma have this great chemistry on screen. It really shows! They should make a romantic film in the future!
This was an unexpectedly sweet scene. I'm glad they put it in. I think it really just sums up how much Harry cares about Hermione to cheer her up, and the song is perfect too. I agree, I think that Bonnie Wright and Daniel Radcliffe don't have any on-screen chemistry unfortunately. I wish I had a man friend like this :)
I LOVE THIS SCENE!! ! I ALWAYS THOUGHT HARRY AND HERMIONE WILL GET TOGETHER! AWWW...'TIS OKAY. J.K.'S GOT THE PEN.. AND AFTER SEEING MUCH OF THE *REAL* LOVE TEAM [RON AND HERMIONE], YOU'LL EVENTUALLY ACCEPT IT, THAT RON AND HERMIONE IS A GREAT COUPLE.
Throughout the whole series Harry has always been full of angst and sad most of the time.
I love how here, we finally get to see a goofy side of him...he's not some kind of superhero in this scene he's just trying to cheer up his friend. <3
I don't think this scene was to show that Harry and Hermione were meant to be... I believe it was to show how strong their relationship is. He dances to try and make her smile, knowing his situation is causing pain to her and what she has had to do to protect harry, herself, and her family. He tries to comfort her.
i looove this scene. Dan and Emma have such big chemistry, that makes me believe that Harry and Hermione were going to end up together. I wish they had, they would have been perfect for each other :)
@AlexChris617 THANK YOU. I don't understand how people can still be for Harry/Hermione, especially since they added that bit in Half-Blood Prince where Dumbledore asks Harry about their relationship and he says they're just friends. Did they not see the way Ron looked at her when they were at the piano? I mean, come ON. Get it together people.
@missmottephobia JKR herself said that the fans of H/HR in the books are not misguided and it could have gone that way, she said that a year after the end of DH, she had to choose a way and she choose the R/Hr and H/G way. She said she had a hard time choosing witch way to go. So the H/Hr, was not just friendship. It could have gone ether way. I think that if she choose the H/Hr way then she would have had to kill off Ron. And people would not really be happy about that.
@AlexChris617 no actually. This scene looks as though Harry is contemplating becoming more than bestfriends with Hermione. You could search this over the internet.
You either know very little about the Harry Potter series, or very little about friendships. I honestly don't see anything in this scene that actually points towards romance. I mean, yes, they're dancing, but since when is it that friends can't dance together, especially to try to cheer each other up?
like others said, it's open to interpretation, but some people interpreted the way they behave (especially harry) as something that could point to something else.
anyway, we all know it's not gonna happen, so there is no need for discussions of something that is, again, OPEN TO INTERPRETATIONS.
This was such a cute friendship moment for these two, I really loved it:') I love Harry/Hermione as friends, they are so cute <3 Thanks for posting this, I've been looking everywhere for this scene in a 'decent' quality =)
Yeah, this scene just shows how they realy feel about each other. Harry and Hermione were meant to be together. damn it JK! such a powerful moment in the film to.
To be honest when I was younger I thought Harry/ Hermione would get together (never read the books). I found it odd when I found out he was going to fall in love with Ginny as she's just a bit bland and dull. Perhaps its just the performance and she actually has personality in the books. Still, no hate for Ron. I like watching the Hermione/ Ron relationship. I just have a bad feeling now that this scene may have upstaged the whole thing. It wins mostly for allowing interpretation.
Dude when they pulled away and looked at eachother I thought they were gonna KISS!Cmon!!!Ginny is just a girl who pops up randomly in one scene but hermione is always with him!!Why JK ROWLING WHY!!!! I hate you for not making them get together!):
@01919191 I'm not mad on Ginny either, but I can't figure out why... Somehow, they never seem to connect on a very deep level.
TBH though, I love Ron and Hermione as a couple, and I love the close friendship Harry shares with each of them. I think I would have prefered Harry to get with Luna, as she seems to understand him better than Ginny.
@TwilightVids4Life first of all, twilight lover, stop supporting sparkling vampires. second of all, this scene particularly shows WHY harry and hermione are BEST FRIENDS. Ron and hermione belong together (as do harry and ginny) but harry and Hermione's friendship is one of the most beautiful pieces of harry potter. a piece that this scene portrays beautifully. I repeat, their FRIENDSHIP. not their love interest.
@TwilightVids4Life And also, have you even read the books? because although Ginny seems like a random character in the movies, its quite the opposite in the books. I would do some research before you start expressing your hate towards JK Rowling.
@strawberryfeilds4eva Actually yes I have read all of the books and I know Ginny isnt just a random person but in the deathly hallows she is.Oh and for your information I was joking about that I hate her I was just joking and I was just saying that because she didnt put Harry and Hermione together. So yeah dont talk to me like Im stupid and a jerk because Im far from it.
@TwilightVids4Life Come on! Just one kiss! Is it so unfathomable? Just the way they cut out stuff from the book they can also add stuff to the movie- like these 2 hookin up! :P
Thank you for putting this up like this. I'm tired of watching montages and weird behind the scenes versions. I would still buy the movie if everything but this part sucked.
In the books I ship Ron/Hermione. In the movies Harry/Hermione's chemistry is so much more and.... i'm sorry.... but i ship them instead of Ron/Hermione. This scene was beautiful.
It's amazing how some people think this is Harry trying to "get" with Hermione. This is clearly a scene of Harry trying to cheer her up since Ron left...nothing more.
I saw this interview with Klovis who is the script writer, and he thought Deathly Hallows riddled with Harry/Hermione opportunities so it put it in the movie. He's an idiot essentially. But I, like you, like to be the sane human being that I am and treat it as the adorable scene of friendship that it is.
Perfect scene. The song is totally appropriate ("O Children", for 17-year-old fugitives facing down death), and their expressions are fantastic -- I swear, they both act their asses off in such simple ways. Best friendship EVER. :)

I repeat, their FRIENDSHIP. not their love interest.
strawberryfeilds4eva 1 year ago
@TwilightVids4Life And also, have you even read the books? because although Ginny seems like a random character in the movies, its quite the opposite in the books. I would do some research before you start expressing your hate towards JK Rowling.
strawberryfeilds4eva 1 year ago
@strawberryfeilds4eva Actually yes I have read all of the books and I know Ginny isnt just a random person but in the deathly hallows she is.Oh and for your information I was joking about that I hate her I was just joking and I was just saying that because she didnt put Harry and Hermione together. So yeah dont talk to me like Im stupid and a jerk because Im far from it.

@TwilightVids4Life Come on! Just one kiss! Is it so unfathomable? Just the way they cut out stuff from the book they can also add stuff to the movie- like these 2 hookin up! :P

@TwilightVids4Life Ginny is JK's self insert ... so there we have our answer of why not harry and hermione end up together

This scene was beautiful.

cutest part of the whole movie

It's amazing how some people think this is Harry trying to "get" with Hermione. This is clearly a scene of Harry trying to cheer her up since Ron left...nothing more.
It's nice :)

@Never1924 yea.. they left out the part from the book when Harry told Ron after all that stabbing the locket scene..
"She's like a sister to me, I thought you knew.. "

@Never1924
I saw this interview with Klovis who is the script writer, and he thought Deathly Hallows riddled with Harry/Hermione opportunities so it put it in the movie. He's an idiot essentially. But I, like you, like to be the sane human being that I am and treat it as the adorable scene of friendship that it is.

I just wish that Ginny and Harry had as much chemistry as they do. And Harry and Hermione are just friends!

I love their friendship. It's perfect <3
This is NOT a love scene it's friendship scene, if you see it otherwise then...

Perfect scene. The song is totally appropriate ("O Children", for 17-year-old fugitives facing down death), and their expressions are fantastic -- I swear, they both act their asses off in such simple ways. Best friendship EVER. :)

I wish hermione didn't walk away at the end. I felt bad for Harry. He was only trying to make her happy again.

The way these two look at each other and move together just makes you really angry the way the book ends. My fav scene from the movie.
