Me being 6'3, I can only "really" choose between 3 top tier sportbikes. The S100RR, RC8, and the R1 (present bike). I would like something more exclusive than my R1. The S1000RR is a beast, but truthfully, it looks like a modified ratbike gixxer (especially in the dark grey that I would have it in) and it sound "tinnie". The only problem with the very exclusive RC8 is that it costs $20K. Maybe I should just stay with my R1, after all, it does have the exhaust note of god.
@Hotoviraul I'm 6'3 (1.91m) with long legs. I can NEVER NEVER fit on a MV Agusta!!
I don't mean that I look silly on it (which I do), I mean that my legs literally cannot fit!!
The same for the super sexy Aprilia RSV4--TINY bikes made for tiny men. KTM bikes are designed by tall Austrians, MV Agusta's are designed by tiny Italians.

way 2 much money.....18000 grand who r they kidding...i hav sat on 1 and they look sweet but i wood hav 2 ride one and even then i wood not pay that much
This is the best Street Bike you can get, and the price is fair for its performance in streets but if you want a track bike a real performance bike then i suggest aprilia or bimota. Anyway now they came out with a track performing version (RC8R)..can't wait to try one.
I have to disagree, PERZN4LIFE. The new BMW S1000RR is the BEST street bike available to buy. The traction control and ABS system on the BMW is what all manufacturers will be srambling to match in 2011.
that bike a piece of crap for the money they want forit your better off getting a 600 from any other bike company cause I'm not going to spend close to 18k for a bike that just goes close to 150mph are you kidding me?
What a silly thing to say; Literaly one of the most dumbest comments I have ridden, you can't even compare a 600 to an rc8 really. and trust me it does a lot more than 150. Also im not bias as i ride a zx6r. Seriously get a clue. no offence
has everything the RC8 had last year with a couple of cc more and better feedback . The gearshifting 's easier and the total amount of power and torque has increased immensly. If you get it be sure to get one of the tuning kits !! The clubrace-kit alone really let's the engine "breathe" more and you'll really notice increased power (especially in de midrange). And with the SBK- kit you'll leave many riders behind... top speed should be 300kph or more
gethimtrigger99 you are just too precious! terran423 made a very astute and encisive comment about Mcwilliams review, and all you have to say is - what's the top speed on this thing!
I like that the review was done by an experienced motorcycle racer. He mentioned things in his review such as the fore and aft movement when accelerating and braking as well as the ergonomics of the motorcycle. Those were all valuable insights that get lost amongst acceleration and top speed motivated people. I've found through my own experience that the best motorcycle is completely myth. Only through one's own experiences
for the desired purpose can one make that kind of decision.
I dont know the topspeed, but I know it Cant keep up with the gsxr1000, this bike weighs more and is less powerful, but it's ktms first superbike, and it's fast in its own right. The handling is better than the gixxer's though, and handling is important, i would go with this bike.... For looks also :D
WSB - very soon. 2009 at the latest... They may be first on the paddock and they may be last. KTM will try anyway. Superstock racing first now in 08. MotoGP went in the recycle bin, remember the KR V4 made by KTM? Shakey Byrne couldn't develop it and he wasn't the man for the job I've been told...
@jbmckean They did Motogp for a while like 2 years, they couldn't afford it like other factories :/ 12 years ago when i was 16 i said that ONE day KTM will bring a fantastic sbk and now they did and for that i will hook myself up with the R edition.
Thank you and I have to agree with you on the job choice. I have about 7 laps with onboard camera and a full lap coming next. I think that I could see around 244km/h on the faster stretches at Ascari. The top speed is higher than that though.
Nice Bike!!

Top speed is about 240kph of the road version, so about 150mph. Looks beautiful, but it's no superbike racer... yet.

The McWilliams interview is a great idea, so good job Tor & Jezza- KTM too!!!
Cannot wait to see Jeremy hammering the new Aprilia RSV4, if he can put the old RS3 Cube out of his mind that is!
By the way, having camera on a tripod would improve video quality methinks.
