  • they don't write this great material any more.

  • My favorite part was when Louis Nye & Sid Caesar start kissing each other on the lips & catch themselves, like "What the..."

  • @legogenius - You bet!

  • Anybody else looking at this because Phil Rosenthal recommends it in his excellent book 'You're Lucky You're Funny?'

  • Uncle Goopy...... freakin' hilarious!!!!

  • ROFL AT 5:08 When Howard Morris almost appears to be coming out of Sid Caesar's rear end!

  • Originally telecast LIVE on September 20, 1952, 'Cadillac'.

  • A true classic !

  • This is a great episode but I dont want to watch it with the sound out of sync. It ruins the whole thing.

  • We've had perfect synch between audio and video for about 80 years. I think there's gonna be a generation of kids who grow up not knowing the joy of this. I can't enjoy this nearly as much. Is it a youtube problem?

  • It is a youtube problem.

    Sorry to impact your enjoyment.

  • This was b-4 my time (born in '71) but, the first time I saw it I was in tears laughing. The so-called comedians of today just don't have it.

  • Hilarious! I had forgotten that the great Louis Nye was also in this. Hi-ho, Steverino!

  • I remember my mom telling me how funny YSOS was, and it was long before my time. I didn't see this skit until about five years ago online. I almost HURT myself I was laughing so hard!

  • Is the sound out of sync with the picture here?

  • It sure is

  • Funniest skit I've ever seen. Thanks for posting !

  • WOW! This is an oldie, but a goodie. Uncle goofy is SO funny!

  • I am still holding my side, IT HURTS!!! I saw this the night it aired. My brother and i were rolling on the floor. My mother wanted to know what was wrong with us.

  • Everyone in that theater must have peed themselves. Great stuff!

  • I laughed until I cried. :D

  • An oldie but a goodie

  • great show i remember watching as a kid.

  • I've been waiting for someone to post this classic. It might have been the funniest sketch of 1950s-era TV.

  • Wow, it's hard to believe that a show like that is as old as it is. Sid Caesar is absolutely genius, and Howie Morris is almost incomparable as Uncle Goopy. I just laughed and cried. The Humor is just brilliant.

  • OMG! I first saw this sketch 10 years ago and I thought it was the funniest things I ever saw. Well it's 10 years later I'm still howling with laughter. Comedy like this certainly does stand the test of time! I absolutely love Howard Morris! Uncle Goopy and Ernest T. among many other very funny characters. Sid, Howie, Louie Nye, and Carl Reiner. These men are comic geniuses and to think they did this live! Great Stuff! Thanks for posting...and now it's on to the "3 Haircuts".

  • Hilarious! Fantastic! We adore you, Sid.

  • BRILLIANT!

  • Absolutely brilliant!! Iwatched it last night for the first time in years and then again just now. I laugh so much it hurts!!!

    BRILLIANT!!!!!

  • It's too bad most people just remember Howard Morris from the Andy Griffith show; he was a true comic genius. This was one of the funniest sketches in TV history.

  • @Mpoconnor7 Ernest T. Bass! Yes, he was so much more. I loved him on the Mary Tyler Moore Show.

  • Sid no doubt one of the funniest man ever to hit the TV screen. Great supporting cast.

  • This is just the greatest, one of the funniest sketches ever on tv.

  • I loved Howard Morris and was so saddened when we lost him. I'll never forget this sketch. Thanks for posting it. Long live Uncle Goopy!

  • Some of the funniest TV ever made. What a joy this is to watch!

  • That was hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing, thanks!

  • FANTASTIC!!! It's eternally funny!! When was this originally broadcast LIVE??

  • Thank you so much for posting this as you promised. This will always be my favorite Caesar skit!
