  • What Image And Movie Founded From? @charlie8321

  • i got a tivo at blockbuster it was 49 dollors. woah! that was a low price!!!

  • The cable version cost nothing up front?...We had five Time Warner Cable DVR's die in the last 2 years and every time we had to be pissed of by re programing the box. We now have 2 Tivo Premiere boxes in our house and they TOTALLY ROCK !!...For $140 it comes with a 3 year parts and labor warranty and they pay shipping. The monthly service is $13 a month...With all the great functions of the Tivo box we could care less if it dies in the next 3 years.

  • The best part about TiVo was that you could program from the internet. Comcast lets you do this now and the smartphone app makes it even better. Can't think of a reason to not only pay $200+ up front but also have an extra box with extra wires in my already full entertainment center. Go generic DVR!!

  • @lvlrSmooth Can it do season passes, wishlists, swivel searches, Netflix streaming, Amazon On Demand, YouTube streaming, internet radio? Can you control it with an iPad? Can you transfer recording between boxes(multi-room viewing)? Can you transfer shows to a computer(tivo desktop software)? The Tivo Premiere might not be revolutionary, but it still blows away any other DVR out there. Tivo praticaly invented the DVR. All the others are cheap imitations without half the features and ease of use.

  • @vio2112 *season passes - yup *wishlists - bell *swivel searches - whistle *Netflix - My Blu-ray(BD) does that *Amazon VOD - BD *YouTube - BD *Internet radio - BD *iPad Control - yup *Multi room - Bell *transfer to computer - whistle Sure, TiVo has more features. But is it really worth the cost for a box that will be quickly outdated (get the new cable box every year for free) and have an extra box in the home theater. Not worth it for me. Oh, and cable DVR is $10/month.
  • And my first DVR died at about 5 years, after the warranty was long expired. Tivo sold me a new replacement unit for about 1/4 of the original price. You can't beat that kind of service!!!!!

  • Oh, and did I mention I bought my Tivo NINE YEARS AGO? Tivo's decade-old technology blows the cable and sat provider's tech completely out of the water. So it costs a couple of hundred bucks for a Tivo, so what? If it's stable, reliable, easier to use, I will pay for it.

  • Cable and satellite providers do not "give" you a DVR. You have to pay a monthly fee to rent them. I've been without my tivo for about 2 years and this is what I found: I got a brand new, top of the line DVR from Dish and then moved and got a brand new, top of the line DVR from Comcast. Neither of these DVRs are nearly as easy to use as the Tivo. Neither of these DVRs are as reliable as Tivo. Both of these DVRs SUCK ROCKS compared to Tivo.

  • TiVo ftw

  • TiVo isn't available in Canadian Dollars, while Motorola is, smack down.

Mine doesn't have firewire, so I can't use the transfer hack, smack down by TiVo.

    lol

  • internet speed:39.5mbps that is avail.?

  • Tivo is cool and no doubt about that. I do think it is horribly over priced though. For now it does offer a lot of cool options but not quite sure if I would be using all of the perks all the time to justify the cost. It will only be a matter of time till the cable companies develop the same features for cheaper cost. As long as tivo can keep coming up with inventive ideas then they will have business.

  • But if all cable or satellite providers give you a DVR today, why buy something they will be charging a monthly basis?

  • TiVo is stupid, nobody even needs all that shit! It's like making an iPhone, it's pointless. Because everybody is gonna get the iPod Touch which is the exact same thing especially when you get phone capabilities on it which you don't have to pay for except a 1 time fee, no plan needed as far as I hear from people that have one, it's impressive how people make shit nobody needs and yet people shell out hundreds to get it when they can be shelling out 20's instead.

  • Sounds like someone can't afford a TiVo. Shame, it's really cool. I have two.

  • It's not that I can't afford it, it's that I know how to invest and save lots of money by having just a simple DVR that still makes you able to watch shows AND record them, oh how fun right? Plus, I only use it every other day and sometimes don't even use it on those days, I prefer to stay in shape as well thank you very much.

  • @haiglee more like your parents bought it for you

  • @Siagos You're an idiot. I'm 40, you moron.

  • @haiglee a 40 year old doesn't speak to a child that way

  • @Siagos You wouldn't think so, but here we are. I have a low threshold for dumb comments. Next time keep them to yourself. K?

  • @Zarek49 geeks do...

  • dvr all the way

  • can you rent a dvd and record it at the same time with tivo??

  • It's not a DVD player. TiVO is the original DVR. But you can watch Netfix through TiVo, anc record two different shos at the same time.

  • TiVO is the greatest invention ever !

  • dvr rocks hahaha

  • TiVo Rocks!
