  • Does anyone care if the baby's "having fun" with this? It's not swim lessons because swimming is fun, it's emergency survival training. If that baby falls in the water by accident, he won't drown.

  • Babies spend the first nine months of their life floating in fluid. Its natural for them. It all comes as instinct. It because we usually wait years so put kids in water that they forget how to swim. They know how to do this when they are borne! Stop freaking out.

  • I really wish we could figure out a way to see what babies are thinking.. Like this baby is probably thinking, "geese, at least take my clothes off"

it's awesome how quickly the baby turns on his back!

  • WTF!?!? sounds like that baby is chocking.. is that kid OKAY? LOL..

  • This is great stuff, I'm amazed at how he just seems to take it all in his stride.

  • so cute! and clever! looks like a sea otter :)

  • @ThePopeIsReptilian

dude... youre being ridiculous. i am a red cross wsi certified swim instructor, and i can assure you, this is not child cruelty. (im also a Christian, but lately ive been ashamed to call myself one because of bible thumpers like you.)

  • Is he doing sign language or just playing with the water?

  • this is great, but really scares the crap out of me watching it. Is it the same concept here as with a 2 year old?

  • i think this is genius. and for those saying that they don't like it cuz he's not smiling or is uncomfortable, well we all go through something we don't like but is important, that's just life. i'm sure he'll be grateful for the skills he learned that gave him the ability to have confidence while in the water and in himself and he'll smile then.

  • What a great video! I have a 10 month old baby girl and i am so scared to even leave our screen door open to even let the dogs in and out by the pool. She is beginning to walk and i would love for her to learn how to float and swim at such a young age as this. The Baby seems like he knows what he is doing and if God forbid something ever happened to him where he was near water supervised or not he knows what to do, another life saved!. Too many children die from drowning. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!

  • well..... this is how i feel.... Mason he's not smiling,,, so i don't think he likes it... he's murmring something, and his right hand signed for: help please, i d't like it.....but... i know parents are trying to teach them if they fall into the pool or something....just..... Mason seemed d't like it : ( n i wonder if that feeling will influence him after he grows up.... for he's not happy at the vid.

  • @taffetaice just because someones not smiling doesnt mean their not happy. especially nine month old babies. they usually only smile when their being tickled. "murmuring something"...babies make random sounds all the time. its not like he was screamig do you speak sign language? because last time i checked waving you hand gently does not mean help me please. i wish ppl would know what their talking about before they try to say something.

  • OMG! As soon as you let him go, he just KNEW to roll on his back and float!! That's amazing...my sister-in-law is gonna have a baby girl and i am so mentioning this to her. It was six months right? to start teaching them?

  • There is a better way, I remember in the day when children didn't cry. To learn to swim was much more fun. Their reaction was your reaction. Produce a program that takes Moms and Babies when bonding is the most important and lives are are important. Isnt that why Moms started this program?

  • That was awesome, nothing wrong with that child. He was not freaked out like some of the older children that I have seen on here. Younger is better!!!

  • it is not swimming. it is floating with its parent (probably) near by , in a real situation if you are irresponsible enough to let your baby go near the water and fall in,how long would it be before you notice the child is missing. will it float there on its own for however long it takes? no . eventually it will panic and drown.

parents should never use this rubbish as a safety net.

  • A baby getting to water doesn't have to be due to irresponsibility. I learned of a family that went camping. Father and son hiked and mother stayed with baby. She gave baby juice and without thinking, licked some off her hand. The juice contained grapes which she was highly allergic to and she died before father and son returned. If baby was mobile and got into water, knowing these skills he might have a chance to survive. Why not give him that chance? Seconds are often crucial to survival.

  • Lol, I don't know who disliked my comment, but that story was not something I made up out of the blue, it's a true story. And what is wrong with wanting to give a child a chance to survive in any circumstance? Explain what was wrong with my comment please.

  • @topliff12345 There are situations were parents could be incapacitated and that's all it takes. Some parents have seizure disorders. And other parents let babysitters watch the kids, and fear that while they are away it could possibly happen. And it only takes seconds for a baby to fall in. Blaming a mother for looking away for 10 seconds is a little over the top, especially if other kids are around. And I've seen a video where the baby floated for 10 minutes straight with ease.

  • get that baby out of the water hes going to drown

  • I am sorry but I am also a swimming teacher and I found horrible this video. You can see the baby is not comfortable and there is no praise to him. Once you pick him up you throw him again!!! Come and do some lessons with me and I will teach you how babies enjoy their lessons and learn lots of things!!!

  • @dorabcoelho if you were truly a swimming teacher would you understand the importance of being able to swim when your children are sometimes or always around water. and to be understanding "USUALLY" children cry when they are uncomfortable if you look at his face he looks pretty calm to me. A babies natural instincts are to be 'right side up'. And this is not swimming lessons..do you see freestyle or backstroke now?..this is survival lessons for infants!

  • @illegalz

Calm??!! If you look what he does with his right hand this is a signal that he wants someone to pick him. I understand that this is a survival lesson so, why did you title it as " Infant SWIM LESSON 11"? Why not Survival infant swim lesson? Anyway if you see a baby at this age swimming freestyle or backstroke you tell me because I wanna see too!!! We encorage then to kick, breath and turn but the most important for me is the SMILE!

  • 1 word: Spaz. Of course he's not completely comfortable 100% comfortable..but guess what he will not be...dead..from drowning...just cause you`re a swimming teacher doesn`t mean you`re qualified to teach a baby his age to do what he's doing...right now..and sorry...I`m a grown man, I know how to swim..I am not in need of lesson. Thanks anyways

  • Absolutely brilliant. Just think of all the heartache and needless drowning deaths that could be avoided if all children learned how to keep themselves afloat!

  • @jeninmaine but babies are born awful young, and forget by the time they're old, so why waste the money on lessons at that age unless you have a pool? i actually know a guy who used to know how to swim, but forgot.

  • m4c5w3d3n: CRUEL? I have a 3 month old son, and he's going to learn this if anyone teaches it here in Norway. We're already doing baby-swimming, and he loves it. We are made for the water!

What's cruel is to not ensure that your baby is safe in all surroundings. Of course most parents never let their babies and toddlers out of sight, but even the best parents in the world have accidents. Better safe than sorry.

  • ufff

  • thats just crule!

  • wow.. i kno this is the work of pro's but i gotta tell u i just felt like goin into that pool and takin that baby out of the water.. hehehe.. but i kno u teached him some really good survival skills =]

  • most of this is to teach a small child survival techniques , not just having them swim for fun.

  • thats amazing im 15 n i still dont no how to swim i think the goverment should make this compolsary

  • You know what, people! These babies enjoy this- doesn't that matter! I sure this is very soothing to them, so those against this type of activity, think of that! Plus, it could save their lives. To never acquire a fear of water is possibly life saving in itself. These little people are understanding they physics of water at a very early age so swimming is second nature in order to be extremely safe in the water for the rest of their lives.

  • thats great! i think the ppl who are dissing this video is just jealous b/c their kids were too dumb to learn how to swim at that age :)

  • wow!!! no comment

  • well i wanna ask u are u into coaching.....rply soon

  • whats the purpose of doin all this, i mean a kid this small dont know what swimming is and wont need it anyway,,,,during this point of time of course...............rply awaited.

  • Um... probably, so if he ever falls into a pool he wont die! Just maybe.

  • so tat if they ever falls into pool or water or sea, higher chance of survival..

  • The purpose is that in the event of a baby falling into a pool, that they are comfortable and don't panic, they roll over and relax and float until someone can get them out. When they get older they learn to swim to the edge. They are not teaching him to swim at this age, they teach survival methods in case he ever needs it. People have said that their baby had accidental falls into water and with this training they've been able to retain it and not drown, but roll over and float.

  • his a pro

  • it's so cute how he moves his hands. XD

  • every mothering-instinct I have would have me grabbing that baby out of that water so fast...

  • this baby loves the feeling of floating

  • so cute =)

  • oh God I will be scared to death to put my baby through this.

  • I know my girl is fifteen months and I'm not even letting her go near the pool!!!!!!

  • I think is good for the childrens to learn this, it may save their lifes

  • thats great that they teach them to swim fully clothed becasue thats how theyed fall in.

  • I think thats one of the cutest babies i've ever seen

  • WOW I WOULDNT LET MY NIECE NEAR THE PO0L

  • floating jacket?

  • GREAT JOB LITTLE MAN!!!!

  • great job!!!

  • oh what a sweet heart

  • I love the fact that its as real as possible with sleepers shoes clothes etc I am most amazed at the weight of that diaper doesnt pull him down ...incredible!!!!

  • Good boy!

  • Wow! This child is so calm! I'm absolutely amazed that he's not crying. Great job!

  • It would be better if he was crying so if this ever does happen, someone can hear him and take him out.
