In the town of Nawa, the district center, 37 shops were able to re open during Operation Khanjari, and still remain open. The locals love that the Marines are in this area. Now, you may ask how I know this. I rode in on the helicopters that dropped us in, I spent seven months fighting the Taliban there and working with the locals. Don't make assumtions about what you don't know
I certainly hope this is successful and improves the situation there in the long run. but all it takes is a few corrupt local politicians to undo all the hard work. It's a difficult country to govern.

Every soldier volunteered, and they know the risks. Most civilians don't really understand the military. The media can be negative all it wants, I don't pay attention to it, only to those who are actually there doing something. It is better to attempt to accomplish something and possibly fail, than to do nothing.

The truth is your soldiers are dieng for a lie! I have talked to German soldiers who went to Afghanistan and they told me this war is impossible to win. Afghanistan needs at least 100 years! The culture is to different. Most of American soldiers have a contract they make money. Thats why they go there! They would rather chill in the states than telling some people in the stoneage what is wrong and right! The German soldier told me he went there for money

I enjoyed the seven months I spent there (in Operation Khanjar mind you) we were in firefights rougly every week for that entire time. I didn't make enough money to make it worth it, but I would go back in a heartbeat, and I know that many of my brothers would as well.
