My brother said that, when he was in Iraq, a soldier rolled over in his sleep. He landed on his own gun and it set the gun off. He died from the wound.

It was an M-something. Not a 16 anymore, but there were people all over the place and this guy still died, most likely b/c he was hit in the wrong place.

Medics were already in the barracks, and that stuff they use, I think it's called Quik Clot, didn't even help.

I'm sure he was hit in the heart. The one place where time would be most critical.

There is no safety "pin" on a Dan Wesson 357. Newer revolvers have safety features to prevent the hammer from striking a primer in the forward position, but this is in case the weapon is dropped. In this case, the operator had to pull the trigger and manually ride the hammer forward with his thumb. He admitted in the video that the hammer slipped out of his thumb control. As a result, the cartridge fired as the weapon was designed to do.

Not sure why he was using hollowpoints for simple shooting practice, they should have had a target setup instead of just shooting a log. Anyways, this accident could have been prevented, it was negligence that caused it. The guy shoulda had both hearing and safety protection to begin with, remember the gun is ALWAYS LOADED. Using his finger to hold the hammer implys that he must have had his finger on the trigger. The gun is not the problem, but the uneducated person who was using it.
