Hello! I live in Concord, NH and am on the search for a great dane puppy! Just wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing where your adorable puppy came from?
Sorry, I did not respond earlier. I find Great Danes to be very easy to train. If you put the time, you will be amazed how loving they are, and smart. Also, I have females, and they maybe might be more loving, not sure. I do know they stick right to our yard boundries with little training.
Any dog will be aggresive without proper socialization. All the Great Dane's I've met have been friendly and loving goofs because they've been properly socialized since puppyhood with other dogs and people.
We now have two... we usually have two...actually. Don't like to have a lonely dog. We now have a 6 month old fawn Dane, Gracie, and the Blue Merle Dane in the video, Dinah.
I hope to get another video up soon. The older fawn Dane, Keela, is gone now, but we have a new fawn, Gracie. (she is 4.5 months). Danes are the BEST.
I took a rescue blue merle dane on earler this year. She is the best dog a person could wish for. no problem whatsoever and yet she was 8 months old when I got her but i was her third home i dont understand why she 100% perfect
We do not have children, they are suppose to be wonderful with children. Ours were a little skittish of kids, not being exposed every day to them, but quickly warmed up. I have heard many stories of kids riding their Danes. They do live up to their name "Gentle Giants" in our house. They are not the type of dog to snap. (as a puppy though, they might want to nibble.)
Thanks for your reply. you have cleared all my doubts. And also, personally I feel that tou people must be wonderful persons, because a person who loves animals alone can be fit to be called as a real and gentle human being. thanks for your reply once again,
You couldn't ask for a gentler dog! Our dane is rarely around kids, but even being unfamiliar with them he's still a big baby and lets them pet him and give him kisses and tug at his ears! The only thing is they aren't aware of their size and their tail smacking everything in its path!
I so agree with the tail... front end is gentle, back end is clearing the coffee table, the kitchen table... knocking glasses off... And then when they get too excited, they smash open their tail on the wall, and it bleeds everywhere... They keep wagging...and the blood is on the walls...and ceiling.
ya totally. that is not just a dane thing tho. my ~13 year old mixed breed 40 p0und dog still breaks her tail open sometimes, usually when she sees someone come home that has been away for a few weeks.
I love your Danes! My boyfriend and I have one as well. I wanted to ask you a few questions however if you have the time. He is our first Dane and we rescued him from a shelter. They weren't sure of his age and all, but we think he is around 8 months now. WE got him when he was about 23 lbs. If you wouldn't mind, I could send you a recent picture. Thanks for your time!
I really do think that Boxers and Great Danes look so much better when their ears are not cropped. They look so much cuter that way, so why do people do it? Your dogs are so adorable by the way. I think a Great Dane would be too big for me though.
I guess cropping of the ears is just tradition. I DO understand the cropping of the tail, you have to see a man in the house get hit by one of those tails in the crotch. Also, when the dogs get real excited, they wag their tales into the wall and sometimes it is so hard, they smash the tail open and it bleeds everywhere.
At any rate, I would not do either to a dogs, I love the way they are born naturally. Thanks for your comment.
Thank you so much! In the '60's. my parents were Moridane kennels. They never showed, but they bred champions. They then moved on to Yorkies, and our first Dane bitch (Lady, I named her, only five years old and already a victim of Disney marketing), and our Dane completely tried to nurse the Yorkie puppies - hilarious! So if dogs can do it, people should be able to get along as well.
Thank you for your comment. These dogs are the BEST.
If anyone in NE has some Great Dane Puppies coming soon, please email me. We do not require show quality, just want a dog to spoil and have lots of fun with. THanks.
good looking danes. we have two. a lightly marked female mantle that is almost 8 months old and a male harliquin that is 8 weeks old. its true they are the gentle giants. and theres never a dull moment with them. i have a lot of videos of them playing if you ever want to look. thanks for sharing
YES! Kudos for NOT cropping! I have 2 myself. Your vid reminded me of mine. I have 2 boys....1 is a year old, the other just 4 months =) Many of your scenes were right out of MY household (ha-ha) =)

Thank you for not having the ears cropped. It is lovely to see dogs grow up. We have one harlequin Great Dane mix. She is on my video called >Samantha<.
love your dogs its so funny i have a female merle and a male fawn too. they are the best friends to have.sorry to hear about your golden. im goin to put a video or slide show of my 2 soon.
They do, but nothing like a golden retriever or other longer hair dog. Their hair is very short. They are wonderful loving creatures. If you are thinking of getting one, I highly recommend it.

Thanks, the golden is now departed, but the danes are so much a part of our life. They are such gentle loving dogs. Can't have a bad day at work and not come home to them and smile.

My Mum's Dane was 1 year old when i was born, and we got on brilliantly!
I have never ever met a nasty great dane, ppl just assume they would be because of the size!
I used to dress mine up in sunglasses and bandages, n she would just let me get on with it, she would pull our sledge and put up with anything!
Your baby will have nothing but good memories of a Dane if you end up getting one! x

Keela, the fawn Dane, is no longer with us. (4/18/2007)
She had a large tumor on her spine.
The staff and Doctors at Tufts University were awesome in taking care of her.
She was the finest dog I ever met.
karinCV 4 years ago
My dane girl had a tumor on her hind leg, it was so hard to put her down, she was so smart and motherly, they're like people...

The speckled one, is she a Harlequin Grate Dane? She is the cutest, lol.
TheRealXylona 4 years ago
She, Dinah, is what they call a blue merle. We saw the puppies that color, had planned on getting another fawn, but had to get her. Thanks.

I somehow thought she was something other than a Harlequin, I think she is awesome, thanks for letting me know what kind she is. Xylona
