I have tips of my own. Considering you recommended Gabranth originally, i recommend another mix : Ultima Weapon - This is very useful - if you are masterful enough to keep your HP intact. Exp to HP should help solve the problem. The other pieces of amour will be the Blessed Crystal set. You see, if you get into EX mode earlier, you have more chance to BREAK. Also, take note, do NOT relent when you get him to 1HP after attacking with 9999 Bravery. That's when Tonberry summon kicks in.
I say the Crystal set - just to be clear - for it's EX Force and Core absorption bonuses.
Good luck to anyone else. Meanwhile, luck is not on my side and even though i defeat him easily, i still have yet to get my Chaos Blade. Will now try the Thief Glove recommendation.
@zigbar205 Well it's bassically my accessories that causes the good absorption. But gabranths power seriously increases during his EX mode so it's a nice extra.

very nice i didnt get my english version yet but im starting to learn gabranth and this was helpful as i didntk now he was good for Ex absrb
