Agents can certainly request individuals turn off their vehicle or exit it but they can't compel in the absence of consent or probable cause ff2paladin. SCOTUS made that clear when they allowed suspicionless checkpoints under the condition that any further detention or searching be premised on consent or probable cause.
Why you ask? Because these checkpoints only stand up to Constitutional scrutiny when they are minimally intrusive. Being forced out of your vehicle is not minimally intrusive.

I would of booked the cameraman for impeding in a police investigation. You ran a checkpoint when you were told to go to secondary. Normally it would be between 20-25 meters from the actual point of contact with the border. Agents can certainly request individuals turn off their vehicle or exit it but they can't compel in the absence of consent or probable cause ff2paladin. SCOTUS made that clear when they allowed suspicionless checkpoints under the condition that any further detention or searching be premised on consent or probable cause.
Why you ask? Because these checkpoints only stand up to Constitutional scrutiny when they are minimally intrusive. Being forced out of your vehicle is not minimally intrusive.

I have to give this officer much respect. Even though this guy is giving this Border Patrol Officer a hard time doing this job, this officer kept his cool the whole time. Based on what the officer said, he does have probable cause to conduct a check on this individual. If this guy had nothing to hide in regards to violation to the law, then he should have cooperated. Normally it would be between 20-25 meters from the actual point of contact with the border. If they actually did every security check excatly on the borderline then the flow of traffic will be impeded the flow of traffic.

If the proper legislation was present, these officers wouldn't need to ask for the right to search the vehicle.
