@ThenextManning13 ya well from experience i dont mind them fining people who tackle leading with their helmets cause that is just straight up dangerous and the person doing the tackling has no good intentions, why do you want people becoming paralyzed or dieing, just so u can have a tiny bit of entertainment? it really tells alot about who you are
@Moonbadgers Did i say i like seeing people get paralyzed? no so stfu. and about the hit.. football is a contact sport you are going to get hit yes sometimes people get injured or even paralyzed but thats part of the sport... and to tell you the truth John lynch had 15 concussions in his career so i think it hurt him more than chris henry( god rest his soul..) so why dont you actully do some research or even have some damn common since before you talk about people you dont know
This is NFL football at its finest. The same sport we had years ago without hard helmets, facemask, illegal hits, illegal collar tackles, roughing the passer/kicker. It keeps them safe yes, and i agree with unnecessary roughness. But how many people died as a result of a football hit. not many. Its now ALL ABOUT MONEY! How bout each player signs for the same amount of cash, plays where hes put. Goes out in front of any John Lynch, or any other powerhouse hitters and plays as hard as they can!
@whitehomie22 You wish he never lived, why because he is so tough? Strong? Please tell me? What about Lambert and the steel curtain? Ray Nitschke? big Lawrence Taylor, or one of the hardest, dick butkis. Laugh at his name and cry in his face! Look up "earl campbell's headbutt" Thats a running back BTW who gives concusions while hes got the Ball. Or, just stop watching contact sports period!
@ytn0mn3b No, that's actually not correct. Intentionally leading with the helmet is a penalty, in this case his helmet was just down because he was ducking down to hit Dante. He actually lead with his shoulder, and this wouldn't be a flag in today's game either, very clean hit. They are just flagging guys who intentionally lead with their helmet as a weapon, and the drama surrounding that is way overblown. We still have PLENTY of clean, amazing hits in today's game. Just less concussions
@crx122 I was a fan of Lynch until he started dishing out cheapshots like this all the time to cover up his declining abilities. At the time it should have been unnecessary roughness. The ball was clearly overthrown and the receiver was slowing up because there was no play on the ball and he is leading with his helmet. He was also fined for leading with his helmet by the NFL after the game for this hit and Im pretty sure 2 more times that season.
@prescotian1500 In that case you're very unfairly stereotyping Lynch though. The MENTAL aspect of hard hits is far greater than the physical aspect, they don't care about looking like a badass, they want to send fear to the defense. As Tatum once said "he can't be concentrating on me and the ball at the same time." MANY players do far worse things, Hines Ward for example, even did as horrible as to break a guy's jaw from a VERY CHEAP blindside block, and the guy wasn't involved in the play...
@prescotian1500 Oh and one more thing, defense is unfairly targeted. They are all out to protect offensive players, they don't give two shits about defensive players. Just because they are known to deal out punishment doesn't mean offense can't cheap shot them too. If a defender leads with his helmet, huge penalty, huge fine. When have you see Adrian Peterson flagged or fined for leading with the helmet? He launches with his helmet like it is a missle, he gets away with it though?
@crx122 I am not disagreeing with you that defense is unfairly targeted, but that doesn't change the fact that this is a cheapshot and Lynch was leading with his helmet. Hines Ward should be fined for his dirty blocking in almost every game he plays. The problem I have with bringing up Jack Tatum, is he is most of the reason the unecessary roughness penalty was created. He had more cheapshot hits in one game than they allow in a whole season now.
@prescotian1500 Tatum didn't have a big impact on the new unnecessary roughness rules, he was very moderate compared to guys like Mel Blount and George Atkinson. The entire rule that you can only jam within 5 yards was created because of Blount mugging people down the field, he picked up Cliff Branch and slammed him on his head. Atkinson twice knocked out Lynn Swann on closelines when Swann wasn't looking, and he wasn't even involved in the play. Tatum was not the dirtiest/most physical.
I dont give a shit how hard NFL players get hit. They know these guys want to kill them. And so what if they get hurt? You have enough money to pay a medical bill.
@texmexman1 safety come first for the players but I agree with you cuz some of the hits that are hard are legal but the players still get fined anyways which is a sack of shit
How was that a cheapshot? He led with his shoulder rather than his head. And it didn't seem to be too late... of course the whole play wasn't played. Idk.
@prescotian1500 go fuck yourself you pussy you dont know shit about football if you think thats a cheepshot its called a good hit so go blow yourself and take your stupid ass opinions elsewhere
you notice didnt even have the ball..lynch was burned so he cheap shot Dante...if he as any good he would have denied the ball to Dante, not hit him after the pass was dropped
It's terrible that hits like this are illegal now. Wide receivers are no longer scared to go across the middle because they know the safety can't light him up. It's sad and makes the NFL far less exciting. Not to sound barbaric, but this is Football, a contact sport and there is nothing wrong with a nice clean hard hit. Concussions are going to happen. A clean hit should not be penalized for being too hard of a hit. The safety's job is to not let him catch the ball.
@natek212 haha you're fucking blind if you think this is a legal hit. I'm all for hard hits and big hits, but you can literally could 5 seconds before Lynch hits him. Be different if the ball was in Dante Halls arm length but it wasn't even close to a catch.
@ChiefsBulls587 If lynch wasn't there about to hit him he probably would've caught the ball. The fear of the hit caused him to hesitate. The NFL no longer has that fear because of fines and penalties. Also, you need to go back to first grade if you think you can count 5 seconds there.
@ChiefsBulls587 Dumb ass, this is obviously legal, based on the fact that this is in slow motion. In real time Hall was just beginning to slow down and John lynch was at a full sprint. Also when you're in the intensity of the game and you're a safety and you see a receiver running across middle field you can't tell where the ball is going to come into play. The slow fuckin motion makes it look as if its late as hell but if you had any common sense you would realize that in real speed it legal
@Voxh24 lol, too bad it was called as a late hit on the field... Refs called it illegal thus it went down in the books as illegal, thus I'm right, and you're wrong. So take that dick out your ass and accept it. Faggot.

I want a new NFL commisioner now, Goodell is destroying this game year after year with more new rules against defenses and now basically eliminating any big hits from the game. Every player now looks like they're pulling up on some hits that only a few years back they could.
@Broncos88surehands they don't give fines based on position. just because john lynch is a safety does not mean he would not get fined for a helmet to helmet hit.
Brandon Meriweather (Patriots' safety) was fined $50,000 this season
@Allah65456 you cant compare then and now, before it was a game of hitters..tatum, lott, taylor, atwater but now you have db's like bailey, reed and palamalu...game has changed for the better? that remains to be seen. peace
Good thing because you could clearly see Lynch lunging at Dante Hall AFTER the pass had been overthrown. The smart thing to do would have been to dodge out of the way instead of purposely going at him full force following the missed catch.
In case there's any doubt, ex 49ers/Broncos defensive lineman Bill Romanowski was infamous for deliberately hitting receivers after they had dropped or missed a pass, and rarely got called for it. During a game against the Chiefs several years ago, he actually went up to the Chiefs' sideline after making a tackle and was talking all kinds of trash to them and shoving them around. The moment a Chiefs' player retaliated, a whistle was blown. Talk about favoritism.
wow, he hits a 100 pound rec. when he's not even able to protect himself. those hits are the omes the qb gets his rec. killed cause hes defenseless. so that hit wasnt all that.
If you keep clicking where the 1 second mark is... you can tell Lynch had taken a step AFTER it was obvious D. Hall didn't catch the pass. Then took another step to lay him out.
@Learn4rmLifesLessons That kind of a threat is a major part of the T2 that Lynch excelled in. The T2 doesn't do a good job of stopping those over the middle completions other than drilling the guy and either making him drop it. It also makes guys so fearful that they will defend themselves rather than make the catch.
It was a clean hit all around john lynch job is to make sure that he does not make that play. If you remeber last year The broncos won of a tip ball from a Bengals CB and brandon Stokley took it all the way in the end to win it. So lynch was doing the right thing. He is not a bitch and will not let a play be made by the offense. And that is the Deffence's job.
Yeah, Look at the size comparison between the two though--- honestly just a mad bronco's fan showing the littlest guy on KC team who was whoopin' there ass get hit by a dude much bigger then him just to seem like hes good.
You guys are ridiculous. In today's game that would be an "defensive player foul" regardless of where it hit Lynch. The hit looks awesome, but it was definitely not a completely legit play. It doesn't take a bad ass to hit a defenseless player.
That was kind of cheep for john to do but i have all the respect in the world for him as a player he is one of the best and he is a hall of famer like him or not!!
You do understand that you're watching this in SLOW motion? How can you hold back when you are already on your way to moment of impact? Maybe it looks like he has time to ponder the situation, but he doesn't. It's not humanly possible to react that fast. It is football, it's a little violent when two opposing forces collide.
If you watch it a couple time, you can see that Lynch was loading up and taking at least one full step after it was obvious that Hall hadn't made the catch. When I chased QB's (albeit in HS & JC), I was able to pull up in the amount of time/space John had here. I think a lot of players know when they're in that "grey area" regarding late hit flags and that they push the limits as far as they can. IMO, it's kind of like running a yellow light, when you know you easily stop.
i kinda agree...that was nothing but a cheap shot...he saw he did not catch it...you should try and hold back a little...its why u get these guys hurt and they only play in the league for a few years.
A player may not be able to stop, but he can still turn or otherwise avoid someone. These guys are world class athletes and this should be well within their abilities. Lynch had at least one full step but, instead of laying off, he loaded up and drove through his opponent. Do you honestly think he would have blasted one of his team mates, in that situation, if they'd gotten in the way?
lol you have obviously never been in that position before, dude you're never gonna not want to hit the guy, you don't get those chances too often, and knocking the fuck out of someone like that is one hell of a feeling
That which may be "obvious" to you, is not, necessarily the same as that which is true or factual. I have, in fact, been in that position before, albeit many years ago. I have stuck the sh*t out of people and even split my helmet covering a kickoff, I also, however, played with enough self control to pull up and lay off an opponent, after chasing him with everything I had. A QB once threw the ball about a step and a half before I could get to him, so I avoided the collision.

The hit in this vid was late but, I do agree. The NFL is becoming to soft.

I want a new NFL commisioner now, Goodell is destroying this game year after year with more new rules against defenses and now basically eliminating any big hits from the game. Every player now looks like they're pulling up on some hits that only a few years back they could.

thats a $75,000 fine in the nfl now. hard hitting safeties are a dying breed

@Allah65456
No they're all linebackers
Broncos88surehands 1 year ago

Rawk4Life 6 months ago
In case there's any doubt, ex 49ers/Broncos defensive lineman Bill Romanowski was infamous for deliberately hitting receivers after they had dropped or missed a pass, and rarely got called for it. During a game against the Chiefs several years ago, he actually went up to the Chiefs' sideline after making a tackle and was talking all kinds of trash to them and shoving them around. The moment a Chiefs' player retaliated, a whistle was blown. Talk about favoritism.
Rawk4Life 6 months ago
@Allah65456 Actually that was 100% clean, no helmet to helmet at all. Just like Rahim Moore's hit on a certain Bill.

smokydrft2 1 year ago
wow, he hits a 100 pound rec. when he's not even able to protect himself. those hits are the omes the qb gets his rec. killed cause hes defenseless. so that hit wasnt all that.
melbz1266 1 year ago
If you keep clicking where the 1 second mark is... you can tell Lynch had taken a step AFTER it was obvious D. Hall didn't catch the pass. Then took another step to lay him out.
09164 1 year ago
@Learn4rmLifesLessons That kind of a threat is a major part of the T2 that Lynch excelled in. The T2 doesn't do a good job of stopping those over the middle completions other than drilling the guy and either making him drop it. It also makes guys so fearful that they will defend themselves rather than make the catch.

this is why hall shoulda jus stuck 2 kick returnin

It was a clean hit all around john lynch job is to make sure that he does not make that play. If you remeber last year The broncos won of a tip ball from a Bengals CB and brandon Stokley took it all the way in the end to win it. So lynch was doing the right thing. He is not a bitch and will not let a play be made by the offense. And that is the Deffence's job.

john lynch is my favorite safety and here he showed his strength although it was a cheap shot and just jacked up

TheJDB1993 1 year ago
You guys are ridiculous. In today's game that would be an "defensive player foul" regardless of where it hit Lynch. The hit looks awesome, but it was definitely not a completely legit play. It doesn't take a bad ass to hit a defenseless player.

thats bullshit the ball had hit the ground the play was over ... but whatever hes huge beast cause he can hit sombody who wasnt expecting a late hit

wasn't lynch charged a penalty for this play? i remember watching it and i think unnecessary roughness was called on him.
basstrebleclef 2 years ago
@basstrebleclef ya they called helmet to helmet but in the replay it shows him hitting with his shoulder
bosshoss6515 2 years ago
You do understand that you're watching this in SLOW motion? How can you hold back when you are already on your way to moment of impact? Maybe it looks like he has time to ponder the situation, but he doesn't. It's not humanly possible to react that fast. It is football, it's a little violent when two opposing forces collide.
exprez1022 2 years ago 3
If you watch it a couple time, you can see that Lynch was loading up and taking at least one full step after it was obvious that Hall hadn't made the catch. When I chased QB's (albeit in HS & JC), I was able to pull up in the amount of time/space John had here. I think a lot of players know when they're in that "grey area" regarding late hit flags and that they push the limits as far as they can. IMO, it's kind of like running a yellow light, when you know you easily stop.
Rennpanzer 2 years ago 3
i kinda agree...that was nothing but a cheap shot...he saw he did not catch it...you should try and hold back a little...its why u get these guys hurt and they only play in the league for a few years.
pro1tein 2 years ago
u cant just stop are u dumb ur running as fast as u can a with a shit load of momentom behind u its hard to stop
xHxViiRuZzxHx 2 years ago
A player may not be able to stop, but he can still turn or otherwise avoid someone. These guys are world class athletes and this should be well within their abilities. Lynch had at least one full step but, instead of laying off, he loaded up and drove through his opponent. Do you honestly think he would have blasted one of his team mates, in that situation, if they'd gotten in the way?
Rennpanzer 2 years ago 4
lol you have obviously never been in that position before, dude you're never gonna not want to hit the guy, you don't get those chances too often, and knocking the fuck out of someone like that is one hell of a feeling
Archiethebear2791 2 years ago
That which may be "obvious" to you, is not, necessarily the same as that which is true or factual. I have, in fact, been in that position before, albeit many years ago. I have stuck the sh*t out of people and even split my helmet covering a kickoff, I also, however, played with enough self control to pull up and lay off an opponent, after chasing him with everything I had. A QB once threw the ball about a step and a half before I could get to him, so I avoided the collision.

BULLSHIT! haha
