My father used to sign autographs as Steve McQueen. Not because he wanted to but because people would hound him till he did. I Always thought Steve was the coolest man on the silver screen.
He was definitely cool in "Bullit" , the "Sand Pebbles" seemed to mirror his tough survivor personality; really good performance. But "Papillon" always impressed me as a movie where he proved he could play with great range. I was very surprised he didn't win Best actor Oscar for that one.
Steve McQueen is my cousin! Never met him, never will sadly. But thank you. My grandparents say he was a great man. And by looking at your comments I see he really is. I am sure he appreciates all of his fancs.
@redhotmountie -I SAW STEVE IN THE MOVIE THEATRE IN 1970 AS AN 8 YR OLD AND IF HE HAD NOT DONE HIS GREAT STUNTS AND PERSONA-I WOULD HAVE NEVER LEARNED TO A BIKER OR DRIVE WORTH A DAMN!!!HE DIED WHEN I GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL AND IT NEVER PHASED ME WHEN HE DIED UNTIL I REALIZED "WHO" HE WAS TO ALL THE ACTORS AND HOLLYWOOD AND HIS FANS....STEVE AINT DEAD TO THE NOBLE DEEDS HE PORTRAED AND THE MAN HE WAS!!ALL THOSE MOVIES ARE STILL TEACHING THE MCQUEEN RULE OF LIVE LONG -DRIVE HARD-LOVE LIFE!!!!
Man everytime I see this video, I believe I feel so good inside listen to this nice music masterpiece. and as well have its own sense around the cool actor.
McQueens short-cut to star success was unquestionably the gay casting couch. His pedastry on the "Magnificent Seven" set alone, is something of Hollywood legend. He remains today an enduring icon for 'cool' Metrosexual males imprisoned in the barbed wire of their own ambivalent masculinity.
Papillon is a great movie, but I like the character he portrayed in The Cincinnati Kid, and perhaps my favorite, the Getaway, with Ali McGraw playing opposite him. All action, no bs.
Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that is almost always caused by exposure to asbestos. Maybe it was from all the sets he worked on. Back then asbestos was widely used in construction.
mesothelioma isn't lung cancer. it's cancer of the mesothelium... which, basically, is a protective outer lining that covers all the body's organs. because asbestos particles are inhaled one of the most common sites for mesothelioma is the pleura (outer lining of the lungs) it can also occur however in the peritoneum aswell as the pericardium... lung cancer, on the otherhand, is abnormal cell growth of lung tissue. they are NOT one in the same
LOL Blankfrack if you look at the post above mine you may suss out that I was replying to Lardyass's rather negative comment....hope that explains my comment.....mmmmmmmmm
That was NOT me posting That crap above. It was the lame assed Lardass56, using the screen name 'Blanckfrack.' Read the spelling of the name carefully.
