  • im looking forward to playing all the final fantasies again on teh emulators.

  • Hey can you do a screenshot of your config? The one you gave last time is now a dead link.

  • Me puedes pasar una copia del juego??

O al menos decirme el link de descarga??

    Responde porfavor.

  • You'r using normal mode?! nice

  • @member186 What do you mean by normal mode? If you're referring to the resolution i play in 1920x1080 at 5 times ps2 res, but had to reduce it for fraps recording.

  • @utubeisso1337 You are aware there is turbo and normal mode on pcsx2 right?

  • @member186 No but thanks for telling me! how do I use turbo mode? :p

  • @utubeisso1337 Hold tab down for couple of seconds the limiter should change to turbo from normal and your fps will gradually raise. You can see the stats at the top of your pcsx2 game window :3

  • @member186 Haha thx never knew about that! Just tested on star wars 3 and it is so funny! Great if you want to get to places quickly, and the game's voices are hilarious! Just in case it actually increases other factors, I left it using the normal speed (60FPS) by setting the turbo framerate to 100% instead of 200%. Thanks very much though for introducing me to it, but most of my games run at full speed anyway. I'll use it for the ones which don't!

  • @member186 Also if it's any help just pressing tab will do the trick as well.

  • @utubeisso1337 just saying i dont beleve fraps was what was slowing your down a 4 core 3.0 ghz proccessor should be far more than nessicary as the ps2 emulators usally only use 2 maybe 3 cores so fraps couldve easily run on the remaining cores i honestlybeleve since you were using 3 times native resolution that your video card was bottlenecking a 9800 is roughly a gtx 260 which isnt super powerful back then 460s were available i beleve and that wouldve easily run it

  • @poplepo3 Yeah at the time I made this video my rig wasn't very powerful, but now I can easily record and play at full speed :) So my graphics card is good enough for now

  • i think u have a sound decal

  • @Taoufik090 Yeh i probably did but I just upgraded my rig on my birthday :D got a quad core and 8gb of ram with a new motherboard, pcsx2 works flawlessly now ^^ so happy

  • @utubeisso1337 grrr! lucky you :D..i am still on ths fucking retard 512 mo ram/Pentium IV 3.00 ghz :(

  • @Taoufik090 Oh this video was from ages ago! Just built a super computer in a brand new case now! For Pcsx2 emulation however you just need a decent graphics card (like my current geforce 9800GT, but even the 8600's will do) and ram (probably 2-4gb). Anyway my new rig specs is now in the info box for this video, if you're interested :)

  • @utubeisso1337 maan....i am jealous!!

  • see it give the same audio problems as i get

  • Nice one, where did you download the game from and what sort of graphics card do you need?

  • @ThriceDog ...and also Marcus Fenix from Gears of war

  • Can you upload the files for us, or give links? :P thanks. >.<

  • BEAST computer

  • @NightLordq Thx :D

  • Your face when Wakka is the guy that also voices Bender.

  • @ThriceDog and kimarhi too!

  • I've got an Intel Q6600 2.4Ghz, 4GB RAM, and an Nvidia GTX260. I figure I should easily be able to get a constant 60FPS, but during cut scenes, it slows down to sometimes around 40-50FPS. The audio slows down with the video. Not the end of the world, but the slow audio drives me crazy.

Actually playing the game, it's usually 60FPS.

Any tips or ideas on how I could get it from 90% to 100%?

  • @Lisdop Well the most obvious change would be to put all the speedhacks on full (Found in Config>Emulation Settings>Speedhacks tab). If that doesn't work, another fix i usually use is to change all the EE and VU settings to low (Also in Emulation Settings on the EE/IOP and VUs tab). Just change round mode and clamping mode to none for both of them, which gives a slight speed boost.

Let me know if all that doesn't work, there's a few other things we can try too :)

  • @utubeisso1337 Thanks so much for your reply! I'm not sure how to set EE and VU settings to "low". Maybe my version doesn't have that? I'm using PCX2 0.9.6. One suggestion from another video which has worked, was to set the per pixel shader to 3.0, check on Log Z, and Alpha Correction. These two things have increased the overall speed to maybe 95% (average of 50FPS during cut scenes). It seems to work on 2X speed hack. If I pick 3x, the audio massively skips.

  • @Lisdop Oh sorry i meant low for both of them, it's the selection at the bottom of each tab. Anyway try different sound plugins with 3x speedhack, i'm running on 3x with SPU2-X. Also you should get the latest version from their site, then let me know how that goes.

  • @utubeisso1337 I tried all that, but it seemed to run slower, and the audio skipped horribly. I went back to PCX2 0.9.6, used 1.5X EE speed hack, in addition to "none" for clamping and rounding. This in combination with the settings I had before seems to get it running consistently at at least 45 FPS, and no audio skipping at all. I'd say it's basically at about 95% running smoothly now, which is probably the best it'll ever get.

I'm eventually going to do the hard drive mod for my real PS2.

  • @Lisdop Hm well if all those combinations don't work I don't know what else to suggest, because I agree your hardware should be able to run this quite easily. Are you running on windows xp or vista/7? On vista/7 you get directx 11 and various other improvements that could help.

  • @Lisdop processor is most likely your problem.

I don't think they've made PCSX2 support quad cores yet so essentially it becomes a dual core at 2.4ghz which when it comes to emulating code isn't alot.

but your frame rates sound playable to me :)

  • @Skankyandy Ah, that's probably it. I tried 3DMark (or maybe it was PCMark) and actually got FAR LOWER score than expected. It looked like it only treated my PC as a single core 2.4GHz.

At any rate, yeah, the game is definitely playable. I'm just being a frame rate nazi ;-)

I got it up to about 85-95+% consistently now, so that'll do.

  • @DannuxD god I love when people post shit computers and ask if it will work

  • where can i download psx FFX? i have the pcsx2 already.

  • @DannuxD your hardware specs all seem fine except for the graphics card. i used to have a geforce 7600 and even that could barely run pcsx2, but the 9800 like i have now should only be a few hundred dollars or there's better ones out for a bit more. So yeh just your graphics card & the rest seems fine :)

  • I'm getting a dell with an i7 processor and Ndvidia 2gb card, I wonder how good I'll be able it run it on there.

  • gahhh! that song! ffx has like 10 songs that just give me goosebumps everytime i hear them. why cant they make another GOOD final fantasy?... seems like this was the last good one.

  • @bboybacnis yeh i know how you feel! I loved this game, they shouldn't have made X-II imo because it's such a great end to this game to leave you wondering :)

  • Hey I need your help. Here's my system

CPU: Intel Premium Dual CPU E2180 2.00GHz 2.02GHz, 0.99 GB of RAM

    Audio: Realtek HD Audio 5.1

    OS: Windows XP

    Video: Only the built-in

I know I have a poor computer but I really want to play this game. I tried it and run it with 30-40fps(is that fine?). But their voices are like a robot, probably because it is slow motion a little bit. Any suggestion?

  • @KevinPaul06 that's pretty good for only built-in video, but if you wanna keep up with gaming stuff you definately need an actual video card. You can get ones suitable for pcsx2 now for a few hundred and they're heaps worth it :)

About their voices sounding like robots, this is because 40fps is 2 thirds of the game speed (60 fps). you could use a different sound plugin like i used to, which plays the sounds at full speed and you just wait for the animations to stop

    I suggest P.E.O.P.S plugin

  • I have AMD X2 and it runs at 10 FPS

  • @Leosivilla

make sure all the speed hacks are on full, and the top options are selected on EE and VU settings. if that doesn't work, your computer probly doesn't have the minimum requirements unfortunately.

You'll get it working eventually though :)

  • @utubeisso1337

Okay, well, what you told me too didn't work at all. I changed my options though , and now everything works full speed, UNTIL the game has to have moving models. Menus work at 60 FPS and PAUSED scenes work at 60FPS, but if I unpause or enter gameplay, goes at 15-40 fps (which is a good change. It used to be 15-20), but it's not fantastic. I have EE/IOP on recompiler, Chop/zero, none, and both options checked. VU on superVU and other options are the same as EE.

  • @utubeisso1337 Speed hacks have the first on 3 and the second on 0.5.

The first 2 checks are checked for both. I'm playing FFX International btw. The Framerate mostly stays at 20-30 though.

  • @Leosivilla

u should have speed hacks on full. trust me, it makes a huge difference :) if not it may be time to upgrade ur computer..

    good luck

  • @utubeisso1337 The speed hacks make it slower, but maybe it's just me.

  • @tk0192

Well that's wierd, I guess your computer isn't powerful enough to increase the game's speed then. This emulator is very demanding in terms of hardware, so unfortunately you need a pretty good computer to run it.

sorry, but i dont have any other ideas..

  • @utubeisso1337 I mean without the speed hacks, it runs at 50-60 fps in battles and can go a lot faster out but with speed hacks it slows down a bit.

  • @tk0192

yeh best to have them off yet. It would make sense because if your computer isnt powerful enough to make the game go faster, then it seems that results in an inverse effect slowing the game down.

  • @utubeisso1337 Ahh I see now. Thanks!

  • What bios or plugins do i need to play ps2 discs on my pcsx2 emulator?

  • @MajorKirin

In the section where you choose plugins, choose the "CDVD Gigahertz" plugin, then go to configure>cdvd and select your dvd drive (It should be a dvd drive, not sure if cd drives allow ps2 discs). You should now be able to go to system>Boot CDVD and your game will start up.

Be mindful though that reading off the actual disc results in slow gameplay, i would suggest converting it to an "Iso", using "Linuz iso creator".

Please ask me for any other information :)

    Glad to be of help.

  • How can i run pcsx2 faster for ffx? I have pcsx2 0.9.6 and i have got the game running but either very slow or missing details/flickering. The game drops runs at 50 or 60 fps and then drops to about 20 and sometimes 5fps which sucks. Here's my specs: AMD Turion X2 64 RM-74 2.2GHz ATI Radeon HD3200 500GB HDD 4GB RAM Ive tried a few speed hacks but not much luck. Is there a certain plugin and configuration setting suited to getting the most outta my machine? Please help if you can
  • @rentaraman

ok here is all of my config:

    darkquake[dot]com/config.png

    darkquake[dot]com/configb.png

    darkquake[dot]com/configc.png

Try all of those settings, and if that doesnt work then theres not much else i can sugggest.

anyway these are the settings that work best for me, experiment yourself but with all speedhacks enabled it makes a huge difference.

    good luck!

  • @utubeisso1337

which version of pcsx2 are u using btw? I got the game running on 0.9.6 but very slowly and now im trying to run it on the 0.9.7.3113 (svn) but when i try running it says: CDVD plugin failed to open your computer may have insufficient resources, or incompatible hardoware/drivers

Ahh am I just being a fool? (Dont answer that)

  • @rentaraman

yeah im using that exact version. when it says cdvd plugin failed to open then you gotta make sure you're using the "linuz iso" plugin as shown here:

    darkquake[dot]com/configd.png

after that, go to CDVD > Iso Selector > Browse and choose your game's iso file. To make an iso file from your game, use LCIsoCreator available for download here:

    lucersoft[dot]com/files/free/LCISOCreator[dot]zip

Please let me know if you still have problems.

    -utubeisso1337

  • @utubeisso1337

I already have the iso and tried mounting it and running it your way (and without mounting it) and it still didnt work. Maybe I should just give up with it (...and life too. I really wanted to play that game again ='[ )

Ahhh its so annoying. Thanks for all your help and time tho. I'll have to just slit my wrists whilst playing on 0.9.6 at 5 fps. Or I could just not play it altogether

  • @rentaraman

hm well sounds like u might just need a more powerful computer. Only the very technical people can get this working fully haha

good luck though i hope you get it working well!

  • FCK.. you moron.. movies in pcsx2 got no slow.. only in game experiece.. can you show us in game?

  • yeh i do show some ingame after the cutscene.. its full speed

  • that speeds about good enough for me

lol patukene thats just 1 of many gay parts

  • lol well it happens to be a very compatiable game with the emulator :) So i used it for testing.

I actually quite like it though..

  • Couldn't be a gayer game.
