  • WOW! You must have failed miserably in the industry.

  • no gives a shit about Cine anymore its all desposible now

no one will view all the crap that will acumulate .

Its all just like the music biz BS BS BS good luck America

I am so glad i dont live inthat shit hole.

    Fewwwyyy

  • WHY CAN I ONLY SEE THIS IN 240p NOW!?????

  • hey guys...so, i'm wondering if someone can post red shots (with a 35MM lens adaptor) AND 35MM film shots so I can see how closely red comes to emulating film.

can ANYONE please help me? I mean - is there even a 35MM lens adaptor for red? I'm assuming there is and about to go look it up....but wanted to ask

  • The RED needs no "Adaptor".. The chip is 35mm, and the camera takes only film "Primes". Go to the RED site and watch the vids.

  • @sanandreasfault aw christ you're not thinking of buying one are you? If you dont know the answer to something as simple as that...

  • @12ampvacuum na..just renting but i ended up using a dif. camera b/c the red overheats too much

  • so what

  • I don't know if its just my computer but this was pretty grainy. And I have yet to understand what is the main difference in this camera from say your basic hd/digital camera?

  • @flickerman68 haha...a lot! For a start these are 4k images...even true HD video is only 1k. So for a start the RED is three times the resolution. Not to mention the pro lenses, and the CCD chip.

  • Hey Thanks for the explanation!

  • Why would you want 4k if ALL tv´s can only display 1920 x 1080 as a maximum??

Is it for enlarging the image like for projecting the edited footage on a full cinema screen??

  • exactly. It would also future proof your work for the inevitable day TV's can show 4k images.

  • Thanks!

Have you imported / edited RED footage on Final Cut Pro? does it run well?

  • it LQQKs like some one had a little to much to Drink on Turkey Day....

  • ive got to admit that indeed film isnt dead, YET. it is just a matter of seconds until everyone conceives the idea that digital has finnaly achieved same standards. and by standards i mean that it is all a matter of how it will be perceived by consumers in the end. if i own a studio and i have the possibility to get much more profits of cheaper production and get 95~99% of the same results, why would i use film if the task can be done digital? film will be left aside to small percentage of uses.

  • You saying that one may as well go digital if its cheaper and if it, in the end, achieves the same results? Personal view, the world of entertainment is run on the Mac, and with that, there is Final Cut, Colour, Shake, and a whole list of others. Digital is also by far a faster way of capturing film. One is to film something, and then plug the device into a computer and edit. Film, obviously, must be played back whilst the computer captures the frames in real time..

  • Note that film is only a small precentage of any motion picture's budget, especially a large scale one, for instance, what would be the point of shooting the film "australia" or transformers in HD or tape if film still looks better and would only cost a fraction more. In my opinion (and this is an opinion) if your going to spend money on a film, why compromise, shoot film.

  • you may have seen "clips" that have a similar look, but not at full rez. look it up.

  • I don't know if its just me, but a lot of differently priced HD cams looked the same to me (original footage wise without CC). I've seen REDONE clips look like my hv20 and hv20 is only 1000, not no 30,000 like the red. Sure, it has a lot more pro features, but seems to me, lighting/proper exposure/shot setup/content, mean a lot more than expensive gadgetry. Look at simple beavis and butthead toons compared to some fancy, cgi-toons. People will usually forgive quality for good story/characters

  • Its just how people do there settings.

  • Red one isn't HD it has 4,000 horizontal lines where HD has 1,080 horizontal video lines. Get your res right.

  • WOW! its' AMAZING! HOW MUCH YOU KIDS "DON'T" KNOW ABOUT ANYTHING! AND HAVE THE NERVE TO OPEN YOUR MOUTHS. You obviously have NO idea who your talking to.

  • no fool thats film resolution not freakin commercial home hd... get your mind right...

  • I just placed my deposit on one and am waiting anxiously...and I put my arri up for sale.

RIP film...I will miss you - for about a week. :)

  • RED ONE suffers from film envy. Just shoot film and be done with it. Then you can end your generic quest to make video look "filmish."

  • Film is Dead Dead DEAD!!!!! No one of any value will be using it @ the end of 2010. it will go the way of the phonograph record. And FILM still Cameras...... Did you notice???? ALL photography is shot with CCDs.

Come in out of the rain.

  • Digital better work quick because it's halfway through 2008 and 35mm film is still the major standard in Hollywood. No digital cinema cameras are even close to the dynamic range of film. Besides, what is the savings of shooting on RED if a full setup (cam, lenses, etc.) is over $30k? I could shoot 35mm for that.

  • No it's not. They said that years ago. Everyone knows that film is better and will last for more than one hundred years. HD is a good source for some things but not everything. People have to stop saying film is dead, and by 2010? Please. Film will be around for a long time. Video has changed over 50 different formats and they are still trying to get it right. Film stocks change for the better. I have an old Arri SB 16mm and the film looks great. And it's cheaper to shoot than HD.

  • thats interesting!

  • telecine??? isnt that when you transfer Film to video??? RED is a digital Camera so therefore would not need any Telecine!?! only DATA transfer!

  • Your correct in one sense, However, When you Telecin your really color correcting along with other fixes. Nothing of "ANY" high production values ever makes it to the BIG or Small screen without first.... Color Correction Thus....(Telecin).

  • thats amazing

  • wow those colors POPPED!

  • nice

  • sweet
