  • Ultimate Success Theme...

  • this is a great song! and the conductor seems to be feeling the music!!

  • You can look up a song called Homeland by Z. Randell Stroope, its a choral piece based off of this section of Jupiter. For all time i spent in high school and jr. high school, it was probably my favorite song I've ever sung.

  • i ever play this song <3 awww..... this song make me feel comfortable~

  • I like to play this song on my violin, although my col legno isn't very good, my vibrato is getting better though.

  • champions league final 2008.. :')

  • *Sob* cant play this my band does not have a string section T_T (River appears)

  • @DunNotCome Are you kidding this was my schools almamater we played it only band students just got to transpose it

  • @TXRedDevil888 my band does not have a string, my band is not like urs, its just a small band playing great music with great intonation unlike big bands which always have problems with intonation and tuning

  • I played this last year in my 6th grade band. This is honestly the best piece I've ver played and i'm in 7th grade now.

  • @vernicegirl8987 i am so stupidly sorry i accedently hit the dislike button but ment the like one :) i am trying to get my band instucter to let us play jupiter next year for my 8th grade year. and i envy you lots :) nice job btw

  • @Annabannana1126 Thx. :)

  • it's terrible how classical music has become such a cult following in the US, Japan's got the right idea.. good for them

  • @atrumdecretum Why is that terrible? i think its great, maybe we will see more masterpieces like this in the future!

  • @TheWingGundam wouldn't you rather classical be followed more by the masses in the US? I think it's terrible that's it's largely been forgotten here, or written off as pretentious high-class snobbery.

  • 5 people have no idea what music is...

  • my little sister is in concert band at our high school and for their spring concert they're perfoming this and it sounds beautiful

  • WHERE CAN I FIND THE SHEET MUSIC TO OH, MY JESUS, BY GUSTAV HOLST

  • @gretchenarlene The tune is Thaxted or Jupiter. The Oh My Jesus lyrics were from a musical piece called "It is finished" by Gary Rhodes and a few other authors.

  • so great playing this part in our marching show last year

  • i love this piece!!!

  • this is such beautiful piece to hear i love it! , and i can't wait to hear the other planets

  • theres OMFG this isnt the one i wanted although its a nice piece

its the typical astronaut theme song the dun dun duuuuuuuuun xD

  • Im trying to look for a better quality video of this version of Jupiter but apparently Holst wrote 2 pieces named Jupiter :l

  • what was the conductor's gender

  • @shutout951 Man

  • hey at 1:10 they cut out the part i play and made evreyone else louder :(

  • its such a beautiful piece of art :)

  • 5 people have no taste in music evidently.

  • @RikuGurl16

Or disliked it because half the song is missing, it annoyed me off a little if I'm honest..not enough to dislike it but enough to make me post this

  • @sorourke4 i suppose your right :) it had the part i had most trouble playing, so it helped me greatly anyay.

  • @sorourke4 There are plenty of full versions why not watch them? This one is useful for showing somebody who doesnt know the name of the piece what it is, much better than going on another and saying "ooh flick to 5:20" or whatever

  • @jimmyhayers It's also useful for people who are playing this arrangement in school, which I happen to be.

  • Anyone else notice the video lagging with the audio?

  • Listen a song "Hammerheart" performed by Bathory, and you will hear the true beauty of this song. Thats my opinion.

  • @ramuh666 i agress with you...bathory version is thousands times better than opera...

  • We are doing this piece in my orchestra class. So far it sounds beautiful! I love this piece though! Wonderful!

  • A true wonder

  • the old guy conducting this song scares me a little

  • This Piece Is moving, Composed PERFECTLY. I Play the entire piece for honor Orchestra. And Holst Would kick your ass with his composing skills!

  • god. i'm a guy. i haven't cried in so long but this makes me hold back tears.

  • Awesome!

  • The best part (my favorite at least), but not a song.

The whole planet is insane, it just twists and turns, brings you up, then down again, a true brilliant piece of art.

  • I recall Jupiter being a bit longer then this, i dunno, another 8 minutes maybe?

but yea this is my favourite part from it! :D

  • What the conductor does around 1:40 is really moving.

  • Who's conducting this orchestra?

  • @MrJonathanSwift

    That's Seiji Ozawa.

  • niceee !!!!!

  • :D i'm so glad i finally found this....i played it in high school twice. i love it. thank you. you made my day better :)

  • @maplestrat33 saaaaame

  • I saw this the opening night of the Houston Symphony's performance with HD video accompaniment. I must say, this one got my attention even more than Mars haha.

  • thank you for posting this on youtube!!!!

  • our school orchestra is playing this for our concert at the end of the month

  • @TheLexiboo101 ours too

  • I play trumpet and this chorale is amazing to play

  • i love the ending

  • hey i played this song in 7th grade as a trumpet. man this was a good song.

  • hey...i playing this song now and im in 7th grade xD im a trombonist xD *high fives*

  • @BlaCkGorillA13 what school

  • Great melody..Check out Bathory - Hammerheart.

  • You should really see Holst-Jupiter Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra. Eiji Oue , conductor. Notice the change in the face of Eiji Oue...

it looks like he is going start crying as the

"I Vow to Thee my Country" section is playing !!

    Carl

  • How you heard the English song:

"I vow to thee, my country" ??? It is the same tune.

    Carl

  • This song is so great. I read this music Tuesday. The flutes had the string part though.

  • ^^ So fun to play! First chair :D

  • we r playing this song in band!!! i love it i play alto sax part one (the melody) i love it! the conduct seems a little wacky

  • This sounds awesome with a choir - there are lyrics - gorgeous and immortal tune - makes me cry like a baby every time I hear it, it is so moving and gut wrenching.

  • great, great, great. It is a super song.Thank you

  • thank you "parasomnia" movie for this...thanks to that movie I heard this beautiful piece...music for the heart...

  • I really like this song. XD

  • *piece

  • j'entends aussi le thème de Braveheart, c'est normal? non, je rigole, je sais bien que tout le monde pompe sur tout le monde.

  • Movie Directors like to steal Holst's pieces. The Star Wars theme was written almost entirely by Holst, and then stolen by John Williams. Then he changed the last note of the theme, and called it "E.T."

  • Hola azucenita!!!!!!!

  • This is a nice song. Nicer on solo instruments though. Especially the trumpet.

  • *nice piece

  • this gives me shivers everytime i hear it.

  • Me too! especially this part of the Jupiter! Look at the man, his facial expression at 0:10, man I feel the same way as he does!!

Not only shivers, i get goosebumps too

  • its not a song! songs have word this is a piece!

  • Thank you for that...At least someone knows.

  • o this song is rambini by thalos tomlinson

  • nnnnnnnnnnnnniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiicccccccccccccceeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  • maaaaaaaaaggggggnnnnnnniiiiiiiiiffffffffffffiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiqueeeeeeee!!!

  • ohh Quortom.. why you did that?

  • ah this is hammerheart by bathory amazing

  • actually,no. The song Jupiter was written by Gustav Holst aroughly around 1914-1916 it is apart of a 7 part suite called "the planets." I do infact have alot of respect for Quorthon and wish he was alive still today :(

  • Not a song.

Holst would slap you for calling it a song.

    XD

  • Yes it is: this part is "I vow to thee my country", a British song that Holst decided to include in Jupiter.

It is easy to find on youtube ;)

  • I am aware, But you don't refer to orchestrated performance as a song. No matter what they are playing, because nobody is singing it.

  • I vow to thee my country was a poem that Holst wanted to fit Jupiter to, only later did it become the hymn version.

  • Ugh, this is one of my pet hates, people that call orchestral pieces, songs!

  • yeah...Ugh!

  • It is a propa banging tune though!!!

  • @stridegumrox why?

  • @stridegumrox In fairness Holst used this tune for a hymn setting of "I vow to thee, my country."

  • @stridegumrox It's a work of art. A piece

  • played this for the seniors as they walked in during their award ceremony, there was a suspended cymbal part too which was amazing. it gave you goosebumps

  • Where do you go to school because this is my schools alma mater

  • I really don't know what a conductor does but they always seem to know what their doing!

  • he keeps the flies off the musicians

  • Seriously laughed out loud!

  • so awsome!!!!!!!!!

I'm playing it for the GRC Collage concert band. Grc is a collage in Southern Sydney Australia. it consists of 4 schools. Anyway this song is so awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This part of the song was the most touching and melodious:) it totally blew me away when i listened for the 1st time and even up till now... Thank you Mr Gustav Holst.

  • im playing this song from my grade 3 cello exam i love this song

  • OMG! so this is what Bathory take to form Hammerheart <3

  • No it isn't!

  • i love this song:)

we are playing on wednesday for our aloha concert.

  • Check out the 1995 Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps playing this... its amazing... I marched drum corps that year and although I wasn't in the Cavaliers, we competed against them every night just about, so I heard this alot! Look it up.

  • I love the EPIC ending

    Its greatness gives me chills!

  • FINALLY a version worth listening too...

  • a "version"? I don't see what you mean. Its just a chunk of the original lol..

  • Sorry, version was a bad choice of words. I should've said performance.

  • oh yeah. i've heard sevreal other of these on youtube. this one definately takes the cake.

  • you knew what he meant, as in the actual orchestra that is performing it is very credible, and play it to perfection!

  • This is sooo relaxing to play. I love it. We're playing this next Wednesday (the 13th) for our Spring Concert! Anybody want to fly into Maryland to come hear? Didn't think so...haha.

  • Record it and post it on youtube ! :)

  • it's cool im playing also

it is very relaxing to play!!

  • this is amazing :D

  • I love playing this on my Tenor Sax..

you can really put a lot of emotion into it ..

I also played this in elementary school with my band..

I truly thought we sounded great.

  • my middle school orchestra did this but we sucked since we didnt want to do it....lol...i was a 6th grader and a 2nd

  • My school band actually played this, its fun on clarinet!

  • Anybody know who's playing/conducting? This was actually a really good version of this section of the movement.

  • It's Tajiro Ilimori conducting Tokyo Philharmonic. The full version is in the first video under related videos (as well as the rest of the suite).

  • Love this song. So calm and serene. The \whole suite together is to long for me, but still good ^^

  • Yeah, this is probably the only part of the whole suite that I really dig.

  • Oh really? Then the next step is playing the Lento maestoso before the Presto at the very end on Bass Tuba. Have fun playing those open bugle low D#, assuming it's a Tuba in EEb.

  • thanks ,,,, my fav

  • this is one of my favorite pieces ever performed

  • beautiful i mean this just sounds awesome

  • what band is playing and wat is the composer's name

  • Mike Hunt

  • Ben Dover

  • made up of asians! nice!!

  • Every composer Ive ever heard conducting this piece does it as if they are flipping pages in a magazine as fast as they can just to look at the pictures. However, this conductor does the piece justice. Other than this man, Leonard Bernstein is the only one I know of to do it this well. Bravo!!!

  • Look for Eiji Oue's interpretation here on Youtube. He too does a great "slow" job!

  • Yeah youre right, I just got done listening to it.

  • we played this today for a concert at the place the pacific syphony plays at

  • this recording has no justice

  • Beautiful piece, beautiful performance, and, of course,....great wild conductor hair!

  • i like mars better

  • omg its so beautiful!!!!!

  • because a piece has easy rhythms and notes, it is not necessarily easy. usually when the piece appears easier, it is harder due to the musicality needed to make it sound great.

  • yea it's easy but it's still an ok song

  • just because a piece is easy doesn't mean you played it to perfection...we were going to play this piece but decided on other ones...still have this one in our folders...

  • this song is super easy im doing thins song in orchestra. YAY. But you have to be sure you cant count beats very well.

  • Soul stirring.

  • This song is one of the easiest songs that i have ever played......~`~french horn~`~

  • im playing this in class right now and i'm in 6th grade

  • ...so?

  • it's prolly the easy arranged version ... O__o

  • its extremely easy isnt it?

  • Holst=GOD

  • Holst is a great composer, but he is NOT to be compared even close to God.

  • wats god done for me lately?

  • How would I possibly know? Just because you doubt the miracles of God doesn't mean everyone else does.

  • What if the existance of music like this IS God?

  • ...how can God be music?...

  • hey, how can God be an invisible giant sky-dwelling being?

  • i like your wit neilious

  • Quit bible thumping near something so beautiful as Holst's talent.

  • hey im playin this in orchestra @ my skool rite now...

  • Ha, im playing this in band class right now.

  • well in 1921 someone adapted this to a poem and so now it's also a hymn. They played it at Princess Diana's funeral I think.

  • is it just me or is this played somewhere in the DIsneyland resort??!!

  • Great song. Only classical and trance music can ever truly touch my heart.

  • If you're bitching about stereotypes.. nice profile :)

  • we played this for our 6th grade concert we did pretty good for sixth grade

  • HEY! this soooo isn't the whole literature

  • I LLLOOOOOOOVVVVEEEEE this song! we played this in symphony orch 9th grade year.GO VIOLAS! lol

  • i want to to play this in school for the band & orcastra. wish i was in your school

  • we did this for marching band my freshman year a year ago. "The Planets" - Gustav Holst. It kinda sucked, not gonna lie, but i love the jupiter chorale.

  • every time i hear this song it makes me tear up a little
