  • Brilliant. Alton is the man, I confess my love for this show and people look at me with a strange face. This his the home cook's guide! Thanks.

  • @QueenBoadicea

On the contrary; "cooking up a bunch of bugs" refers to crawfish, which, granted, are similar, but they are not lobsters.

  • more like scream to 10

  • you people calling crabs and lobster bugs are complete morons..its not a BUG..

  • @aliciaangel23 Actually, I've read lobster described as just that. If you go down South, you might hear, "C'mon over. We'll cook you up a bunch of bugs."

  • @aliciaangel23 It is a total bug. Water-bug- look at the structure: Antennae, exoskeleton, the tenacity of 1,000 men; It is completly a bug.

    A tasty meat filled bug.

    Go catch a crawfish....

  • @aliciaangel23 "Bug" is slang. It has no biological meaning. If you want to think about the common traits of bugs, bottom-dwelling, living in dark, secluded places and eating waste that other animals normally would NOT eat... a lobster is a bug. I'm sorry you didn't know that.

  • the lobster episode is by far his best episode

  • He killed that cockroach? Did PETA throw a fit?

  • This kills the crab.

  • Did that guys just say "ECOskeleton"? x)

  • I'm a vegetarian, but I totally respect guys like Alton Brown. Just because Lobsters and crabs are bugs that doesn't mean that we have to treat them inhumanly.

    Good method Alton's got there.

  • @H0tkebab it aint a bug u twit.. its called shellfish... i think u need to go back to biology class..

  • @aliciaangel23

    Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

  • @aliciaangel23 You need to get some class.

  • I dunno about everyone else, but almost never see lobster tanks at markets anymore.

  • Bum Bum Bum Bum Bum Bum Bum Bum Bum Bum

    Your bugs are dead

That's what I'm telling my sister when I make lobster

  • Love Alton, but the only thing he....got wrong? (trying not to sound rude) Is that your Kenmore fridge is not going to numb a creature that lives in the depths of the Atlantic ocean all it's life. It's the fact that no water is passing over their gills, so simply put, they are light headed when being dropped in the pot. Still my favorite episode though!

  • @anthvw63

I'm pretty sure that tray went into the freezer?

(Which isn't terribly obvious because they have a bunch of fridges, freezers and cupboards on set)

  • @Kirzen Sorry, but even IF that was his freezer, that doesn't compare to the BOTTOM of the NORTHERN ATLANTIC in JANUARY....at NIGHT. Lobsters have gills. No water, no breathing, no movement.

    Sincerely,

    -A Mainer

  • @anthvw63 Sorry, but the bottom of the ocean isnt below 0 degrees celsius (32 F). Therefore the freezer is colder than the ocean. Look it up. It's a fact... also lobsters store seawater, so they can last longer out of the water than other animals with gills. Knowledge is neat...

    WWABD

  • "Now this...." *fingers lobster* "GUY..."

    LMAO!

  • Hm, I know a market that sell kobe beef. I should try it! I heard it's very similar to Angus though.

  • well my dad used to just put them in the black steamer and thats it and they would be cooked LOVED IT

  • Awe....I wanted to see alton kill the lobster.

  • Best kill technique I've ever seen for lobsters, it looked very quick and painless

  • We eat wombats? D:

  • I think that it's funny that the guy who owns the fish shop calls the lobster's shell an "eco-skeleton" when it's an EXO-skeleton.

  • @pibeagles:

He's got a speech impediment. Sounds to me like he has a hard time pronounthing the "S."

  • buy the pork chops LOL

  • hahaha love that part

  • Well if you eat lobster as a whole it is bad, mostly because of the hepatopancreas (tommali). Really, livers in any bottom feeder will contain alot of junk but the meat is very good as long as you dont need a low sodium diet. anyhoo my 2 cents.

  • in fact their filter, the hepatopancreas (read liver), fills up over 80 % of their thorax, so proportionally they have a very very large filtering system. The toxins in question are heavy metals which stay trapped in the filter of nearly all animals for a very long time, which is why when you do enjoy lobster, you should limit yourself to the white meat which has extremely low levels of methylmercury and other heavy metals. Just to let you know I am a lobster biologist from massachusetts. :)

  • not to sure 6:41 on killing the lobster that way. I worked at a seafood resturant. it was a lot safer to flip the bug on its back.

then stick the knife between the eyes and crack down. the shell its much softer, and easy to break threw.

  • at 6:08 he comments on lobster brains but if I remember my Biology courses I think they have ganglion not brains but I could definitely be wrong.

  • you are correct... lobsters are arthropods meanning that they do indead have ganglion

  • Actually a lot of animals continue moving shortly after death, chickens are notorious for it they can flap round for a few minutes without their head. Remember that any meat you eat had to be killed by someone, at least when you do it yourself you know for certain it was quick.

  • the items he's talking about in the beginning are truffles and kobe beef

  • How to eat lobster: cram it into your face

  • Mmm! Crunchy!

  • i love seafood

  • I thought that was pretty funny. "If this bothers you, consider this...the food chain." I was not expecting that. I figured he would go straight into the process of freezing them first, instead of a long lecture on basically why these PETA people and others are wimps. Alton Brown just doesn't seem like the kind of host who would do that. I actually was surprised to see he even did a lobster episode

  • @gowifb He probably planned an episode on Rabbit, but the producers put the kibosh on it.

  • or you can never read this spam and if you follow it you are retard espically if you repost it!

  • reply to the one right below me 2 below this comment

  • damn lobsters r creepy lookin

  • That's exactly what my grandparents do when they steam lobster, they are huge seafood foodies. Only my grandfather uses an inch of beer instead of water. Still good though.

  • i don't think the cockroach is real

  • this episode makes me hungry =)

  • every episode makes me hungry ;)

  • oh bother

  • i love lobster but i hate how everyone has a problem with kiling a lobster like ab said a lobster is close to a bug just kill it already stop being a pansy just kill it lol.

  • yes they are pussies. If you are such a pussy that you cant handle where and how the food got to your plate then you shouldnt eat it. If you arent willing to kill it then dont eat it.

  • Why lobster? Crawfish is king!

  • hell yea

  • dude on mothersday i bought my mom a lobster i had no idea how to cook it i watched this show and it sw as perfect lol she loved it

  • Crab is better than lobster.

  • yeah, the meat is sweeter & they are more fun to eat!

  • wow LikeTheHat watching all these vids must make u a pro cook?

  • this....guy

    lol

  • lol 10 second death =)

  • 4:17, he makes the lobster nod!

  • Thanks for posting, been looking for ways to cook a lobster on youtube, AB is a genius most humane way to kill and stuff a lobster i've seen. Keep up the good work :)
